"Yes, please, I would love to have you by my side," Madisyn said softly, her voice sounded kinda uneasy. She sat at the edge of the kitchen table, her fingers nervously tapped her cup. She sighed
"I can't bear facing him alone or having to attend him claim how happy he is with his new life.
But at the same time I don't want to let daddy down."
Her sister leaned forward. Her eyes filled with understanding and a smile curved her lips.
"You don't owe Joey anything, Maddy." She said. Her voice steady and reassuring. "And about dad, if you don't show up, I'm sure he'll understand."
Madisyn nodded, though a flicker of doubt crossed her eyes. "I know," she whispered. "I just don't want Joey to think he has some sort of power over me. "
Her sister reached across the table for her hand, placing a hand on Madisyn's supportively.
"He doesn't," she said firmly. "I'll be there with you, okay?"
