Emily was surprised for a second. She was surprised to see Jake Lewis there and unaware that John had been by her side the entire time.
She had completely forgotten all about him. She's still not used to having a bodyguard following her everywhere she goes.
Jake's imposing form stood immediately before her, staring at the five heavy bags she was carrying with creases on his forehead and two lines between his brows in an angry tone.
Without trying to help her, he began scolding her as if she were a child.
"What are you carrying right now? Why didn't you have the butler buy it for you? And how come you aren't with the bodyguard? I told you it was not safe to be alone. It would be best always to have someone with you when you go out, especially with Aiden or your driver and bodyguard. They shouldn't be with you if they can't do their job."
Jake's face had a grim expression, and he glared at John on the side.
Seeing that Jake was in a bad mood, John quickly spoke. "Good day, Sir Lewis." Then he went up to Emily.
"Ma'am Emily, please allow me to take that so I can put it in the car," he offered courteously and respectfully.
John instantly took the five plastic bags of pastries and apologized to Jake and Emily.
He then stood there, his head down, concerned that he might face severe punishment for failing to complete his duties.
Jake had advised him that no matter what, he shouldn't ever let Emily or Aiden out of his sight at any time since they had many individuals wanting to hurt them, and he couldn't let anything happen to them on his watch.
Very thankful, Emily gave John the bags of pastries. She exhaled a breath of relief as she had been worrying about how she would carry all the food she intended to buy on her own.
However, she felt awful for John, realizing she had caused him trouble because of how Jake spoke.
When she visited Jake and his office, she didn't think about it; she just requested that he drop her off at the front of the building and then park the car.
There was no need to be concerned about her because she was going inside the Lewis group building.
She didn't think anything wrong would happen to her inside, so she informed John to wait in the cafe.
When John arrived panting, she could see by his heated face that he had been strolling around the strip looking for her after realizing she had left him.
"I apologize." It was my fault, not Brother John's. Please do not blame him because he did his job thoroughly. I made a mistake, forgot about him, and went alone."
She couldn't look Jake in the eyes, so she concentrated on poor John, still standing there with the five bags of pastries, waiting for orders.
Jake saw Emily's attitude as she looked at her bodyguard; tears welled in her eyes and were about to fall on her beautiful, youthful face.
"That's okay; nothing happened. She is not wounded. "I can forgive you because it was not your fault," Jake responded firmly to John, despite his unhappiness with what had happened.
He couldn't blame John for listening to Emily or Emily for being stubborn because she was intentionally running about without alerting her bodyguard.
He then switched his focus to Emily, who was standing there, observing and listening to him converse with John.
"And, while you may not care, I do. I am your legal guardian and will ensure you are protected.
However, for me to be able to protect you, you must be attentive, listen, and obey my orders. Do you understand?!"
Emily regretted what she had done, but it was too late. She'd already gone to the store, bought stuff, and was home, so what else could she do?
She stared at Jake and listened to what he had to say. After he finished scolding her, she apologized once again.
"I am sorry. Okay, I will not do that again. Anyway, I am OK right now. Nothing occurred. Okay, you see. Look."
She then went to John and said, "John, those bags are heavy. Why don't you put them in the car first? I don't believe anything could happen to me while Mr. Lewis is around. Also, bring the vehicle here to go home after I get the food."
After giving John the command, she turns her attention to Jake.
"I was about to go inside to that place over there, " she added, pointing to the Jollibee sign.
"Would you want to come in with me and let me place my order? We can relax and speak while I wait for my order. I wanted to bring treats for everyone at home, especially Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez and Aiden, who like this fast-food restaurant. They loved their chicken and the spaghetti."
Jake was listening to her rambling on something incoherent.
He doesn't understand what she's saying because he's never had fast food before, so he listens to her rumbling about what they have to offer.
They had no idea they were already waiting in line in front of the cashier, who said, "May I take your order, please?"
The lady behind the counter had a lovely smile painted on her young face.
Emily intended to take it with her but feared it would be too many. It's best to inquire whether they can deliver.
"Can you deliver? I intend to order for at least 15 people, which will be too much for us to bring with us." Her eyes are filled with eagerness for this young lady.
Meanwhile, as he routinely checked the establishment, Mr. Santos, the district store manager, spotted two very extinguished people standing in front of the counter.
They seemed out of place and were rather conspicuous.
At first, he believed they could be some famous individuals or celebrities.
After hearing Emily's question, he promptly addressed the woman at the counter...~~~
