As soon as the window opened, Tina vomited outside. She often vomited while traveling in bus. So, she often sat by the window.
Lisha said – Wait! Puke at the front all over in front of the door so when they come they get distracted by it. We will arrange the boxes and keep them so when they come, we just have to hide the open window by placing these 3 boxes in a pile.
Tina replied – But you all can not stand the smell!
Lisha – If the smell affects us, then we will vomit too. They can not stand the smell and might slip on it. So, we can escape.
Shreyas picked up the cloth in front. He tied a firm knot at one end of the seat iron leg, just like he learnt in Scouts and put a little part outside the window.
Nishit, Leena and Lisha soundlessly arranged the boxes.
Raj began – Listen! Only Leena, Lisha and Shreyas can roll down from the window in the cloth. The remaining of our bodies will not fit through the window.
Leena shuddered – I can not.. I can not… I can not…
Lisha hugged her and said- Let us try. Let Shreyas go first.
Just as Shreyas was about to go, Tina patted him – Listen Shreyas, when you roll down from the cloth , keep your body rolling on the road after leaving the cloth. ROLL... ROLL…ROLL…
Shreyas had gone out first and was rolling on the road. First, he kept his school belt on the seat to be noiseless, put a chemist set into his school bag. He lowered the long cloth. First, with his hand, he held onto the window and school bag. His school bag rolled down second and stopped, even as he continued to roll.
Nishit whispered- Slow! Slow! Slow!
'Why is that?'Raj asked.
Tina continued – Minor bruises is better than a fracture or ligament tear. If you do not roll the kinetic energy is abruptly converted to potential energy and body absorbs the force or pressure on contact with ground. There is fracture. If there is rolling friction, it gradually decreases the kinetic energy which prevents serious injuries to body.
Leena was shaking.
Lisha wore a pair of gloves from an open doctor set. She kept a doctor set in her bag, their two school belts and another pair of gloves in her pocket. The two metal school buckles in their belt were between books and drama practise clothes so, they would not produce a 'clang' sound on touching the ground. She slid down her bag first.
Shreyas stood up fine at a distance. He walked quietly and picked up his bag. The music at front and the ghat roads shrouded the escape. He walked towards his sister's bag.
Shreyas and Lisha were brother and sister.
