"Power, throne, ambition," Angel Leng murmured softly.
"Impossible. Angels don't pursue such things. Only lower civilizations chase after them," Angel Leng murmured before reaffirming her belief.
"Heh, low-level," Zhang Zheng sneered at her words. "Maybe, but what if you add jealousy to the mix?"
"Jealousy? What would my teacher be jealous of? Only Queen Keisha can choose the Angel King," Angel Leng clearly didn't believe Zhang Zheng. She knew that even if Ruoning might betray the angels, her respect for Queen Keisha wouldn't be any less than that of any other angel.
"I don't know. But in the future I saw, Angel Yan will become the new angel leader. She will hold the throne until Anisid grows into a qualified Angel Queen, and only then will she pass it on," Zhang Zheng said, while glancing at Zhi Xin beside him to see her reaction.
Based on seniority, the most suitable candidate to replace Keisha should actually be He Xi, the Heavenly King, not the much younger Angel Yan, who is only seven thousand years old. Although Zhi Xin didn't seem to be bothered by it in the original story, Zhang Zheng still wanted to see what her attitude would be.
However, Zhang Zheng was somewhat disappointed. Zhi Xin's expression remained unchanged, as if she hadn't heard what Zhang Zheng said. This was because, from her perspective, since Zhang Zheng had agreed to help Keisha, there was no need to worry about Keisha's safety, so she naturally didn't dwell on unnecessary concerns.
But while Zhi Xin remained indifferent, Angel Leng and Angel Lingxi reacted differently.
"Damn, Yan will become the Angel King?" Angel Leng blurted out a curse, feeling uneasy. After all, she had been competing with Angel Yan for seven thousand years. If Yan really became the Angel King, Leng would feel defeated and unhappy—not out of jealousy, but simply because she lost.
"What do you think, how's the relationship between Yan and Ruoning?" Zhang Zheng didn't answer Angel Leng but instead asked what he had in mind.
Angel Leng felt both frustrated and amused by Zhang Zheng's mocking expression. "We know you're powerful and can see the future, but why do you have to look so smug?" she thought to herself while admitting that her teacher's relationship with Yan wasn't great.
When Ruoning left Angel City, a big reason was that Yan had taken over her position as the Sacred Left Wing. Seeing the shifting expression on Angel Leng's face, Zhang Zheng could tell that something had indeed happened between Angel Yan and Ruoning.
"Yan took over the Sacred Left Wing position from my teacher," Angel Leng finally admitted, though she added, "But even if my teacher resents Yan becoming the queen, she wouldn't kill me over it."
"Then what if Ruoning wants to usurp the throne? Who would you support? The successor chosen by Queen Keisha, Angel Yan, or the one Ruoning supports?" Zhang Zheng asked, ignoring Angel Leng's insistence. He knew how stubborn angels could be; this was evident even in the original story.
"Impossible. Even if my teacher had such thoughts, she should know that no one would support her in becoming the new Angel King," Angel Leng stated clearly. When Ruoning left Angel City, she had already lost any hope of becoming the Angel King.
"Then what if we add Hua Ye to the equation?" Zhang Zheng asked again.
"Hua Ye? Who's that? Never heard of him," Angel Leng was confused by Zhang Zheng's question. Who was this Hua Ye? She instinctively turned to Zhi Xin, thinking that as the Sacred Right Wing, Zhi Xin might know something. But Zhi Xin, feeling embarrassed under Angel Leng's intense gaze, didn't know either. She was only five hundred years old, and many past events were kept hidden from the younger angels by Keisha and He Xi.
"Hua Ye was the Angel King before Keisha, the founder of the Heavenly Palace Order, a sleazy old man," Zhang Zheng explained, a bit puzzled that Angel Leng didn't know about Hua Ye, as Angel Yan did know about him, even though he wasn't well-liked.
Hearing about the Heavenly Palace Order, Angel Leng fell silent. She knew that Ruoning had despised the Heavenly Palace Order.
Angel Lingxi, on the other hand, was utterly confused by the conversation. She didn't understand anything about Angel Ruoning or Hua Ye, the so-called Heavenly Palace King. She was younger than Angel Leng and held a lower status than Zhi Xin, so she remained lost throughout the discussion.
Seeing that the two angels had nothing more to say, Zhang Zheng decided to stop pushing the conversation further.
"Alright, don't worry. As long as Queen Keisha is still around, those demons won't dare cause trouble," Zhang Zheng reassured them, though he didn't quite understand why the angels, after overthrowing the male angels, hadn't eliminated their higher-ranking enemies. Didn't they understand the principle of eliminating the root to prevent future trouble?
"Hah, that's true. As long as Queen Keisha is around, they wouldn't dare to cause any trouble," Angel Leng agreed, realizing that she had been overthinking things.
"I've promised Zhi Xin that Queen Keisha will be safe on Earth," Zhang Zheng said, looking at Zhi Xin seriously.
Angel Leng, however, wasn't in the mood to watch Zhang Zheng and Zhi Xin being affectionate. She was in a bad mood because Zhang Zheng had revealed too many things, forcing her to believe that he could indeed see the future. While Angel Leng wasn't afraid of death, she did worry about Ge Xiaolun and Holy Keisha.
"Hey, Zhang Zheng," she asked hesitantly, "what will happen to Ge Xiaolun and me in the future?"
"I don't know. What I saw was the future where I didn't interfere. Now that I've intervened, everything is changing. If I were to look into the future now, there would be countless timelines. Who knows which one we will choose?" Zhang Zheng responded, realizing he couldn't bluff his way out anymore.
"Tch, useless. You control the power of time and can't even look into the future," Angel Leng scoffed, seemingly relieved of her worries and ready to resume her bickering with Zhang Zheng.
Seeing Angel Leng sitting across from him with her legs crossed and her chin held high, Zhang Zheng felt exasperated.
Angel Lingxi had initially wanted to understand more but, seeing that another argument was about to break out, hurriedly sat back down beside Angel Leng, clutching her arm, worried that her sister might lose her temper and end up getting hurt again—though it was always her who ended up injured.
