Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

Introduction to the Sentinel's Abilities

The Sentinel possesses extremely high speed, exceptional endurance, formidable defense, and flight capabilities. The Sentinel can also control and release energy, creating energy fields from various parts of his body and firing different forms of energy. Additionally, he has powerful mental and psychic abilities, including forcibly implanting or erasing memories and stabilizing emotions. The Sentinel also has a significant capacity for indiscriminate energy absorption, allowing him to absorb energy from any time/space to replenish himself. Most of the Sentinel's abilities have unknown limits. His powerful psychic force is even beyond the control of Doctor Strange.

After being resurrected as a Death Knight, the Sentinel, freed from the suppression of the void, can fully utilize his powers. His abilities are extremely potent: his speed exceeds multiple times the speed of light, allowing him to instantly transport Thor out of the galaxy to several light-years away; his immense combat power rendered Thor powerless to fight back; his telekinetic force stopped Thor's hammer; his immense strength enabled him to withstand the descent of the Celestials (cosmic-level adjudicators) that even Little Mischief could not resist (Little Mischief had the combined powers of all Earth's superheroes at that time). After Thor killed the Celestials, the Sentinel flew away at superluminal speed with the corpse of a Celestial the size of Earth. According to Bumblebee, the Sentinel took it to the White Red Space (where the Phoenix Force resides).

Additionally, the Sentinel can rapidly heal his wounds, fully control the molecules and fundamental particles in and around his body, and even survive as a spirit without a physical form. He can absorb any form of energy from any location (space/dimension) to replenish his own energy, and he does this extremely quickly. He once engaged in a prolonged battle with Captain G.V., absorbing and unleashing energy to nearly destroy a MICROVERSE (a sub-universe accessible only through Pym Particles, where space is comparable to the regular universe). In his battle with Thor, the Sentinel demonstrated heat vision, which allowed him to instantly subdue Thor, then rip open Thor's head to reveal his brain and extend several black tendrils. These unknown tactics seemed capable of killing Thor, which caused the Sentinel to hesitate.

In "All-New All-Different," the Sentinel treated magical costs that even "gods" and "Supreme Sorcerers" could not bear as a mere breeze. He then suppressed the Void, who was unbeatable by Strange with "Rune Power" and Loki with "Vishanti Power," and punched through the Moon; he shattered the Sentinel's universe (at least breached the universe's cosmic wall).

The Sentinel has many other unknown abilities, such as the power to resurrect others: in "Gods of Vengeance," he revived his wife, killed by Ultron, merely by hugging her.

In "Dark Dynasty," after experiencing being instantly killed by the Molecule Man, the Sentinel quickly learned molecular control, allowing him to directly confront the Molecule Man. Despite being instantly killed by him and resurrecting infinitely, the Molecule Man, who normally transcends cosmic laws, could not quickly revive, forming a stark contrast. After mastering molecular control, the Sentinel's immortality became even more terrifying, to the point of being immune to causal attacks. Even if erased from the timeline, the Sentinel cannot be killed. Moreover, the Sentinel can create life through molecular manipulation.

The next morning, Pan Zhen took Zhang Zheng to a teleportation portal.

Zhang Zheng didn't know where Pan Zhen was taking him for the duel. However, seeing Pan Zhen staring at the portal, seemingly lost in thought, Zhang Zheng realized that the portal must hold some undisclosed secrets.

"General Pan Zhen, is something wrong?" Zhang Zheng asked, approaching him.

"It's nothing. This portal just reminds me of some unpleasant memories," Pan Zhen replied.

Looking at the portal with a mix of hatred, regret, and a hint of relief, Pan Zhen said, "This is a portal to the Denor System, isn't it?"

Zhang Zheng, despite his youth and lesser experience compared to ancient beings, understood human emotions well from his previous life as an ordinary person. Given Pan Zhen's complex expression, Zhang Zheng quickly deduced the backstory.

"Heh... General, I admire your wisdom," Pan Zhen said with a bitter smile.

Pan Zhen truly admired Zhang Zheng for his intelligence, bravery, responsibility, and understanding of human relations. He sincerely believed that Zhang Zheng should be with the goddess Reina. Unfortunately, it was too late.

"If possible, could you tell me about the events of the past? I know some details, but only vaguely," Zhang Zheng asked out of curiosity.

Noticing his question might be intrusive, Zhang Zheng added, "If it's inconvenient, it's okay."

Pan Zhen sighed and said, "There's no inconvenience. It all began with the Super God Academy."

Recalling the Past...

Seventeen thousand years ago, the angels severed ties with the Super God Academy over their research into ultimate fear. The Divine Kesha expelled the Super God Academy from Angel City.

The expelled Super God Academy, carrying unfinished projects (the three creation projects), searched for new collaborators in the universe. Unable to find a single civilization to support all three projects, they were separated and developed by three different civilizations.

Yuan Star chose "The Cleaving Axe, the Hand of Yuan Star."

Denor Star chose "The Sword of Fear, the Power of the Divine River."

And Sun Star chose "The Light that Illuminates Darkness, the Sun's Light."

Sun Star, due to its belief in national prosperity and peace, focused solely on its own development. Yuan Star and Denor Star, however, started an arms race because of their creation projects. Initially allied, these two civilizations gradually came into conflict.

With the war-crazy general Dukaol of Yuan Star, the small disputes escalated into a full-scale war between civilizations. Due to their similar levels of development, neither side could easily win, and the war dragged on for three thousand years. Eventually, even the gods joined the conflict.

Sun Star got dragged into the war, resulting in the death of Reina's father. In a fit of rage over losing his beloved son, the Sun God exploded the sun of the Denor System. Yuan Star was also cleaved in half by the dying hand of Yuan Star.

After regaining his senses, the Sun God deeply regretted his actions. He desperately preserved half of Sun Star and chose "self-destruction" in the Celestial Tower. By the time Pan Zhen arrived, it was too late. Pan Zhen could only preserve the dark data of the Sun God in the Celestial Tower and implant the Sun's Light genes into Reina, who was still in the womb.

After a millennium of gestation, Reina was born, having fully integrated the super genes. Her mother, exhausted by the long gestation period, passed away shortly after, leaving Reina in Pan Zhen's care.

End of Recollection

After hearing Pan Zhen's account, Zhang Zheng was at a loss for how to comment on the past events. The Denor civilization was at fault, but ordinary people were innocent. The Sun God's vengeance, which led to the destruction of an entire civilization, seemed excessive.

Pan Zhen, noticing Zhang Zheng's silence, asked with curiosity, "Aren't you going to comment on the war?"

Everyone in the universe believes that the Sun God was at fault, and behind the scenes, people refer to him as an ancient monster or evil god. Pan Zhen was curious about Zhang Zheng's opinion on the war and the Sun God.

"There's nothing much to comment on. Both sides had their own positions. The Sun God lost his son, and from a father's perspective, it's understandable. The Denor civilization was at fault, but the ordinary people of the Denor System were innocent. If anyone is to blame, it's the war and the nature of human hearts," Zhang Zheng said after some thought.

"Haha... Did you hear that, gods? Finally, someone has given a fair judgment of that period of history," Pan Zhen laughed heartily.

Yet, his laughter was tinged with bitterness and desolation. Zhang Zheng watched Pan Zhen laugh without interrupting. This man had shouldered too much over the past ten thousand years— the survival of the planet, the future of the Sun civilization, the growth of the future goddess, and the Sun God's disgrace. Now that Sun Star had recovered, and the descendants of Denor had reconciled, and Zhang Zheng had given a fair judgment to the Sun God, the weight on this man's shoulders had finally lifted.

He deserved to release his pent-up emotions and pressure.

"Today is the happiest day since Goddess Reina's birth. I got a bit carried away earlier," Pan Zhen said to Zhang Zheng.

"Not carried away at all. Even men need to vent occasionally," Zhang Zheng replied.

He then added, "What I'm most eager to see now is how Sister Reina would react if she knew General Pan Zhen had this side to him. She often tells us, 'General Pan, you are a rigid, conservative, and inflexible old stubborn.'"

Zhang Zheng, having learned to be cautious, avoided directly criticizing Goddess Reina. Instead, he decided to playfully report her comments to Pan Zhen, knowing Pan Zhen would probably discipline his own daughter later.

"Ah... Hearing how my goddess views me, I feel like going to Earth right now to give that little troublemaker a lesson," Pan Zhen said in frustration. But then he reconsidered and thought it wouldn't be right. Even if the goddess was unreliable, she wouldn't malign her guardian in front of others.

Remembering Zhang Zheng's earlier comment about Reina bullying him on Earth, Pan Zhen chuckled, "I almost fell for your trick. Don't drag an old man like me into your youthful schemes. I'm too old to handle your antics."

Zhang Zheng, thinking Pan Zhen had fallen for his trick, inwardly cursed him as an "old fox." With his physique, he was clearly a middle-aged hunk, not an old man. If he changed his clothes, who knows how many infatuated young women he might attract.

Though Zhang Zheng made these internal jabs, he said with a grin, "Just joking, to lighten the mood. Let's hurry and find a place to fight."

Seeing Zhang Zheng refocus on the topic, Pan Zhen let go of the earlier trickery and said directly, "Let's go to the Denor System for the battle. There are no civilizations there now. You can unleash your power and fight me freely."

"That might be unfair to General Pan Zhen. The stars of the Denor System were exploded by the Sun God, right? Since you rely on stellar energy for combat, wouldn't it be difficult without any stars?" Zhang Zheng hesitated.

"It's okay. I only detonated the stars of the Denor civilization. There are still plenty of stars in the Denor System. The only issue is that the environment is no longer suitable for ordinary life, which is why the descendants of the Denor civilization left that region of space," Pan Zhen explained.

With this clarification, Zhang Zheng stopped hesitating and walked towards the teleportation portal.
