"Are you sure you still want me?" Khaos asked. He pulled her even closer, as she wrapped her arms around his neck. If they were not in this situation, they would surely be the center of attention for how inappropriately close they were.
Zuri stared into his gray eyes. "I survived everything life has thrown at me so far, so I believe I can survive your monster as well." He didn't even know what kind of monster that kept whispering intrusive thoughts into her mind.
Meanwhile, Zuri was unaware of the kind of life she had committed to when she agreed to be with Khaos.
"Life is more than just survival, Zuri," Khaos said. It was so rare for him to call her by name, which made this conversation feel more intimate and… rather sinful. "Sometimes, it's just revenge and endless schemes."
Khaos twirled her one more time and then knelt down to kiss the back of her hand as the music ended.
