Chapter 45 - He has a secret identity

It was still night and the people in the inn were still sleeping ,despite the noise form the fight.

From Prince Eyrins chamber, one could see princess khillian's chamber through the big whole and one could see the empty chamber at the other side.

Prince Eyrin sat on his bed, meticulously tending to his wounds. The chamber was filled with a tense silence, broken only by the presence of Princess Khillian, Palov, and Lourix.

Earlier, Palov had offered his assistance, but Prince Eyrin had declined, preferring to handle the task himself. Shirtless, he carefully cleaned his injuries, his muscles tensing with each movement.

"I could have helped you, but it would seem inappropriate," Princess Khillian said, her voice tinged with guilt.

"It's fine, I can manage. However, dressing the wounds on my back is quite challenging, what do we do?" he admitted, stretching his hand awkwardly behind him.

Princess khillian sensed that he wanted her to do it herself.Sje was sure that he was looking for a way to be more engaged with her, however she wasn't interested with that.

"Your guards can assist you," she suggested.

Prince Eyrin grinned, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Shouldn't you take responsibility for your actions? Besides, my guards are occupied with other duties outside," he said, glancing at Palov and Lourix, signaling them to leave.

Lourix hesitated, confused, but Palov understood. "Please excuse us," he said, guiding Lourix out of the room.

As Palov was about to close the door, Princess Khillian interrupted, "Leave it open."

He paused, looking to Prince Eyrin for confirmation. The prince nodded, then chuckled softly at Princess Khillian, finding her demeanor amusing. "I'm not that kind of person," he reassured her, turning his back towards her as he sat on the bed.

Princess Khillian hesitated before approaching Prince Eyrin's bed.

"I'm not worried about that. I just prefer it this way. If you were to try anything, your heart would stop beating," she said confidently.

Prince Eyrin chuckled softly.

She glanced at his back before arranging her dress and sitting down slowly on the bed. She reached out to take the cloth from Prince Eyrin's hand.

He looked at her hand and then handed it to her. She rinsed it in the bowl of water before gently touching his back with the cloth.

"It's not inappropriate to help a man tend to his wounds. There are female healers," Prince Eyrin remarked.

She began to clean his back slowly and softly. "I'm not a healer, and you're not part of my family."

Prince Eyrin smiled to himself. "The name 'Eyrin' made you angry. Which Eyrin is it, and who was he? Is he... Prince Eyrin Vexar?" he asked, peeking over his shoulder with a grin.

He knew that many people hated the Vexars for what his father had done, and he wanted to know if she was one of them.

"No, it's not. The Eyrin I hated was an ex-lover of a friend. He ran away with her money, and she killed herself," she said, her eyes fixed on the wounds she was cleaning.

She knew she couldn't reveal the truth about Prince Eyrin Vexar. Anyone could be related to a Vexar, and one had to be cautious.

"Why would I have a problem with Prince Eyrin?" she asked, rinsing the cloth again.

Prince Eyrin found her increasingly intriguing. "Don't you know? He's the son of the usurper king. I also hate him and his family. They don't deserve the good life they are living," he said, anticipating her reaction.

"It's not my business. I'm just living," she replied as she finished dressing the wounds and stood up.

Prince Eyrin nodded and turned to her. "Interesting," he said.

"I shall be on my way. I'll do something about the hole. Despite the loud noises, people are still sleeping. A demon could kill them in the blink of an eye," she said, preparing to leave, but Prince Eyrin interrupted her.

"Wait," he said, standing up and looking at her.

She turned to hear what he had to say.

"It's not my first time seeing you," he lied.

"Have we met before? If you say yes, I know you're lying. In my life, I haven't met many people. With this,I can recognize the few I have met."

"We didn't meet, but I saw you," Prince Eyrin said.

Princess Khillian's eyes darted as she thought, "Did he recognize me from the Peach Blossom Brothel in haven? But even then, I was always veiled in Haven State. He couldn't have recognized me."

"Where?" she asked, her voice steady but curious.

"Tamil State," he said, pointing behind him. "I watched you fight a demon with Nameless and the other two by the seaside," he lied smoothly. "I heard you introduce yourself as 'Khillian.'"

Princess Khillian remembered that night vividly. She had not been veiled, but there was something else she recalled.

"You saw Nameless, me, and two others fighting a demon in Tamil by the seaside, didn't you?" she asked, her eyes narrowing.

"Yes, that's right," Prince Eyrin confirmed.

She walked closer to Prince Eyrin, her steps slow and deliberate, but she kept a cautious distance. "Nameless wasn't fighting. He was just watching. Apparently, he had lost his memories and essence."

"Well, I guess my memories are a little foggy, Khillian," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Goodnight," she said, turning to leave.

"Are you close to Nameless?" he asked, probing for information. If she was close and told Prince Khane about him, it could complicate things.

"I'm not close to him, but I need to get something for him. It's the reason I'm in Essed now," she said, walking away.

"Then do you know his real identity?" Prince Eyrin asked, causing her to halt and turn back.

"They say nameless has a secret identity. One that could shake the kingdom.

Khillian...

do you want to know about it or would you like to sleep on your bed now?"He asked
