Chapter 8 - Miserable Day

"Where were you?"

"What did you and that girl do?"

"What is your relationship with that hot girl?"

"It looks like you two are very close!"

"I told you not to show yourself to me again!"

"Bastard I am going to kill you..."

The moment Evan came back to his classroom, he was bombarded by a series of questions and shouts! Boys eyes brimming with envy surrounded him like a swarm of sugar ants who found something sweet yet unapproachable.

And yet one of them - a sugar ant just like them, somehow managed to approach it.

They needed answers! Evan may be the Kendo Club president, but he was in no way as handsome as Marc Perkins!

They could not comprehend what Alexandra saw in him.

Then again - not even Evan knows what she sees in him!

"She just wanted to ask some questions related to the school..." Evan rapidly created an excuse, sweat dripping from his forehead. The boys encircled him like school bullies, leaving no way out.

"Bullshit!" The boys roared in unison. Their eyes looked as if they were ready to beat up Evan.

"She was asking for directions!"

"Spill the beans, you liar!"

"She's my neighbor, she was just surprised that I attend this school..."

"You big fat liar!"

"Evan, my dear friend why don't you at least tell me the truth? You won't lie to your best friend will you?" Marc came in front of the group of boys, his eyes slightly closed and his mouth curved into a friendly smile.

When Evan saw his current expression he could not help but flinch in fright. Evan knew that look— the look of when the Student President is incensed! Evan became scared for his life when he saw that face.

'Why the hell is he angry? Don't tell me he likes Alexa!' Evan thought to himself with a bewildered look. 'This is the first time they've met! Heck, they haven't even exchanged greetings before!' Evan felt a headache coming.

"Will you?!" The boys copied in reunion, repeating what Marc said.

"She is my fiancé!" Not able to hold it in any longer, Evan exclaimed for all to hear. When he said it he couldn't help but sigh in relief. The secret was out and there was no need to worry about keeping it from everyone anymore.

'What's done is done.' He exclaimed feeling at ease. However...

"Bullshit!" The boys thought differently. Even after telling the truth, they did not believe him! This left him utterly wordless causing them to continue screaming questions and curses at him.

This continued until the second class for the day. The girls did not try to help Evan during this time. They found great joy in the boys bullying Evan. April Raspberry no different. She was Evan's second best friend yet she was looking at the drama with a pleased smile.

Oh, the irony - the boy who made the kendo club to stop bullying was getting bullied by the same students he taught to stand up against bullying!

"Quiet down." A gloomy voice enters the classroom. When the boys heard this voice they immediately rushed to their seats like obedient ducklings, very different from when Teacher Holmes was teaching a couple minutes ago.

A man with messy black hair entered the classroom. He had bags underneath his eyes, his face looking very dry as if he hadn't showered yet. His back bent in a lazy manner like he just woke up.

"Good morning Teacher Woke!" They greeted respectfully. This man is Vincent Woke, the math teacher of 10-A. He is a very laid-back person, he doesn't like to talk much— in fact, he dislikes repeating himself twice.

Not only that, but of all the teachers he's the scariest. His entire vibe dark and gloomy and his eyes were deep black as if they had come out of the abyss. A mere look from him could easily scare an adult, children are no different.

"Yeah, good morning to you nuisances too." He greeted back, waving his hand in a very slow manner.

"Did you do your math homework?" He shortly asked and everyone nodded in agreement. No one in this school dare not do this teacher's homework.

"What about you Belmont boy?" Teacher Woke turns to face Evan, his face looking very dark when he notices him not nodding his head.

"The truth is..." Evan muttered in a soft voice before exclaiming, "My homework was eaten by a vicious dog!" Evan yelled, imagining the demon as an evil-looking dog.

"..."

Everyone in class faced Evan with kind smiles while raising their hands in prayer for him.

"Is that so..." Teacher Woke eyes became deeper, causing Evan to feel his entire body and mind being transferred to another world.

"As punishment, you will have to do all 30 questions in front of the whole class." Teacher Woke stated, but Evan did not hear him as he was overcome by fear for all he could see were pitch-black eyes staring intensely into his soul.

There was no reason for Evan to feel scared really. He has survived tribulation twice, witnessed human-like spirits being consumed before his very eyes, and encountered real demons on multiple occasions—twice in his life. This is just his imagination at work.

The things he has seen would be enough to send the average person straight to a mental hospital.

And yet he fainted right then and there.

.

"Ow! What was that far!" Evan swung a wooden tachi at a boy's head with half his strength.

"Hey man if you are trying to have revenge for what happened this morning you don't have to do it so harshly!" He then landed three thrusts on another boy's chest, sending him onto the floor as he gasped for breath.

"Hey!"

"Dammit man!"

"Gang up on him boys!" The boys having enough roared in union before rushing at Evan together with their wooden tachi gripped tightly in their hands.

Unbothered, Evan raised his own wooden tachi in retaliation.

A moment later...

"I'm sorry!"

"Evan please have mercy!"

"Mercy pleaseeeeee!"

Whack! Whack! Whack!

Evan showed no mercy as he continued releasing his anger on his fellow kendo club members. Today was just a mess for him and he needed someone to release all his frustration on.

Three hours later, school ended for the day. The kendo training he had with the members sadly was not able to relieve his frustration, instead, it grew as he also had biology and english class for the last sessions and recalled not doing his homework for either of them!

Worse of all, the teachers chose to grade them so he got a zero for all three subjects!

"I should have really skipped school today." Evan felt miserable. This was the first time he had ever felt this way towards school. Ever since his parents went missing he has always strived to do his best in anything. He has never once skipped his assignments as he was sure these sneaky teachers could choose to grade them out of spite.

The fact that the one day he did not do his assignments he suffered for it left a bad taste in his mouth.

"It's all that demon's fault. Just you wait, when I become a full-sledge spirit hunter I am going to skin you alive you bastard..." Evan complained while cursing with gritted teeth.

"What demon?" Amber asked, appearing out of nowhere beside him with a curious look.

"What do you want?" Evan questioned with a moody tone.

"We live in the same community, neighborhood and house. Is it weird if I wait here for a taxi with you?" She responded, not even looking at him.

"Don't you hate me?" Evan raised an eyebrow, dropping his gloomy attitude.

"I hate you very much." She replied back quite fast shocking Evan, her hate for him was confusing to him. He has done nothing to be hated— He believes.

"What do you think about Alexa?" Evan recalled her barging out of the house when Alexandra came this morning and chose to tease her by mentioning Alexandra's name.

"Don't talk to me." Amber instructed, looking at him with disdain as if disappointed with him.

Evan became speechless. The words came out of her mouth quicker than before!

His eyes soon lit up. Amber not only hates him but seems to also dislike Alexandra.

A plan began forming in his head before he smiled and said, "She's pretty isn't she?"

Amber remained silent at his taunt making Evan chuckle inside before he continued.

"I think I am going to marry her."

"..."

"We will have beautiful children."

"..."

"Our love will be eternal."

"..."

"Our hearts resonating with one another."

"..."

From waiting at the taxi stand to the drive home, Evan bothered Amber by continuously mentioning Alexandra. Although she was giving him the silent treatment she couldn't hide her anger from him.

Veins popped out of her head, her hands gripped together hard and her breath was heavy. Clear signs of anger! Evan was pleased with himself for the entire journey home.

When they finally got home an hour later Amber ran out of the taxi, even forgetting to pay the cab making Evan have to pay for her.

Though he had to pay for her, he felt it was worth it. When he went into the house she was nowhere to be seen, clear that she had gone to her room in a rush.

'I definitely pissed her off good!' Evan laughed inside, feeling very delighted.

"Little man, are you ready to get beaten into a pulp?"
