Chapter 7 - 7- Transfer the deed

The Kapoor family did not allow Raj to break off the engagement with Ananya because they valued her title as the Top Scorer of the National College Entrance Examination, as well as her expertise as a finance graduate to help Raj quickly establish himself in Kapoor Corporation Group. Ananya and Raj had been engaged for more than 10 years. Throughout their engagement, Ananya had never been unfaithful to Raj and had devoted all her energy to him. In return, how did Raj repay her? He had an affair with Meera and even belittled Ananya by criticizing her as boring and emotionless.

The Kapoor family treated her as a mere tool to be exploited. To Raj, she was a money-grubber who climbed the social ladder; she was not even considered a woman in his eyes. Well, she was no meek lamb or saint and would not resign herself to her fate.

"You still dare to talk about the past? This marriage is the worst decision I've ever made in my life! It disgusts me to the core!" Raj lashed out viciously, each word like a knife stabbing her heart.

Ananya's heart ached. She looked forward to Raj's reaction when he found out about her and Arjun. She yearned to see him lose it. She pursed her lips and said to Raj, "Let go. This is not the place to discuss the past."

Raj, also worried that Arjun might come out of the conference room at any moment, snorted and released her. "My mother told you to spy on me, and you actually think so highly of yourself."

Ananya rubbed her wrist, wishing she could punch Raj's narcissistic face.

Ananya said, "Remember to transfer the deed of the villa to my name as soon as possible."

Raj's eyes widened. "What did you say? Say that again?!"

Ananya looked up. "Sure, I can say it twice if you like. Young Uncle said that the villa was a gift from him to me, so please ask Meera to move out as soon as possible."

"You!" Raj had never seen Ananya like this before. He gritted his teeth in anger. "You're really a money-grubber!"

Ananya didn't refute.

Who doesn't love money in this world? Why should Meera benefit from a villa worth 20 million?

She left Raj gritting his teeth in anger and returned to the office in high spirits.

The office was very noisy. As soon as Ananya appeared, she became the focal point of everyone's attention. Ananya frowned and vaguely heard the words 'you'… Had her relationship with Raj been exposed? She looked at Eve, who lowered her head apologetically. "I'm sorry, Ananya. I didn't do it on purpose. I spoke a little too loudly just now and they overheard me…"

Raj—who was a step behind—tugged at his tie impatiently. "So what if you know? Very soon, it won't be a secret." He showed no regard for Ananya's pride in front of so many people.

Immediately, Ananya received many sympathetic looks—as she had wished.

After work, the Sharma family sent a car to pick up Ananya. "Miss, Madam would like you to come home." Obviously, Raj's mother—Shushma—must have called her family.

When Ananya arrived at the Sharma residence, she heard Meera's voice coming from inside even before she entered the house. "Aunt, the tea you made is really delicious. Ananya and Raj have been praising your skills."

Ananya's mother—Seema—said, "Meera, you haven't been back for a long time. I thought you and Ananya had grown apart. Did you receive the gift I sent you the other time?"

Meera replied, "Aunt, that gift is too expensive. I can't accept it."

Seema said, "It's for you; accept it. There's no need to stand on ceremony with me."

As Ananya quietly changed her shoes at the entrance, she saw Seema gently massaging Meera's wrist. If one didn't know better, they would think they were mother and daughter.

Seema looked at Ananya with a smile. "Ananya, Meera has been waiting for you here for a long time. Why are you only back now? Did you receive Madam Shushma call? Raj is still young and hasn't settled down yet. You should be more accommodating and stop throwing tantrums."

Ananya put down her bag and met Meera's gaze. Meera smiled shyly and sat awkwardly. "Ananya, are you still angry with me? I'm sorry. I've been sick for the past half a month. I don't have any other friends; that's why I called Raj."

Seema was displeased upon hearing this. She grabbed Meera's hand and looked at her lovingly. "How did you get sick? You have to take good care of yourself. Raj has been a young master since he was young; he doesn't know how to take care of others. If you need anything next time, just call Ananya. If not, I'll get our nanny to take care of you."
