Chapter 10 - 10-Pillow talk

Ananya had prepared the purchase agreement for the acquisition of MTX Corporation. She had already met with the person in charge of MTX Corporation. If she did not submit the purchase agreement at this juncture, it would have a huge impact on the reputation of Kapoor Corporation Group and herself. Ananya gritted her teeth and called Raj. A familiar female voice emanated from the other end of the phone. "He's taking a shower now." It was Meera's voice.

Ananya took a deep breath. "I don't care what he's doing. If he doesn't arrive at the office in half an hour, I'll submit this purchase agreement to the office on the top floor."

Meera did not understand what was at stake. She deliberately did not tell Raj about her visit to the Sharma family yesterday. When Raj came back from work and found her missing, he indeed went to confront Ananya. Meera's lips curled up. "Within half an hour? Just wait then."

After hanging up, Ananya set a countdown timer of half an hour.

Eve also heard the woman's voice on the other end of the line, especially the ambiguous words "taking a shower." She looked at Ananya with sympathy and disdain, before sneering. "Ananya, I don't want to rush you, but acquiring MTX Corporation is part of the company's plan. If it was held back by your private matters, the entire department's efforts will be in vain."

This was clearly Raj's responsibility, but because his surname was Kapoor—he was a member of the Kapoor family—no one dared to say anything about him. Hence, Ananya—with no formidable background and jilted by Raj—became the scapegoat.

Now that Arjun was personally overseeing Kapoor Corporation Group, any mishap would attract his attention. If things went south, it would indeed implicate the entire department.

Ananya sat on the chair and waited for Raj. In the end, she did not see Raj. Instead, she received a call from him. "Ananya, I'm very dissatisfied with the purchase agreement you prepared for MTX Corporation. I have doubts about your competence, so your position has been replaced by Eve."

Raj did not care much about the company's business, nor did he understand it. However, he had a veto power over everyone in the department because of who he was.

Ananya took a deep breath. "Raj, don't mix personal grudges with business. How many people did we send to MTX Corporation to conduct due diligence for this acquisition case? How much manpower and material resources did we spend? You replaced me with blithe indifference by way of a casual excuse of 'you doubt my competence'?"

"This is your problem." Raj did not care about that at all; he just wanted to take revenge on Ananya. "You're reaping what you sow."

After hanging up, Ananya suddenly stood up—picked up the purchase agreement on the table—and went straight to the top floor. Everyone in the department was very shocked. When they realized what Ananya wanted to do, their eyes were filled with mockery.

On the top floor, Rahul saw Ananya coming over and said impassively, "Miss Sharma, the President is in a meeting."

Ananya would have been fine to wait here, but MTX Corporation was pressing her and she did not have much time. Raj could not care less about the acquisition.

"The President's meeting ends at three in the afternoon, after which, there's an overseas video conference that will last until seven o'clock. He has to attend a charity gala at seven-thirty sharp and will be home at nine." Rahul said in a dutiful tone as he flipped through Arjun's schedule. He then adjusted his glasses. "The President will only have personal time after nine o'clock."

Rahul probably did not mean anything by it, but Ananya still felt uncomfortable with the last sentence. She pressed her chest and asked, "Can I get President Kapoor's contact information?" She needed to talk to Arjun personally about MTX Corporation.

Rahul replied, "I'm sorry, I can't give the President's contact information to others without his permission."

These words extinguished all of Ananya's impulses. She sneered. Although she had a physical relationship with Arjun, this assistant—Rahul did not treat her any differently. His attitude also reflected Arjun's attitude. She had crossed the line by coming to the top floor without permission today. Although she was an employee of Kapoor Corporation Group, she was not senior management. If she wanted to see Arjun, she had to make an appointment in advance. Armed with just a purchase agreement that lacked acquisition fee, she expected to see Arjun. What a laughing stock!

After realizing this, Ananya also saw herself for what she truly was—she was just Arjun's bed partner. As for his words about protecting her, they were just pillow talk.
