Hong Jiaxin and Zeng Xiaomei left their seats together and walked out of the classroom to the Youth League Committee office.
"Ding ding..."
The end-of-class bell rang, and the classroom erupted in cheers.
Every time class ended, you could see that kind of relieved joy on the students' faces.
The students surged out of the classroom like a tide, with Xiao Daniu draping an arm over Luo Yang's shoulders.
"Niu Zai, let's play ball."
"You go first."
"Then I'm off."
Xiao Daniu cracked his knuckles and swaggered off to the sports field.
I had promised Hong Jiaxin, so I had to wait for her to come back.
In the past, Luo Yang rarely stayed in the classroom after school; he'd normally be on the sports field playing basketball by now.
The other students were curious to see Luo Yang not leaving.
There weren't many students who stayed in the classroom to study, and most of them were girls.
Sitting at his desk, Luo Yang also took out some textbooks to glance at.
The backlog of schoolwork was so great, it was hard to understand the content of the textbooks.
Luo Yang thought to himself, "Aiming for good grades is not easy. Having made promises in front of Teacher Su and the class president, I just have to study hard. Which subject should I start with?"
Thinking it over, he flipped through the math textbook first, then turned a few pages of the Chinese textbook, and finally studied the English textbook a bit.
Every book was so profound, Luo Yang rubbed his temples, feeling that playing basketball was more interesting.
As he was daydreaming, he suddenly heard footsteps approaching from afar.
Without much thought, he could tell it was Teacher Su Yun coming.
Luo Yang quickly sat up straight, holding the Chinese textbook in both hands and started reading intently.
When Teacher Su arrived at the back door of the classroom and saw Luo Yang studying, she smiled with satisfaction, then walked over to his side.
"It's progress that you're willing to stay in the classroom to study, keep it up!" encouraged Teacher Su.
"I..., got it." Luo Yang smiled.
If it weren't for Hong Jiaxin asking him to stay, he would have gone to play already.
After exchanging a few words, Teacher Su was about to leave.
"Teacher Su." Luo Yang called out.
"What's up?" asked Teacher Su, turning around at the doorway.
"Do you have Hong Jiaxin's phone number?"
"Yes."
Teacher Su then took her smartphone out of her shoulder bag, looked up Hong Jiaxin's phone number, and read it to Luo Yang.
In the end, Teacher Su asked, "Do you need her for something?"
"Yes," Luo Yang replied.
He didn't know how long Hong Jiaxin's meeting would last and wanted to ask her; if she was busy, he wouldn't wait. Sitting in the classroom was a bit stuffy; he was naturally inclined to sports under the blue sky.
Once the homeroom teacher had gone far enough away, Luo Yang called Hong Jiaxin.
The phone connected, and Hong Jiaxin's voice came through: "Hello, who is this?"
Luo Yang chuckled twice, and Hong Jiaxin recognized his voice.
"Hey, not many people know my number, how did you find it?"
"Asked Teacher Su for it."
"Do you want something?"
"You asked me to wait for you in the classroom, has the meeting ended?"
Laughter came from the other end of the phone. She might have forgotten about this.
"Not yet. You go ahead and do your thing, I'll introduce you to the Sorority members another time. Sorry about that," Hong Jiaxin said with a laugh.
"Did you do it on purpose?"
"Hey, don't think of me as so petty. Hehe, no more talking, I'm going back to the meeting. Bye."
After hanging up, he checked the time; it was almost six o'clock in the evening.
In a good mood, he felt like playing basketball.
Xiao Daniu should be on the old sports field playing basketball. With over an hour before evening self-study started, half an hour of basketball would be fine, so Luo Yang headed towards the old sports field.
The old sports field was at the front gate, and the new sports field at the back gate.
The new sports field was freshly laid, all yellow clay, so students generally chose the old sports field's basketball court to play on, where the cement ground had less dust.
