Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

It was a beautiful sunny day in Greece. The children were playing, the mothers were calling them to come inside, and there was a nice breeze. Up in Olympus, the gods were fairly happy as well. Everyone was happy, and nothing could've ruined their amazing mood... or so they thought.

Rumble... rumble...

It was quite mysterious. A nice breezy day interrupted by a tiny earthquake. Only one boy noticed it. He was a clever child, and he knew something must be wrong. Suddenly... the earthquake started to get larger, stronger. Everyone had started to notice it by now. Even up on Olympus, Hermes, the messenger god, had started to realize that something was not right. This was not any normal earthquake.

Hermes had a confident smile. He had long, brown hair that flowed down to his shoulders, and he wore his ever-famous winged sandals, and wore Ancient Greek armor in the color orange. At his side, he held his symbol of power: the caduceus. It was a staff with two snakes intertwined at the top. Since he was also the god of haste, he spoke quickly, wasting no time.

" Lord Zeus!" he yelled, quickly losing his smile. "Look down to the mortal world! This does not look normal!" Zeus, being quite clueless about the mortal world, didn't know how strong a normal earthquake was, so he didn't really see anything abnormal.

Zeus, the lightning god, and king of the gods, had a cloudy white beard and white hair, and wore Ancient Greek armor, but this time, in the color of gold, with lightning bolts the color of lemons on the sides of the breastplate. He held his symbol of power, his Supreme Bolt, which looked exactly like an actual lightning bolt, and it crackled with power every few seconds. Zeus had a confident, sturdy aura, and when he spoke, his voice boomed deeply throughout the halls of the Palace of Olympus.

"Ah, Hermes, I'm sure this is just my brother, Poseidon, stirring up another one of these 'earthquakes' with his trident. He does have a bit of a temper," Zeus said.

"Well, if it's really him, he must be in a bit of a rage to hit his trident that hard... at least summon him and ask him if he caused it?" said Hermes.

Just then, the sea god Poseidon teleported to Mount Olympus from under the ocean, making it quite unnecessary to summon him.

"Zeus? What is going on in the mortal world? This is definitely not my doing!" exclaimed Poseidon.

Poseidon had an easygoing look, but looked a little stern when he wanted to be. He had a soft, calming voice at times like the sea at the beach, and at other times, he sounded as fierce as the stormy ocean. He had long, sea green hair and a long, sea green beard. He wore a necklace embedded with seashells, and his chest was bare. On his left hand, he held his symbol of power: the trident. It had three sharp points which merged and led down to one long, sturdy handle. The handle was sea green, and the three tips were made of some sharp kind of steel. Poseidon gripped it cautiously as if ready to use it at any moment.

'Not Poseidon's doing? Quite odd,' Zeus thought. 'Only one other thing could've caused such an earthquake...'

Zeus finally realized what was happening. His Supreme Bolt of power seemed to glow and crackle more.

"Uh oh..." he said. "Hermes? Alert all the gods: we have to be ready for war."

"Why should I- oh... no... it couldn't be... it couldn't be her, Lord Zeus, right? That would be catastrophic for us, and-"

"Enough, Hermes. Send the message now, go on.

Hermes teleported away to deliver the message to all the gods.

"Brother?" Poseidon said. "What is the meaning of this? Who is this 'her' that Hermes spoke of?"

"Do you remember, dear Poseidon, the person that tried to overthrow us in the old days? Her children have tried to thwart us multiple times."

"Oh. Oh. It's her. Gaea, the Earth. She's awakened again, hasn't she?"

Zeus didn't like it, he wanted to deny it, but it was the truth.

"Indeed, brother. She has risen once more to try to destroy Olympus."
