Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Gaea had awaken.

What a beautiful world, she thought. It feels amazing to be back once again. Now, my grandson Zeus shall finally be dethroned. I am stronger now than ever before.

She decided to use the Earth to create a physical form in the shape of a human in which she could roam about, like old times. The Earth crumbled and created it. It was an earthen body, with plants growing in random spots, and jewels and rocks in its hair.

"Oh, it feels good to have a physical form again," she said to herself. "Now, what should I do to make sure that Zeus loses his throne?"

She looked around for ideas and spotted a bunch of mortals freaking out about the earthquake which had suddenly stopped.

"Ah, mortals. So easily manipulated, and they can easily be made powerful. Perfect minions. Perhaps I should make one to destroy Zeus and his council of gods."

So, out of clay, she fashioned a baby mortal, soon to grow extremely smart and strong. Right as she finished making him, he started to cry.

"I shall name you Dolofonos, the killer. Quite fitting for what you must do in the future. And as for how, do not worry, little one. I have made you with divine powers, capable to kill even an immortal."

And then, she made a baby towel with Dolofonos' name on it, and tucked him inside. Right after she tucked him in, her physical form crumbled and went back into the Earth. She was now going to watch the baby and see how it did in life. It does sound rude, but she just left the baby there, on the mud, waiting for someone to find it, or maybe, if he was strong enough, to go and find someone himself. He was an extremely powerful being, after all.

A few years later...

Dolofonos had recently turned 18 but couldn't even celebrate it, living on the streets. No one would accept him into the orphanage. No one would adopt him. No schools or universities would accept him. Everyone was scared of the weird, ugly, muscly kid who didn't even have any known parents. His name was scary, too. Gaea didn't help him by putting the killer on his baby towel.

He usually wore a ragged shirt and ragged jeans, and had dark, uneven hair that looked like it was cut with a chainsaw. He also had a deep voice, not confident like Zeus's, but more like strong man deep voice. Dolofonos had no friends except for one: Adonis.

Adonis was the same age as Dolofonos, went to school when he was younger and everyone loved him. In other words, he had everything Dolofonos didn't. They usually met up in the back of Adonis's villa, a nice garden with lilies and poppies and roses and flowers of all kinds. They went there for their meetups because Adonis's parents would never let him go outside the house, being extremely overprotective.

One evening, they met up and something peculiar had happened. Dolofonos climbed up the fence and got into the garden very stealthily. Adonis's parents didn't like Dolofonos, and said that their son should not be hanging around such people, so they always kept their friendship a secret. He saw Adonis sitting by the back door.

He had nice features, a handsome face, and he had short, dark hair. He wore a casual tee and pants. His family was rich but he didn't like to flaunt it much.

"Hey, Adonis," Dolofonos said.

"What's up, Dolofonos? Are you alright?" said Adonis. "Whoa. You're bleeding a lot on your arm."

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. A dog bit my arm a little hard. But it's fine, doesn't hurt too much."

"Doesn't hurt too much? Dude, that looks pretty major. C'mere, I can try to fix that."

"How would you even fix it? There's no way," Dolofonos laughed. Even though he knew Adonis couldn't do anything, he gave his bleeding arm to him

Adonis checked out the arm. "This is not good, man. You could get rabies or something."

"Yeah, right. You've seen how I've fared with other diseases and stuff."

"Well, I guess, but I'm still worried." Dolofonos had been one of the only people in the entirety of Athens to not be affected by a plague once. His immune system was crazy good.

"Oh, it's fine, I don't feel hurt." Dolofonos tugged his arm away from Adonis, and accidentally brushed the wounded part against a lily.

"Oops... wait... is my arm... is it healing?" He wasn't kidding. His arm was healing from the touch of the lily.

Adonis's eyes were wide open.

"Dude! You have flower healing powers! That's weird! But it's so cool, too!" He grinned like a crazy person.

Dolofonos was astonished... how was this possible?

"YOU ARE MY CHILD..." boomed a female voice that seemed to emanate from the ground.

"ONE OF YOUR MANY ABILITIES IS HEALING FROM THE TOUCH OF THE EARTH, MY SON..."

Gaea willed the earth to make her physical form again, and appeared in front of Dolofonos and Adonis.

Adonis's eyes were, yet again, wide open, but this time, in fear.

"You're Gaea! That means... Dolofonos! You're the son of Gaea!" Adonis was horrified. He knew Gaea was not good. She was evil in all the Ancient Greek myths. He didn't feel too good about her being Dolofonos's mother...

As for Dolofonos, he was still trying to process that the Earth itself, one of the greatest villains of the gods in Ancient Greek history, was his mom. He also felt mad, for not taking care of him all these years. He stood up angrily.

"One of the oldest primordial beings," he growled. "Supposed to be all-powerful, but apparently can't care enough to take care of her own son? Where were you all these years when I needed you? I had to go through 18 years of hardship with no one that cared about me except for Adonis!"

Gaea smiled. "My child, I understand your anger, but I had to see if you were truly what I made you to be. I was watching you since your birth. You are not like other humans. I made you directly from clay, and I made you strong, brave, and smart. Most important of all, you have the power to destroy immortals."

Dolofonos was stunned. "So, you're telling me... that if I wanted, I could kill you?"

Panic flared for a split second in Gaea's eyes. "Well, I suppose you could, but you wouldn't do that to me, right? I mean, you wouldn't even be alive if it weren't for me!"

"I guess not. But why have you made me with such power? You definitely have some evil, twisted-"

Gaea interrupted: "So that you could kill Zeus and his council of gods and get my children to be the Olympians instead. If you did it, I would even make you a major god! How about it? You would get endless power from killing the gods and gaining their powers too!"

Adonis knew what Gaea was doing. She was manipulating Dolofonos and using him. He couldn't let this happen. He knew from years with Dolofonos that the one thing that he wanted more than anything else was more power. Gaea had made him like that so he would be easy to convince. but the Olympians were better rulers than the Titans or Giants. Most of all, he didn't want to lose his best friend.

Dolofonos got a twinkle in his eyes. He seemed to like the idea of endless power.

"Dolofonos! Don't listen to her! She's not on the right side!" Adonis yelled, but he knew he was losing Dolofonos. He wasn't paying much attention to his words.

Gaea glared at Adonis. "Shut your mouth, boy. He needs to make his own decisions." She raised her hand and some earth rose from the ground and clamped Adonis's mouth shut.

"Mmph!" Adonis muffled in protest.

"Gaea?" Dolofonos called.

"Yes, my dear?" Gaea asked.

"I've made my choice." Dolofonos replied.

Adonis held his breath, waiting.

Gaea was smiling expectantly.

"I've chosen to neither deny nor accept your offer."

Both Gaea and Adonis were confused.

"Dolofonos?" Gaea said. "What do you mean?"

"I mean," said Dolofonos, "I'm going to kill all the Ancient Greek deities and gain their powers. I'm going to become the ruler of the universe."

A grin slowly spread on his face...
