Chapter 104 - Chapter 233: Encounter with Sentinel Robots

This was a routine operation for him.

Professor X had once constructed a mental cage in Jean Grey's mind to imprison the Dark Phoenix persona. Unfortunately, none of the mental cages Professor X had created, including the one for himself, had proven completely impenetrable or everlasting.

Syd recalled a future event where, after a confrontation with Magneto, Professor X had forcibly invaded Magneto's mind. This caused a fracture in the mental barrier that contained his own negative thoughts. The resulting fusion of negative thoughts between him and Magneto gave rise to a formidable entity known as Onslaught.

Onslaught had annihilated numerous superheroes. If not for Franklin Richards' intervention, many would have perished…

With that thought, Syd's attention shifted back to Professor X.

At this moment, a familiar, burly, and rugged middle-aged man with a beard and a somewhat weathered but still handsome appearance, Chris, seemed to hesitate between speaking to Professor X and addressing Syd.

Before Chris could say anything, Syd spoke up, addressing Professor X directly, "Where are the Sentinel robots? Take me to them."

Logan and the others were surprised by Syd's immediate move to confront the Sentinels.

No preparations?

They were about to voice their concerns when they remembered that Syd was the Messiah. If even he couldn't handle the Sentinels, then no one could!

Cyclops Scott Summers said solemnly, "Messiah, I'll take you there."

"I'll go too," Storm Ororo Munroe added.

Logan also indicated his desire to join.

Cyclops, seeing their determination, expressed his concerns, "No, the Sentinels are too dangerous. I should go alone with the Messiah. If anything…"

Before he could finish, Logan interrupted, "Cyclops, stop being so cautious. If I say I'm going, then I'm going!"

Storm nodded in agreement.

Cyclops, realizing he couldn't dissuade them, reluctantly agreed to let the three of them come along.

Soon, the group left the X-Mansion and boarded a black sedan, heading toward the area where the Sentinel robots frequently appeared.

"I hope everything goes smoothly…"

Watching the black car drive away, Professor X muttered with concern.

Beast Hank McCoy reassured him, "Professor, don't worry. With the Messiah there, everything will be fine."

Charles knew this, but the terrifying nature of the Sentinels still made him uneasy.

During their conversation, they didn't notice that Iceman, Kitty Pryde, and other students had disappeared.

At that moment, Iceman and his companions were in a car, following the direction in which Syd and the others had gone.

"Bobby, is this really okay?" Kitty Pryde asked worriedly.

She clearly wasn't comfortable with tailing Logan and the others.

"What's the big deal? We're not going to fight, just observing from a distance," said a young mutant named Ludwin excitedly.

Iceman Bobby agreed, "He's right, Kitty. We're just watching from afar. Aren't you curious about the fight?"

Kitty Pryde hesitated but couldn't resist her curiosity, reluctantly agreeing to follow.

One car trailed the other...

After more than half an hour, they arrived at the location where the Sentinels were active, following the information they had.

Syd slowly got out of the car and surveyed the desolate, remote area.

There were no Sentinels in sight.

As he was about to ask Logan and the others, he suddenly heard some noises.

In the distance, there was the sound of gunfire…

Syd looked in the direction of the noise and began walking towards it.

Behind him, Storm and the others looked puzzled.

Logan called out, "Syd, where are you going?"

Seeing that he didn't respond, they could only follow him, feeling both helpless and confused.

After a short while, Logan's expression changed, indicating he had heard something.

"Logan, what's wrong?" Storm asked.

Before Logan could answer, they all heard the noise and looked toward the source with astonishment.

They soon came upon a horrifying scene.

In the distance, three tall, dark Sentinels were relentlessly attacking a building.

Boom!

A laser beam tore through the house, creating a large hole.

"Sentinels?" Logan and the others noticed a few screams coming from inside the building.

They saw the rightmost Sentinel holding a young man. The man appeared unconscious and wore a collar, clearly a mutant power suppressor.

Logan and the others initially focused on the Sentinels, but soon realized how precise Syd's earlier actions had been.

Had Syd detected them early?

As they pondered this, unsure of how to proceed, Syd continued walking towards the Sentinels.

"Syd…" Logan and the others were taken aback.

Just as they approached, the Sentinels seemed to detect something. They stopped attacking and turned their attention towards Syd.

It was as if a setting had been triggered—Syd became their primary target. The mutants in the building were completely ignored.

The Sentinels had seemingly decided that the Messiah was their first target.

Inside the building, the four captives trembled with fear.

"Sentinels…"

"Three monsters!"

"What are we going to do? Are we going to die?"

Despairingly, they awaited their fate.

Suddenly, they noticed that the Sentinels had stopped attacking.

Confused, they cautiously peeked outside and were stunned to see that the Sentinels were now intently focused on the distance.

Instead of launching another attack, they seemed to be waiting, observing with great caution.

"What's happening?"

"Why are they not attacking?"

The four were perplexed and confused.

The behavior of the Sentinels contradicted their previous experiences. They were known for being aggressive, ruthless, and quick to attack.

Now, their stillness was completely unexpected.

The four captives watched in bewilderment as the Sentinels stood silently, seemingly engaged in some sort of standoff.
