Thinking about the Time Variance Authority, Syd felt a twinge of caution.
This organization held significant power, influencing numerous timelines and making appearances in the Loki TV series.
In "Avengers: Endgame," to bring back the half of humanity that was erased by Thanos's snap, the Avengers used quantum tunnels to travel back to the events of the first Avengers film, which is the present timeline.
Their mission was to retrieve the Infinity Stones, which had been destroyed by Thanos in their original timeline. They had to travel back to this point to collect the stones, revive the vanished people, and then return the stones to their rightful places.
During this process, the Tesseract accidentally fell into Loki's hands while he was being captured in the first Avengers film. Naturally, Loki seized the opportunity to escape using the Tesseract.
The TV series "Loki" tells the story of this Loki who deviated from his predetermined fate.
As a result, the Time Variance Authority targeted Loki, an anomaly in the timeline.
According to the original timeline, Loki was supposed to be captured and returned to Asgard, where he would go through a series of events, including several faked deaths to deceive Thor. Eventually, he would face a true death at the hands of Thanos, who would snap his neck.
Thor, having witnessed the deaths of his father, mother, sister, and finally Loki, was left utterly devastated. Most of those close to him had perished, leaving him as a tragic figure in the legendary saga.
"Syd, you really are a misfortune magnet…"
Syd shook his head, commenting with a hint of sarcasm, "Will I end up being another victim because of him?"
Of course, this was just a jest. There were very few things on Earth that could threaten him, and he didn't think he was in any real danger.
Syd continued to ponder about Loki.
Loki's escape from his original fate created a new timeline, drawing the attention of the Time Variance Authority, which promptly sent agents to apprehend him.
Faced with the Time Variance Authority's advanced technology, Loki had no means of resisting and was quickly captured.
Inside the TVA, Loki was sentenced to a reset—essentially a death sentence.
Loki learned much about his own fate and the TVA's operations.
Many years ago, a multiverse war had nearly destroyed everything, but the Time Keepers emerged, merging the multiverses into a single timeline and maintaining peace.
This merged timeline is known as the Sacred Timeline.
The TVA is an organization responsible for managing and correcting the timeline. It exists in a unique dimensional space called the Null Zone, where time does not affect it.
Their mission is to oversee, adjust, and balance the countless timelines within the multiverse, aiming to monitor reality and minimize time interference.
Loki's actions were clearly against the rules, leading to his arrest.
The Avengers' time travel was considered legal, recognized by the TVA, which is why no one came after them.
"I wonder if the Avengers will come here to retrieve the Infinity Stones?"
Syd furrowed his brow, contemplating.
If they did show up, Loki's deviation from his original fate would lead to the TVA's intervention.
Suddenly, Syd shook his head.
"Compared to Loki, I'm more of a problem, aren't I?"
Unlike Loki, who only caused minor disruptions, Syd's influence was far more significant, affecting many lives and altering destinies.
"For instance, even if Loki does nothing now, my influence would still change his future."
If the TVA appeared, their primary focus would likely be him rather than Loki.
Thus, the thought of the TVA made Syd wary, as they could be a significant threat.
Although TVA agents lack superpowers, their technology is incredibly advanced, from a distant future.
For example, time criminals who enter the TVA lose their superpowers, unable to use their abilities or magic, becoming ordinary people.
Syd wondered curiously, "I wonder if the TVA can suppress my mutant abilities?"
Are the TVA's technologies more advanced, or are they better at replicating mutant abilities?
He was intrigued but had no chance to test this since the TVA agents hadn't appeared yet.
Syd also considered whether he should stop the Avengers if they came through.
After all, if they took the stones and something went wrong, leaving the universe without the stones, the consequences would be severe.
Like what Ancient One said to Hulk:
"If the stones are borrowed for your reality's survival, what about mine?"
Clearly, Ancient One understood the implications of timelines and was reluctant to part with the Time Stone.
Despite the risks, Hulk's persuasion and Doctor Strange's involvement led Ancient One to reluctantly hand over the stone.
After some reflection, Syd observed the ongoing battle.
Tony Stark and Captain America had reached the breach in the carrier, attempting to repair it. However, with Barton and others causing havoc, their efforts were futile.
High above, the carrier was slowly descending.
It wouldn't be long before everyone would fall with it, facing death or worse.
Syd paid little attention to this and continued to enjoy the unfolding drama.
Thor had discarded the Hulk and was heading towards Loki's glass prison.
As for the Hulk, he had attacked a fighter jet, tearing it apart, and was now plummeting from the high altitude.
Syd glanced at the Hulk and then lost interest. Even if he fell into lava, the Hulk wouldn't die.
Syd slowly followed Thor amidst the cacophony of battle, preparing to see Loki.
Soon, he and Thor arrived at the prison where Loki was held.
Upon arrival, they saw Loki had already managed to open the cell door.
"No!"
Thor roared, charging at Loki in an attempt to prevent his escape.
However, Thor ended up diving into a projection of Loki's illusion.
