In the world of Penadict, where people and droids from across the land share the habitable islands, there lies the semi-urban city of Vanadan. Nestled on one of these islands, Vanadan is where young dreamers and adventurers begin their journey toward greatness. One such journey is about to begin for a boy named Varg.
At fourteen years old, Varg was ready to leave for Bager Academy, the renowned institution where countless youths trained to become skilled Bageren. Standing at the threshold of his home, Varg felt the weight of the adventure ahead pressing upon him. He turned to his parents, his heart a mix of excitement and unease.
"Mom, Dad," Varg said softly, trying to mask the nerves in his voice, "I might not come back from there… Please take care of yourselves."
His mother gave him a fond but exasperated look. "Oh, stop being so dramatic, Varg. You'll be back in six months! Here, take these snacks with you. You'll get hungry on the way," she said, pushing a bundle of wrapped food into his hands.
Varg smiled despite himself. "I'm going to miss you, Mom," he replied, his voice quieter.
His father, watching from the side, let out a warm chuckle. "You'll be fine, lad. Just keep your head on straight." He paused for a moment, then pulled something from his belt—a hilt, beautifully crafted and clearly aged with use. "Here," his father said, placing it carefully into Varg's hand. "This is our family heirloom. It's been passed down through generations, and now it's yours. I'm sure it'll serve you well."
Varg stared at the hilt, feeling its weight and the history it carried. And he nodded, as his determination growing. "I will, Dad. Thank you."
His father ruffled Varg's hair with a grin. "Now, no more worrying. Say goodbye to your mother properly. And don't forget—message us often. We'll be waiting to hear from you. But most importantly, take care of yourself."
With a deep breath, Varg stepped back and waved to his parents. "Goodbye, Mom. Goodbye, Dad. I'll do my best, I promise."
And with that, Varg set off toward Bager Academy, ready to begin a new chapter of his life. As the wind carried him away from Vanadan, he couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement building within him. New challenges, mysteries, and friendships awaited him. He would face them all head-on with his family's heirloom by his side and his heart set on adventure.
