The runes on the Hunter Bullets are likely considered core technology within the Hunter Association. Therefore, it's currently impossible for Wen Wen to obtain the method of creating these bullets. However, Wen Wen fully understands the rune itself. If he could engrave this rune onto bullets or blades, could it have a positive effect?
Wen Wen took out a notebook and carefully drew the rune, ensuring that there wasn't the slightest mistake before he finally stopped. As a detective, drawing is a necessary skill… perhaps.
Wen Wen carefully placed the paper into the inner pocket of his black trench coat. He planned to learn how to engrave metal later on, so he could create weapons with special abilities.
With this matter handled, he moved on to his next task. After walking a short distance, he found an oddly shaped refrigerator, where he had stored the remaining blood bags.
The Calamity Containment Facility had full water and electricity services, and all kinds of appliances were available. Although their designs differed from those in the outside world, and some were even more advanced, Wen Wen could use them without any issues.
As Wen Wen brought the basin of blood closer, the female vampire turned her back to him, facing away. She wasn't as hungry as before, so she could maintain her dignity as a vampire, at least not behaving like a ravenous beast as she had last time.
Every few days, Wen Wen had to feed the female vampire. If he didn't, her strength would decline, which would in turn make Wen Wen himself weaker, so he wouldn't let her go too hungry. Fortunately, the female vampire now only needed one blood bag per feeding, unlike the first time when she drank over twenty bags, forcing Wen Wen to go through the trouble of stealing more.
"Come on, drink it," Wen Wen said impatiently, pushing the dog bowl into the cell.
The female vampire initially didn't want to pay attention to Wen Wen, but she couldn't resist the temptation of the blood. After a brief moment, she reluctantly turned around, moving close to the bowl, and started drinking greedily.
"I am a noble vampire. Couldn't you at least provide me with a more dignified container?" she suggested tentatively after taking a couple of sips.
"What do you want to use instead?" Wen Wen asked while picking at his ear.
To be honest, watching the female vampire lick a dog bowl gave him a sense of satisfaction, but to avoid appearing too perverse, he decided to consider her request.
Seeing Wen Wen was inclined to agree, the female vampire's eyes lit up, and she quickly said, "A pure silver goblet, preferably adorned with jewels."
"You're pushing your luck. You'd better stick with the dog bowl," Wen Wen's face darkened, and he disappeared from the containment facility.
"Hey, hey, don't leave! How about just a regular small bowl?" The female vampire sighed, staring at the blood residue in the dog bowl, her expression changing several times before she finally picked it up and licked it clean.
…
After leaving the containment facility, Wen Wen started his daily training routine.
First, he practiced the freezing ability he had acquired from the ghost Qin Shuang. He placed his hand on a plastic bucket filled with water, letting out a wave of cold air. In no time, the bucket was completely frozen.
"Phew… that'll do. Qin Shuang was too weak; the potential of this ability is limited."
Wen Wen's freezing ability, stored in the ring on his index finger, could freeze a can of cola with just a snap of his fingers… At this point, that's its main use. Relying on this ability in combat would get Wen Wen beaten to a pulp in no time.
"Maybe I should let that little ghost out and catch him again after he transforms into a wraith… No, no, that's too dangerous."
Wen Wen shook his head vigorously, suppressing the dangerous thoughts in his mind.
He was a man of action, with the brains to execute his plans. Having captured many high-IQ criminals, Wen Wen knew how much damage someone like him could cause if he ever turned to the dark side.
Therefore, Wen Wen constantly suppressed certain twisted thoughts. He was well aware that falling into darkness begins with dangerous ideas.
Wen Wen then sat back in his lounge chair and summoned his black glove. Even under the sunlight, its pitch-black color didn't fade in the slightest, while the golden metal rings on it reflected a dazzling light, creating a stark contrast.
"What exactly are you…"
Although Wen Wen still didn't fully understand the Calamity Containment Facility, he at least had some grasp of it. However, the black glove remained a mystery.
Besides allowing him to borrow the abilities of the creatures in the containment facility, the glove had another special characteristic—it was indestructible.
Wen Wen had tried cutting it with a knife, chopping it with an axe, and even drilling into it with a power drill, but nothing could damage the glove, not even causing him pain.
Additionally, whenever the glove appeared, his right hand became slightly stronger, though not significantly so. Even so, the increased strength was noticeable.
Sometimes, Wen Wen wondered whether, when the glove appeared, that hand was still his own.
That black substance, rather than being a mere glove, seemed more like a part of another creature's body!
"Maybe this is my unique supernatural ability. If that's the case, it should have a name… I'll call it 'Calamity'!"
…
Walking down the street, the warm sunlight made Wen Wen feel a bit itchy. Constantly using the basic abilities of a vampire had slightly altered his sensitivity to sunlight.
Today, Wen Wen was heading out for another training session, intending to hone his sense of smell, one of the basic vampire abilities.
While using his vampire physique, all of his senses became sharper. He could hear the sound of blood flowing, see clearly in the dark, and his sense of smell became extremely sensitive, like that of a dog.
Wen Wen now aimed to effectively utilize these heightened senses, starting with training his sense of smell.
The first stage of being a superhuman is exploration—exploring the limits of one's abilities. That's why Wen Wen had been engaging in various forms of training, and his strength had already significantly improved compared to when he first started.
Yesterday, he had caught a few stray cats and dogs nearby, sprayed them with a peculiar-smelling perfume, and then released them.
Today, Wen Wen intended to track down every single one of those cats and dogs, relying solely on his sense of smell!
This exercise would greatly enhance his olfactory abilities, which could prove invaluable in the future!
The search turned out to be more challenging than expected. Once he focused on identifying specific scents, a barrage of unpleasant odors bombarded his nose. Picking out the scent of the perfume from this overwhelming mix proved difficult.
But this didn't deter Wen Wen. After a period of sniffing and analyzing, he successfully located an orange fat cat.
"Come here, little cutie. Come to Uncle," Wen Wen whispered, stealthily approaching. It was broad daylight, so to avoid any trouble, he refrained from using his supernatural abilities.
Suddenly, his phone rang, startling the fat cat, which immediately arched its back and, with a few leaps, disappeared from Wen Wen's sight.
Though the cat got away, Wen Wen wasn't too disappointed. Finding it meant his training had already succeeded. He answered the call, seeing an unfamiliar number on the screen.
"Hello, this is Wen Wen speaking," he said, pressing the answer button.
"Hello, is this Detective Wen?" The voice on the other end belonged to a woman, speaking in the common language with a slight unfamiliarity, indicating she wasn't a local of Huafu District.
"Yes, it is. May I ask who's calling?" Wen Wen raised an eyebrow, sensing a potential job.
"I'd like to hire you to help me find someone…" The woman's voice trembled slightly, suggesting she was in need of assistance.
