Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 The Needs of Female Vampires

A few days had passed, and during this time, Wen Wen had not gone hunting for monsters. Instead, he focused on enhancing his knowledge about superhumans through various channels.

He had confidence in prepared monster hunts, but his understanding of the superhuman world was still lacking, which made him ill-equipped for unexpected situations. The incident with the feathered serpent had already made that clear.

Moreover, as a detective, Wen Wen had strong counter-surveillance skills and had noticed that someone had been monitoring him over the past few days.

It was only logical. As an organization that oversees superhumans, the Hunter Association wouldn't just sign a few documents and leave him alone.

This was also why Wen Wen had not taken any action in the past few days. He had not even entered the Calamity Containment Zone, as he did not want the existence of the containment zone to be exposed to the Hunter Association.

Although there were no cameras in the hotel, Wen Wen suspected that the Hunter Association might be using some strange methods to keep an eye on him.

"Ugh... I've almost finished supplementing all the necessary knowledge. The people monitoring me should have retreated by now. Staying here any longer and I'll start to mold."

Wen Wen sighed, tossed the empty instant noodle cup into the trash, and began to walk around the hotel. The observers he had previously noticed had disappeared.

He then packed up his belongings and moved to another hotel, carefully observing his surroundings along the way to confirm that he was no longer being watched.

"It seems the surveillance on me really has ended."

Wen Wen finally relaxed. Being watched was an uncomfortable feeling, but there was a silver lining to these days of being monitored—he no longer had to be overly concerned about the Hunter Association.

He then started to exercise by throwing punches and kicks. His movements were large and fast, with the swishing sound of wind accompanying his actions, but his feet landed lightly.

While this exercise didn't improve his combat ability, it helped him become more familiar with his vampire physique.

Moreover, Wen Wen had a vague sense that as he used his vampire abilities more, his physical strength was gradually increasing.

It was foreseeable that as he developed the Calamity Containment Zone abilities, he would become stronger even without relying on the gloves.

After some exercise, Wen Wen stopped and furrowed his brow.

"My movements have become sluggish… What's the reason?"

He had been focusing on gathering information and enhancing his knowledge over the past few days, not noticing the changes in his body. When he realized his movements had slowed, he became immediately concerned.

At his current stage, his vampire physique was crucial for his survival, so he took it very seriously.

"I haven't done anything these days, so the problem shouldn't be with me. Besides, I shouldn't need to drink blood…"

After thinking for a moment, Wen Wen entered the restroom, closed the door securely, and accessed the Calamity Containment Zone, arriving at the cell of Disaster-0001.

If he was fine, then the problem could only be with the imprisoned female vampire inside the containment zone.

When Wen Wen arrived, the female vampire was slumped in a corner, while the little ghost Qin Shuang was making faces at her, their roles reversed.

As soon as the female vampire saw Wen Wen, her eyes turned crimson, and she quickly appeared at the edge of the cell, extending her hand towards him.

However, Wen Wen was at least a meter away from the bars, and even if she stretched out her arm, she couldn't reach him.

The cell was also immovable for her.

The female vampire should have been aware of this, but she persisted in reaching out towards Wen Wen.

Wen Wen frowned; the female vampire's condition seemed off. She was much weaker than at first and less rational than before.

"Could it be… she's hungry?"

He pricked his fingertip and let a drop of blood fall, waving it in front of the female vampire. Her head followed his finger, like a begging dog.

"Well, it seems she's really hungry. Does the Calamity Containment Zone not provide food..."

Looking at the lively little ghost Qin Shuang nearby, Wen Wen scratched his head. It seemed his ability was tied to the strength of the monster in the cell.

The stronger the monster, the stronger his abilities. Therefore, he couldn't let the female vampire remain in such a weakened state.

The ghost Qin Shuang didn't show any abnormalities, indicating that ghosts didn't require energy replenishment like vampires did.

The female vampire had only begun to weaken recently, which showed her resilience. She had been tortured after being captured, losing a lot of blood, and had not had a chance to feed, further weakening her.

"Looks like I have to be not just a monster catcher but also a caretaker..."

Vampires were common monsters, and Wen Wen could access information about them.

Low-level vampires fall into a state of irrationality after not feeding for an extended period. They only regain their senses once they consume enough blood.

If blood isn't provided in time, the vampire's bodily functions will rapidly shut down, and they will enter a dormant state until they can feed again.

So, if Wen Wen didn't provide her with blood, the female vampire would fall into a deep sleep, rendering his ability effectively useless.

Exiting the Calamity Containment Zone, Wen Wen checked the time—it was early morning, with a clear moon and few stars, the perfect time for less conspicuous activities.

So, he donned his black trench coat, attached the Calamity Containment Zone badge to his neck, and stealthily jumped out of the window, moving like a thief.

Well, he was going to steal something.

Wen Wen's target was a nearby hospital, Renzhi Community Hospital, which had its own blood bank. Wen Wen aimed to steal some blood from there.

For someone with a vampire physique, stealing blood should be quite simple.

He just wanted to feed the female vampire. Whether the blood was fresh or its taste didn't concern him.

Even if he wanted to capture a notorious criminal for the female vampire to feed on, he couldn't bring an ordinary person into the Calamity Containment Zone.

Standing in the shadows outside the hospital, Wen Wen felt a bit frustrated.

The hospital was more crowded than he had expected. Even at night, there were many people receiving treatment, as illnesses don't wait for daylight.

For convenience, Wen Wen was dressed in a black trench coat, but now this attire was not suitable for entering the hospital.

Entering was not the issue, but the visibility…

He circled the hospital and found that half of the rooms in the west annex of the main building were dark. Wen Wen's expression brightened. This was a potential entry point into the hospital.
