"Not fully, but yes, I have tapped in some of it," I said with a smile. "What did you mean by tapped into?" Adam asked. "Leave before I throw you out myself; you don't need to know any more than this," I threatened."All right, your highness, let's make a deal; you only stay till your apartment is being renovated," he proposed."Why am I staying at your house? How about the guesthouse owned by the company?" That kind of thing doesn't exist," he scoffed.
"What makes you so insistent about my living situation?" I enquired. "Princess, I'm worried about you. What happened here puts you in grave danger. Adam answered, "I just want to be your protector." "I don't need a protector, as you have now experienced it firsthand." I mocked him. "Okay, you don't need a protector, but you can use someone as your companion. Just so that we have each other back." Adam said.
I looked at him and didn't answer him. I told him to wait in the living room for some time. I could actually make this opportunity work. I can be close to him and get answers to my questions. I still need to know how he turned into a vampire. Access to his home might open doors to his secrets. After giving it a good thought. I picked up the bag I was packing and moved towards the living area.
"Alright, I'm willing to move in with you temporarily at your house, but there must be some ground rules." I insisted. He gave me a nod to continue. "Firstly, separate bedrooms and restrooms; second, don't ever meddle in each other's personal affairs. Thirdly, not asking one another about each other's whereabouts. Last but not least, respecting each other's personal space and rooms." Adam gave me a thumbs up and smiled as he glanced at me. "If that is what you wish, Princess."
After I explained what I wanted to the interior teams, who showed up sooner than I had anticipated, we left my apartment. Nathan was able to get them on the phone. I thanked him via text message. "Can we go for a cup of coffee some time?" he asked me on the text. I thought for some time and finally agreed. "Yes ofcourse. Maybe next weekend, is that okay?" I texted him back. Nathan replied with a thumbs up.
I took my own car, even though Adam insisted I ride with him. He sent me the coordinates to his place almost immediately on my personal phone. I wonder where he got my number from. I reached his apartment's parking lot after him. He was there standing near his car, waiting for me. As I was exiting my car, "What took you so long?" Adam shot his question. "I don't drive so rashly like you," I said. "Why afraid to die?" he said. This made both of us laugh for a while. We headed for the lift. He pressed the top floor. He is living in a penthouse. We reached the lobby of the penthouse, and he shared his security password with me. The security system was tighter than I anticipated. There were three locking systems from the lift to the main door. We entered his flat after he explained everything to me.
Smoky gray and white were the sole color schemes used throughout the penthouse. The living room was furnished with curved pieces. There were texture paintings on the walls. The ceiling was high, and the draperies were pastel blue. A tiny Koi pond was situated in the room's corner. A large painting of a girl covered in blood with long hair tangles shadowing her face was placed in the center. However, her mesmerizing eyes were apparent. You can see the fight in them; that painting has so many details that I was briefly taken aback by it. An open modular kitchen completed the space. Through the tall glass window, the living space faced the view of the city.
Adam guided me down a hallway. In all, there were five doors. He led the way to the end of the hallway. Subsequently, he unlocked the final door, granting me entry into the designated room. "I just got the room cleaned for you. If you want anything to be added to this or if you need anything, let me know. After you freshen up, I'll see you for dinner." After saying this, Adam walked away. The room was larger than the one I had at my house right now. Mint green paint was used on the walls. The tint of the wall contrasts sharply with the white bedheadpost. With the white sheer curtains, the cream-colored sofa set complemented the entire space. A study area overlooked the city. I went to look around the bathroom. It was as opulent as the room. It matched the color of the room that complemented it.
The focal point of the setting was a circular bathtub situated upon a raised platform. I unpacked a little for the time being. Took a quick shower and changed into a black satin top with matching night shorts. I did wash my hair, so I used the dryer for a bit. Not completely drying my hair, they become frizzy. Putting my phone on charge. Bare feet, I padded towards the living area. I noticed Adam calmly staring out at the city from the couch. In the kitchen, I noticed a girl in her twenties cooking. I went to check on her. "Hi there, what's cooking?" I asked. She looked at me, bowing down. "Your highness, I am Amanda, your cook tonight. As told by sir, I am serving you grilled chicken with beans, mashed potatoes, and asparagus on the side. Including this refreshing drink I just made.Kindly give it a shot, ma'am." I picked up the glass and took a sip. With a blend of citrus and berry notes with a zingy taste at the end, it was quite refreshing. I nodded to her and sat down beside Adam, facing the city. We sat there in silence for some time.
Amanda's voice cut through the silence: "Ma'am, dinner is served; please come." I looked at her and started to make my way to the countertop, where the dinner was served. I noticed Adam still seated. As I reached, only a single plate was placed there. "Aren't you eating?" I questioned. "I don't eat what you are served. Only occasionally to be part of the crowd." I realized then that these were his perks as a vampire.
I took a seat and finished eating everything in fifteen minutes. Upon taking my first bite, I realized how hungry I was. I looked around, but I didn't see Adam. After I ate, Amanda cleared the table and cleaned everything in no time, leaving the place in silence. I considered retiring for the day rather than continuing to sit in the living room. I returned to my room. I then went to bed after checking a few emails.
I woke up in the middle of the night to the sensation of someone stroking my hair. I felt a strong embrace from someone. I was sweating, and my heart was racing. I opened my eyes to find a gloomy room. My breathing was audible to me. Adam was in my bed. "How are you doing?" He asked. Instead of replying I asked him angringly"What are you doing here?" . "You don't remember?" he shot back. I was staring at him to explain himself. "You were screaming in pain for the last half an hour; I ignored it first, but it kept on going. When I came to check on you. You were screaming while hitting your hands on the bed; I tried stopping you, but you pushed me across the room." He was right. The study table was broken in the corner. I looked at him apologectically. "I am sorry," I said. "No, Princess, don't be. I want to know what happened for you to be like this," Adam asked.
I did not answer him right away. We sat in my bed in comfort of each other. After calming down, I became aware of him. He is tightly hugging me, bare-chested. His body was covering me like a cozy blanket. My head is close to his heart, and to my amazement, it was beating. His eyes were sleep-deprived, his hair disheveled. "Please go; I'm fine now," I told him. He got out of my bed and approached the door in an instant. His sleepwear had an extremely low waist. His eight packs and the outline of his waist were visible to me. I realized something wet pooling between my legs. I tried putting sheets over me. From the door, he was looking at me as if I were bare, making me more conscious of the situation at hand.
He walked out, shutting my door behind him, saying, "I should go, and remember, I can sniff like a dog." It took me some time to figure out what he meant. I was blushing from embarrassment. I screamed vigorously while burying my face in my duvet. I doubt I will be able to catch any sleep tonight. How am I going to face him in the morning?
