Author's POV
As soon as Rose comprehended what was occurring, she swiftly pulled back. Adam remained motionless, recovering his breath following a fervent incident. The elevator opened just as he was going to inquire as to what had transpired between them. Kathy was waiting for them, standing there. She was furious at what she'd just witnessed. Rose walked past Kathy, who grabbed her arm to stop her.
Rose gently prodded Kathy with her arms, only infuriating her more than before, so Kathy pushed Rose more forcefully. Rose tossed her across the lobby in retaliation. Her eyes lighten up with a yellow hue on the rim complimenting her brown orbs, and her menancing aura became dominant. Adam stepped in and aided Kathy out. She got to her feet in a shaky stance, stunned by what had happened.
Her fervor increased as she charged at Rose once more, but Rose ducked under her. Unaware of her approach, Rose grabbed Kathy by the neck from behind, propelling her upward and forcefully putting her down on the ground. When Kathy's body hit the floor, there was a cracking noise. With a cunning smile, Rose remarked, "You think I am some weakling that you can push around?" as she looked down. "You are not a human or supernatural being; what are you?" Kathy asked her with a harsh expression on her face. "Someone whose above you all," Rose had responded. With a last glance at Adam, Rose stated, "This might take a while for you," and left without saying anything else.
Adam remained frozen as he considered the significance of what he had just witnessed. Even if Rose's soul powers remain untapped, she still possess greater power. When she reaches her full potential the amount of mightiness she could inherit could destroy the entire planet. Observing that the wounds on Kathy were mending naturally with her vampire characteristics, he assisted her in getting up. "Who is she?" Kathy asked nervously."She is the daughter of the Great King Louis of Devana",Adam replied.
"She's the missing daughter everyone's searching for—the one with the bounty." Kathy shot back. "She won't be useful if she unlocks her power because then she cannot be tamed," Adam said, nodding. Even though he wanted to dominate her and take advantage of her abilities, Adam couldn't get rid of the feeling he had in the elevator earlier. His thoughts kept returning to her caramel hair, brown eyes, and those delectable lips. Though the prophecy prevents him from having her, he knew he desired her more than ever now.
Because of his hybrid nature, he was more likely to die if they were to fall in love, which was why he was being cautious. He was a vampire and Devana's true royalty, whose abilities remain to be discovered just like her. Even though she was untainted and pure, she was still stronger than any individual on the planet and possessing unfathomable power.
Kathy left without discussing much. Adam, still in a trance, went inside the penthouse and drank the crimson liquid freshly stored in the freezer. He was on his third glass when he heard the soft padding of Rose's foot coming towards him. "You didn't have to show off like that; mere words could have warned Kathy, Adam stated, knowing she heard him clear as day. "She needed to know her place," Rose replied observing the red liquid in his hand, but refrained herself from commenting on it. Adam observed Rose's altered aura and mannerisms. She exuded a subdued air of dominance that made everyone around her submit. Compared to previously, she talked with more authority. "Do you want to talk about what happened?" Adam asked. "I already told you, what is there to talk about now?" she questioned. "I am indicating about the situation in the elevator." "Oh that, I just lost control back there; nothing to ponder about," Rose replied casually.
Adam stared at her for a while before saying, "You think that's normal?". "You know the consequences; then why put each other in a difficult position?" Rose questioned. "What if I want to?" Adam murmured, getting up from his chair and heading towards his room. "What?" Rose asked. "Nothing Princess, catch on to your beauty sleep as you have used a lot of your energy today, Adam said, closing the door to his bedroom.
Rose felt a hint of sarcasm in his tone. Feeling stranded in the living room, she smirked, looking at the painting of the girl covered in blood. Adam thinks he can use me, but once I find the encryption to unleash my powers, I will head for the heavens. He still doesn't know what I am capable of even without my inner soul powers. I can still destroy a lot of things, but I will be unstoppable once I have it. Crimson Moon is still a month away; I need to arrange accordingly, thought Rose to herself, retiring for the night.
It was around quarter past three when a black figure was standing near the headpost of Rose's bed. The entire room was filled with its dark smoke, shrouding everything in its darkness. Rose woke from her deep slumber feeling choked and breathing abnormally fast. She noticed the black figure wearing a tattered cloak covering its face moving closer to her. As a reflex, she extended the forearm bearing the soul pendant; a white light came through it, causing the thing to scream in agony and approach in the direction of the window.
Adam entered Rose's room as soon as he woke up hearing the scream. Sitting on the bed, he noticed her panting. When he went to check on her, he saw the window open and observed the last bit of black smoke disappearing. He asked, staring at Rose anxiously, "What happened here?" although he knew who the guest was somehow. "Nothing, just a bad dream." Rose replied, catching her breath. "It must be your worst nightmare then to scream like the underworld creature," Adam retored.
Rose was taken aback by his answer and replied, "So you know about them; I didn't mention it because I was not sure you were aware of them." Adam looked at her suspiciously and asked, "What your deal with them?". Rose got out of bed and headed for the bathroom, saying, "Nothing that concerns you; I think you should leave."
Adam became agitated with the way she dismissed him. Instead of going back, he blocked her way and cornered her near the study table. She tried dodging him but to no avail. Adam was adamant to get his answers. "You know more than I thought," he said.
"You're not the only one who lived centuries;now let me go," she answered mockingly. Adam moved closer to her, whispering near her ears, "And what happened earlier means nothing to you?".Rose became more aware of his presence in her breathing space. This can't continue like this; eventually the walls will come crashing down leaving them both vulnerable, and she'll deviate off her path, which she couldn't bear.
But still, she couldn't push him away. It was like an invisible string is binding both of them together despite knowing their downfall is inevitable if their self-control gives away. Rose collected herself, shoving him away. The moment she took two steps, Adam engulfed her from behind and bit her delectable ears. This made Rose hot instantly, making her burst into flames down there.
She couldn't control it and moaned loudly, realizing it was her. Embarassed, she turned red, flushing and the heat rushing to her cheeks. Adam lost control after hearing her moan; he bit into her slender neck and sucked to ease the pain, but that action only made her want to go farther.Their moans filled the room as he kissed her smooth shoulder and slurped on her neck. Adam began tracing a line from Rose's abdomen to her inner thigh. She stopped his hand from going any further by grasping onto it.
She was engulfed more securely than before by Adam's other hand, though. He met her cheeks with another kiss, rubbing his jaw against her exposed shoulder. To break free from this, Rose had to give it everything she had. After giving Adam a little push, she entered the restroom and shut the door. Leaning against the door and lowering herself to the floor, Rose was panting and making an effort to calm herself. Upon hearing nothing from Rose after two knocks on the door, Adam left to give her the space she needed while taking a cold shower to calm himself.
He didn't anticipated what had occurred. He lost control this time. What he is playing is far more dangerous than one can comprehend. Rose got up from the floor after a while. She peeked outside her restroom door, hoping to see Adam; but he had already left. She came out, locked her bedroom door, and lied down on her bed. The scene kept replaying in her head of what had happened a while ago, she felt the wetness pooling between her thighs.
