Chapter 1 - My alibi: Backstory

Chapter 1: Sylus

The sounds of cars speeding on the street. The sounds of people yelling. And the sound of a crash. Who would have thought that an ordinary day would turn out to be the end the of my life.

I lay in the backseat of the broken car, my eyes barely open at the sight of my mother gasping for oxygen.

"Mum…"

I whisper breathlessly as my eyes shut and blood drains from my arms to the floor.

Why is no one helping…?

Why are they just standing there?!

The windows are all shattered and all I can hear is the noise of an ambulance, heavy rain… and the crowded road, filled with blood and drained emotions. The wind beating against the dark scenery, the street lights flashing, creating some light in this cold night, and the people taking videos. Is this what they find so satisfying?

I let out a shakey chuckle as tears stream my face, as I wear a hopeless expression.

I grab the hand of the only person I had left in my toxic family.

My father is a gambler and died from his obsession of alchohol. My sister hung herself in the the living room with the messages 'I can't take this anymore'.

Is this how my life is fated to turn out? I'm so useless. And with that I lose the grip of my mothers hand.

Am I hallucinating?

The tall figure standing outside of the shattered car window suddenly holds me close.

"Who are you…?"

I let out a slow whisper.

"This is not the end for you my love.." The tall man reassures me.

And with those words the figure suddenly disappears and I can breathe again..
