Mina paused a little to build up the children's curiosity. Then she continued, "They have always been a part of you since birth. It's just that they remain dormant until you turn twelve and awaken alongside your Grimoires. That is why they start influencing you even before you awaken. The origin of the Grimoire is something that is far away even for me, so we will not talk about that. Hopefully, some of you will be able to reach that point.
"Coming back to Innate Talents and the Call. As I told you, Innate Talents are a part of us since birth just like a body part, but what decides our specific Innate Talents? The answer to that is bloodline and chance. I do not know how the first Beast Tamers awakened their Innate Talents, but with the contributions of multiple Spirit Guides and years of research, we discovered that the answer lay in bloodline.
"Innate Talents, like genes, are passed down from previous generations to the next. There are exceptions where people awaken Innate Talents completely unrelated to anyone in their families. This is especially true for Grimoire Talents. As far as we know, their awakening is completely random. The number of bloodlines that pass down Grimoire Talents is abysmally low."
She stopped for a moment and said, "I feel like I'm getting sidetracked here. This course is about the Call, so I'll focus on that. But if any of you are interested in the topic of Innate and Grimoire Talents, sign a petition and submit it to the Dean. If there are enough interested students, I will begin an elective course dedicated to that.
"Now, where was I? Right, the Call. What exactly is the Call and why was it termed as such? I told you that it refers to the influence that Innate Talents have on your body and psyche before you awaken. But how exactly does it work? Well, it works exactly as it is termed. You will feel something 'calling' out to you. If you have a physical talent, you might find a sudden interest in physical activities. Someone I know awakened an Innate Talent named Nature Whisperer.
"After celebrating their tenth birthday, they felt nature itself call out to them, or as Spirit Guides say, they felt the Call of Nature. Eventually, they began staying with their grandparents who lived in the mountains due to the intense desire they had for nature. And this is a very common example. There are cases where the Call is much more intense."
Mina paused and drank some water. She observed the kids and noticed that some of them had slightly scared expressions. She thought, 'I am an idiot. I forgot that even though they are more mature and act like adults, they are still kids in the end. I'll have to fix this.'
She said, "But don't be afraid. The Call stops after you awaken. Although you'll still feel more comfortable and relaxed when in surroundings related to the Call that you experience. And it isn't necessary to change your surroundings according to the Call that you feel. After all, what if someone felt the Call of Volcano?
"You don't expect them to live in a live or even dead volcano, do you? You can simulate that environment with the help of items and array formations. It is the reason that you all got your own personal rooms. Items and array formations of all sorts are available for very cheap at the Bloom Store. Trust me, each and every one of you can easily buy something according to your needs. And please, consult your elders and teachers before buying something. I know that you think that you are smart and considering that you're still at this Academy, you probably are. But, they have already experienced this before and can provide valuable advice."
Mina was about to say something, but the bell rang. She checked her watch and said, "It looks like our time is up for today. I will see you guys in the next class. I've already sent the books that you need for this course to your Bloom Watches so do check that out and please don't buy stuff on your own. Have a great day."
Lucas stood up, and the rest of the students followed him. They said, "Thank you, Ma'am."
Then everyone started leaving. Derek and Vivienne were about to leave as well but saw that Lucas had sat down instead.
He said, "You guys leave. I'll catch up with you later."
Derek replied, "Alright, bro. See you later."
Lucas nodded. When everyone had left, Lucas approached Mina.
She said, "Can I help you, Mr...?"
Lucas said, "Lucas."
Mina said, "Ah, the Student Council President. So, what brings you to me?"
Lucas hesitated a little and said, "The Call. My Call to be precise."
Mina nodded and asked, "But why are you coming to me about this? Wouldn't your parents be a better choice?"
Lucas said, "You are an expert. And I will talk to my mother. Later. You are here and I have some doubts."
Mina replied, "Fair enough. Why don't you take a seat and answer some of my questions?"
Lucas thanked her and sat down.
She asked, "First of all, what are your parents' Innate Talents?"
He replied, "My mother's Innate Talent is Coalescence. I've never met my father and Mom doesn't talk about him. If it helps, my grandmother has the same talent as my Mom."
Mina muttered, "Hmmm, Coalescence, where have I heard that before?"
She asked in a normal volume, "What is your surname?"
Lucas answered, "Zenith. My name is Lucas Alexander Zenith."
Mina closed her eyes as if she was trying to remember something and then suddenly snapped them open, as she said, "Now I remember. Do you happen to be related to Sienna Zenith?"
Lucas asked, "You know my mother?"
Mina chuckled and replied, "Not personally, no, but I have heard of her. I just forgot because it has been so long. To think that you are Sienna Zenith's son."
Lucas asked, "Is my mother famous?"
