Chapter 47 - 309

The reason why he attended this party was because of the fact that some Academy members would also attend the party. This was the time to give a better impression so that they would vote for him. So far, he already met 8 Academy members. This was a tiring night for him since he was not an outgoing type.

Furthermore, Angelina was busy tonight because a magazine hired her to model.

Tom Cruise was also not present, the actor was at a different party tonight. Even though CAA gave the two their support, it was still better if they did their roles.

If there was one thing Kazir was uncomfortable with, it was the fact that some old guy almost touched his butt. Kazir dodged the act and stepped back before the old man could squeeze his ass...

There were lots of gays and lesbians in this industry, but Kazir didn't expect this kind of sexual harassment almost happen to him.

'Brendan Fraser, your life was never easy. I understand why you suffered from long-term depression. These people don't respect you at all.'

For the record, Brendan Fraser was a victim of sexual assault. Indeed, there were a lot of unreasonable and insufferable people in this industry. They thought they were the king of the world just because they had a high position in the industry, they thought they could bully people.

If something like that happened to Kazir, he knew what to do, he would break the old man's jaw with no hesitation.

'Although that might affect my chances of getting a nomination. However, I'll never let myself be bullied like that. Fuck the Oscars then.'

The old man realized his mistake and left the place after that. Kazir decided to let it go since nothing happened anyway.

"Um, good evening, director."

Kazir turned around and found a young woman staring at him. The woman was blushing, perhaps because she was holding a glass of alcohol.

From the looks of it, the woman was already 21 because that was the legal drinking age in California.b

The woman in question was none other than Natalie Portman, the Padme Amidala of Star Wars.

"Hello, we met last time, right?"

Kazir remembered that they met when he visited Industrial Light & Magic.

"I'm Natalie Portman, it's nice to meet you." The actress gave the sweetest smile she could do and she seemed very sweet and cute. The young actress extended her hand for a handshake, quite shaking.

"Nice to meet you too."

Kazir grabbed her hand for a handshake.

"I'm a fan and I watched all of your movies, even your horror movies such as The Haunted Potatoes and Zombie Pajama Dance Party--"

"Alright, alright, you don't have to list them all."

He immediately stopped the woman because he was never proud of his horror movies... They were something he didn't want to remember.

Hearing their titles, Kazir wanted to drown himself in embarrassment. In fact, he also wanted to forget a certain horror movie that Sony-Colombia was still eager to acquire from him. Kazir wrote the script back in 1994 when he thought of his first movie after he time-traveled. He listed a lot of horror movies but he decided to go with Napoleon Dynamite instead.

Yes, Kazir was talking about Final Destination. In this timeline, Final Destination was never filmed. Kazir took advantage of his knowledge and wrote a lot of scripts to horde, so Final Destination never met the light of theaters.

Lately, Sony-Colombia and New Line Cinema have been trying to contact him regarding the script... Kazir just didn't want to do so, because his feelings regarding horror movies were complicated.

It was the genre he pursued but failed to succeed. He was fine selling scripts but horror movies were a different story.

Funny, because he didn't know why he had this emotion.

'Can this be called trauma?' He asked himself.

New Line Cinema bought Se7en from him and they were interested in Final Destination because it was a movie that had a strong chance of being a franchise with at least a trilogy.

Actually, New Line Cinema regrets that they ended Se7en with just one movie. Perhaps if they consulted with Kazir, the director might cook something interesting.

"Uh? Ah yes, I understand director." Natalie Portman was confused as to why Kazir was ashamed of his filmography but she decided to let go.

"Um... Umm..." Natalie actually didn't have anything in mind to talk to Kazir.

She was a bit drunk and her body just decided to greet Kazir after seeing him. The best greeting she could plan was to start the conversation by saying that she was a fan and listing all of his films to show that she was a real fan.

Yet her plan failed and now her brain was trying to process the best move after this.

"I'm a fan..." That was the best she could say and her face turned red.

"Thank you, Natalie. I also like your performance in Star Wars and Leon: The Professional."

Leon: The Professional was Natalie Portman's debut movie and since then she has received steady jobs in the industry.

Natalie was of Jewish lineage, probably one of the reasons why she had a steady career.

"I- I, this is my card. Please call me, I mean, please call me if you have a suitable role for me. Director, I want to work with you." She stuttered, she knew that she was not doing fine in this conversation.

"Okay, Natalie." Kazir accepted her card. He didn't mind Natalie's remarks because he thought it was because of alcohol.

"I think you should stop drinking alcohol and contact your agent or parents instead."

From the looks of it, Natalie was still not used to drinking alcohol.

"Yeah... Yes!" Natalie embarrassingly left, scampering like a cute little hamster.

Kazir put the card in his pocket, he was not sure if he would contact Natalie since he currently has no role for a young actress like her. His next project was Pirates of the Caribbean and Grey Pictures already contacted the actors who have major roles in this franchise.

Yes, Kazir was confident that this movie would be a franchise.
