Chapter 49 - 311

Business with something huge as acquiring a billion-worth company was something to be taken seriously.

Kazir knew how important this venture was. He was tired of finding a distributor every few years. He wanted a stable partner that would distribute his movies worldwide.

Honestly, sometimes, Kazir thought of buying distribution channels instead so that his problem would be gone. But he also knew that it was nothing but a dream. In the first place, acquiring and nurturing distribution channels took a lot of money.

Not even Grey Pictures nor Kazir Grey had the financial means to do that. Unless they get a loan from the bank, but that would be detrimental to their upcoming plans. Remember, Grey Pictures wanted to make two successful Cinematic Universes. The first was the CCU and the second was the MCU.

The MCU was just a second thought, actually. But it seemed that Kazir was now interested in making it happen.

The competition to get Grey Pictures intensified now that 20th Century Fox joined the battle.

Just that fact alone made the net worth of Grey Pictures up to $8 billion. Why? Because 20th Century Fox gave them a higher offer than the others could provide.

So far, Sony-Colombia was prepared to exchange 2.3% shares for 30% of Grey Pictures shares.

But 20th Century Fox was different, they would pay $300 million to buy 3.75% shares of Grey Pictures. Not only that, 20th Century Fox would exchange 3.38% shares for another 30% shares of Grey Pictures.

The net worth of 20th Century Fox was $71 billion. Meaning, that 3.38% of shares amounted to $2.40 billion.

If this venture happened, then 20th Century Fox would have 33.75% shares of Grey Pictures.

If this was a normal acquisition, 20th Century Fox wanted to buy the company completely but they knew that it would be detrimental to their plan since the real value of Grey Pictures was Kazir Grey. So they stopped at that amount.

"So I'll get $300 million and 3.38% shares?" Kazir asked curiosity. That was not bad. Especially when 20th Century Fox promised that Kazir would receive $300 million cash in one payment...

He actually didn't know what with that amount of money. He might invest it in stocks, perhaps... Or maybe buy a mansion or island in the Pacific region.

"That's right." Vance Goodhood nodded. He was Kazir's financial advisor long before the dot com bubble burst happened. Vance was now working for Goldman Sachs and Kazir was still his client.

For this job, Vance and his small team of elites would receive a 4% commission once he closed the deal.

Kazir was now one of the major shareholders of 20th Century Fox. If this acquisition happened, he had the power to be part of the board of directors and make a decision for himself and 20th Century Fox.

The biggest shareholder was still Rupert Murdoch, and the guy just acquired Marvel Comics last week.

"Vance, I think we know where this is going," Kazir smirked.

"I understand." Vance immediately understood his intentions.

20th Century Fox lit up the dynamite, and this explosive would affect the other big studios. Even if one of them was interested, that would be great for Grey Pictures.

"Secretly spread this information, that 20th Century Fox is ready to buy 30% shares of Grey Pictures in exchange for $300 million and 3.38% shares. I know Goldman Sachs had their ways to make it like this info didn't come from us."

It was actually 33% shares but that small gap didn't matter, right?

"I understand."

The two shook hands. This was an important business that Vance didn't want to miss.

Just three days after 20th Century Fox extended their will to partner with Grey Pictures, some rumors started circulating in Hollywood that 20th Century Fox was prepared to buy 30% shares for $350 million and 3.50% shares.

From the looks of it, Goldman Sachs increased the amount for their own agenda... Bigger numbers mean a bigger commission.

Kazir just chuckled when he heard the news and decided to return to his bed. Angelina who was in bed giggled when she saw how active Kazir is lately. The guy satisfied her in and out of the bedroom.

Just as everyone expected, one of the big studios also laid their offer. It was none other than the desperate Walt Disney. This company lost a huge amount of money this week, yet it seemed that they were ready to bleed more just to acquire Grey Pictures.

Chairman Eisner personally called Kazir. The old man offered him a seat on the board of directors, he would also receive $375 million and 2.4% shares of Walt Disney. Note that the net worth of Walt Disney was $105 billion.

That 2.4% shares was equal to $2.52 billion.

If Kazir's calculation was right, then Walt Disney's offer was higher.

20th Century Fox only offered $300 million plus 3.38% shares($2.40 billion.)

As for What Disney, it was ready to give Kazir $375 million plus 2.4% shares($2.52 billion.)

Now, 20th Century Fox could back out from the competition because something was happening and their offer was leaked. But it seemed that 20th Century Fox was also serious about Grey Pictures.

Instead of stopping, they continued contacting Grey Pictures and Goldman Sachs regarding the topic.

While this was happening, November slowly passed by. 8 Mile starring Eminem was released on November 8 and it has a good.  performance.

8 Mile's first weekend grossed $51.24 million. At that time, The Revenant already grossed $95.70 million. The Revenant was close to reaching $100 million.

However, a lot of people knew that the box office of The Revenant would be affected in the third week. Why? Because Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will be released on November 15.

This movie was one of the most anticipated movies this year. Surely the sequel would make a lot of money at the box office.
