Mavislin then stood up and took a deep breath, pushing herself away from the desk filled with scattered papers. She then paused, staring right at the Viceroy as she was submerged in her jumbled thoughts.
"Is something the matter?" asked Zenos, raising an eyebrow.
"Maybe you were right. Maybe I do need fresh eyes. Stand back from me," said the dragoness as she glanced back at the desk.
The Viceroy opened his mouth to say something but stopped, momentarily entranced by Mavislin's unusual actions. She gently untangled her hair, allowing her rich, wine-colored locks to fall freely.
To his astonishment, Zenos watched as her hair continued to grow, flowing longer and longer until it brushed the floor with a delicate shimmer. The sight was both mesmerizing and perplexing, leaving him momentarily speechless as he observed the ethereal transformation.
"Come on out," murmured Mavislin as her hair was consumed with an eerie purple and black glow.
As the ethereal glow diminished, Mavislin's hair transformed into a writhing mass of snakes, their serpentine forms flickering with unsettling life. Zenos, momentarily taken aback, considered drawing his blade to deal with the serpentine menace.
However, he hesitated, his gaze shifting to the dragoness. Slowly, she opened her eyes, and the Viceroy's grip on his weapon faltered, his focus now entirely on the awakening dragoness.
She reminded him of an old foe… But he wasn't quite sure. Or was that his Guardian's memories?
"Don't be scared; they aren't here to hurt you. These babies are here to help me digest information quickly. Watch," instructed Mavislin as she shook her head, signaling the snakes to do her bidding.
The serpentine locks of Mavislin's hair extended and coiled, reaching out toward the desk with an almost preternatural grace. They paused momentarily as if awaiting a command. With a snap of her fingers, Mavislin issued her instructions.
"Arrange these according to their dates and categorize them by the specific appearances of the hostiles stated."
The snakes responded with precise coordination, each slithering to retrieve and position a paper according to her directives. They moved with an uncanny efficiency, meticulously sorting the documents.
Zenos watched in rapt fascination as the serpentine creatures, seemingly animated by her will, encircled her with a serpentine dance of order and obedience.
"It seems that we've got quite a bit of enemies to face… Shall we start with the more pressing ones? Or the interesting ones first…" questioned Mavislin, turning to Zenos to give a sly smile.
"I think you know my guess is as good as yours."
The dragoness' snakes hissed in agreement as they took out the redundant papers and stacked them nicely on the desk, leaving only the incident reports of the Twilight Twins; Solaris, and Lunaris.
These two were not biological siblings; they were more like two sides of the same coin.
Where there is light in the world, there will definitely be darkness. Solaris, the embodiment of all that which is just and bright—from hopes and dreams to the very essence of life itself—governs the world with a radiance that guides and inspires.
Her presence infuses the day with warmth and vigor, bringing clarity and purpose to those who seek it.
For Lunaris, she was the representative of the darkness, all that which exists in the shadowed recesses of existence. Unlike the destructive void some might imagine, Lunaris embodies the depth and mystery that balance the brilliance of her counterpart.
She governs the night, where dreams are woven and secrets are kept, nurturing the hidden truths and untapped potentials that lie beneath the surface.
While Solaris illuminates the path, Lunaris offers insight through the obscured trails, guiding those who venture into the unseen realms of their own consciousness.
She is the keeper of the moon's gentle glow, casting light in ways that reveal the subtler aspects of reality. In her presence, the darkness is not to be feared but understood, as it holds the power to reveal truths that are not apparent in the glaring light of day.
The interplay between Solaris and Lunaris creates a harmonious balance within the world, where the cycles of day and night, light and shadow, are intertwined.
Their realms complement each other, creating a full spectrum of existence where both the visible and the hidden are respected and valued.
Together, they shape the duality of life, ensuring that neither the light nor the darkness overshadows the other, instead, they coexist in a delicate and profound equilibrium.
"Those stories might make the Twilight Twins sound like some kind of deities—and yeah, they kind of are—but that's not who we're dealing with here."
"Believe me, the real Twilight Twins would put the fear of god into me until I would want to meet it. With a bonus feature of that those twin deities are noted to be benevolent gods, not the raging ones we are facing."
