Chapter 6 - 6. Get shocked

After a long night filled with passion and intensity, Sophia awoke the next morning feeling utterly drained. Her body ached in unfamiliar places, and she was enveloped in the soft, luxurious sheets of the massive bed. The events of the previous night played through her mind, and a slight blush crept across her cheeks as she recalled the intensity of their first night together. But as she stirred, trying to gather her thoughts, the door to the bedroom creaked open.

A well-dressed butler entered, followed by a maid carrying a tray laden with a light breakfast. The butler approached the bed with a polite bow. "Good morning, Mrs. Sterling," he greeted, his voice calm and composed. "I trust you slept well? Mr. Sterling asked us to ensure that all your needs are met this morning."

Sophia blinked, trying to process the sudden presence of staff in her bedroom. "I... yes, thank you," she replied, her voice still laced with sleep. She pushed herself up into a sitting position, adjusting the sheets around her. The butler nodded, and the maid quickly set the tray on the bedside table, offering Sophia a warm smile before stepping back.

As she nibbled on the fresh fruit and pastries, Sophia couldn't help but feel a mix of awe and slight discomfort at the opulence around her. She had known Alex was wealthy—anyone who could pull off such a grand, last-minute wedding had to be—but this level of luxury was beyond anything she had ever imagined.

Once she had finished her breakfast, the maid returned to take away the tray, while another appeared, carrying an outfit carefully selected for the day. "Mr. Sterling suggested this for you today, ma'am," the maid said, holding up a stunning dress made from the finest materials. It was simple yet elegant, clearly designed with Sophia's style in mind.

"Thank you," Sophia murmured, taking the dress and standing up. She moved towards the en-suite bathroom, feeling the cool marble under her feet. After freshening up, she slipped into the dress, the fabric gliding effortlessly over her skin. It fit her perfectly, accentuating her figure without being too revealing.

When she stepped out of the bathroom, the butler was waiting for her. "Mrs. Sterling, would you like to take a tour of the house? Mr. Sterling wanted to ensure you are familiar with your new home."

Sophia nodded, curious to see more of the mansion. The butler led her through the house, and with every step, Sophia's awe only grew. The grandeur of the place was almost overwhelming—the sweeping staircases, the vast hallways lined with artwork, and the exquisite furnishings that spoke of timeless luxury.

But it wasn't until they reached the walk-in closet that Sophia truly understood the extent of Alex's wealth. The closet was larger than her entire apartment had been—a room dedicated solely to clothes, shoes, and accessories. The walls were lined with rows of designer dresses, each more stunning than the last. Shelves upon shelves of handbags, jewelry, and other accessories filled the space, all perfectly organized. And then there was the shoe room—an entire room just for shoes. Hundreds of pairs, each one more luxurious than the last, neatly displayed on custom-made racks.

Sophia stepped into the shoe room, her eyes wide with disbelief. "This is... incredible," she whispered, running her fingers along the rows of shoes. She had never seen anything like it. Even the wealthiest people she knew didn't have anything that came close to this.

The butler, standing by the door, gave a small, knowing smile. "Mr. Sterling has a penchant for the finest things in life," he remarked. "And now, of course, they are yours as well, Mrs. Sterling."

Sophia turned to look at him, still in shock. "This... all of this... it's too much," she said softly. "I don't even know what to do with it all."

The butler nodded understandingly. "Take your time, ma'am. Mr. Sterling only wishes for you to feel comfortable and at home here. Everything you see is meant for your enjoyment."

Sophia looked around the room again, trying to take it all in. The sheer extravagance of it was almost overwhelming. It was as if luxury was a common commodity in this house, something as ordinary as air or water. She thought of all the struggles she had faced in her life, all the times she had dreamed of a better life, and now here she was, standing in a room full of riches beyond her wildest dreams.

As she turned to leave the closet, the butler led her back to the bedroom, where she found Alex waiting for her. He was dressed impeccably, as always, his presence commanding and yet somehow comforting. He smiled as she approached, his eyes filled with a warmth that made her heart flutter.

"Good morning," he greeted, stepping forward to take her hand. "How are you feeling?"

"Overwhelmed," Sophia admitted with a soft laugh. "This house, everything in it... it's incredible, Alex. I've never seen anything like it."

Alex chuckled, pulling her closer. "I'm glad you like it. I wanted you to have everything you could ever want or need."

Sophia looked up at him, her expression softening. "It's more than I could have ever imagined," she said quietly. "But, Alex... I want to know more about you. About us."

Alex's expression grew more serious as he cupped her face in his hands. "You will, Sophia," he promised. "I want to share everything with you. But first, I want you to feel at home here. This is your home now, and I want you to be happy."

Sophia nodded, leaning into his touch. "Thank you," she whispered, feeling a surge of gratitude and something else—something deeper and more profound.

As they stood there, wrapped in each other's embrace, Sophia realized that her life had changed in ways she could never have anticipated. She had entered a world of unimaginable luxury, but more importantly, she had entered a new chapter of her life with a man who, despite the whirlwind of their relationship, made her feel truly cherished.
