Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 16

All the workers moved their luggage from the cottage to the White Change Room.

The White Change Room stood as a pinnacle of luxury, featuring numerous spacious rooms where workers would reside and ready themselves for the PBP.

Maryann had been discharged from the Presidential sickbay to the cottage, where she helped her friends with packing their luggage since she didn't have any.

Mrs. Caroline, hired to take over from Miss Hallington after her dismissal, supervised the workers during the packing process.

The White Change Room was very rowdy, because all the workers were trying to find corners and beds that would be suitable for themselves and their cartel.

Maryann, Sarah, Lisa and James found a nice corner with four comfy beds where they kept their luggage.

The White Change Room was situated inside the White House, it consisted of a very long corridor, and the corridor consisted of a hundred white doors, fifty on each side of the corridor.

Each white door, which had a number on it, consisted of eight different white beds, four on each corner of the room, one all white bathroom, with eight white towels, two white bathtubs and one white shower.

Each room also consisted of a white coffee machine, and four white sofas.

At the end of the White Change Room Corridor, were two very large white doors.

The first large door is the main change room, where the workers would get their hair, makeup, and clothes done to prepare them for the event.

The second large door is the diner, where the workers would be eating their breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"All workers to the hall now! All workers to the hall now!" A voice emitted from the speakers that hung on the ceiling in the corridor.

All the workers hurried along the passage to the hall that was behind the White Change Room.

The workers stood in front of the stage, while Caroline stood on the stage.

"Good day workers! I believe you have all found corners for your stay?" Caroline asked.

"Yes, Misses Caroline!!" the workers answered in unison.

"Now, I won't waste your time, let me get straight to the point...." Caroline began; "Each of the rooms should only be occupied by eight workers, then at the end of the corridor are two doors, the one on the right leads to the diner, where you will be having breakfast, lunch and dinner, the door on the left is the change room, where you all will be taken care of and dressed for the event, is that understood?"

"Yes, Misses Caroline!" the workers chorused.

"The meeting is over" Caroline said as she came down from the stage.

She was average in height, a blonde, chubby and was in her late fifties.

The workers dispersed and got back to their rooms, as they tried to arrange their beds and get things in order.

One hour later, the two bells in the corridor rang, signaling the workers that it was time for dinner.

The workers were all refreshed and chatted with their friends as they made their way into the diner.

The Diner was large and spacious with different tables and seats.

Each table contained four seats, while in the corner was a large counter and buffet where the chefs and servers stood behind to serve food to the workers.

The menu for dinner was fried rice with shrimps and orange fruit juice.

The workers stood in a line to get their food and go to a table to eat.

Maryann and her group got their meal and took a table.

As they sat, they noticed the drama that was happening in front of the counter.

Cyril went to his office and sat behind his desk.

He was so exhausted from the day's appointment.

He kept his elbow on the handle of his seat while his index finger was fixed under his chin as he stared into space.

The office was surrounded by bodyguards and armed police officers.

Bobby walked into the office and bowed to Cyril.

Cyril nodded before Bobby spoke:

"Your Excellency, the workers have been transferred from the cottage to the White Change Room", Bobby reported to Cyril as he held the iPad to his side.

Cyril nodded again.

"The workers are about to have dinner, Your Excellency", Bobby said again.

"Have you conveyed the information about the food to the kitchen?" asked Cyril, his gaze still fixed on the void.

"Yes, Your Excellency, would you like to take a look?" Bobby asked.

Cyril nodded.

Bobby picked up a remote and put the large TV projector on and everything and every sound and everyone in the Diner could be seen and heard.

Maryann paused in her eating as she looked at the scene that caused whispers close to the counter.

"Please Sir, I don't eat shrimps, please could you take them off my rice?" Melissa stood in front of the line, in front of the counter as she begged and handed her plate of rice and shrimps to one of the servers who was dishing food to the workers.

"Don't you think you are being ungrateful?" One of the workers named Kira, who was three people behind Melissa, chipped in.

But Melissa kept mute.

The server collected Melissa's plate of food and began to select the shrimps.

Kira chipped in again.

"After all you did, the President took you into the White House, clothed and fed you, and you have the guts to select his meals and choose what to eat?" Melissa kept mute.

"You are such an ingrate," Kira said loudly, but Melissa didn't answer her.

After the server had finished selecting the shrimps from Melissa's rice,

Melissa collected her plate of food and went to sit with her friends who had gotten a table and waited for her to come and join them to complete them as four.

Melissa's table was beside Maryann's table.

After Kira got her tray of food, she walked straight to Melissa's table and banged her tray of food on the table, startling the workers in the diner as everyone turned to look at the scene.

"Hey, make up girl, did you just fucking ignore me by the counter?" Kira asked Melissa as she folded her arms and stood closer to Melissa's table.

"Mel doesn't eat shrimps, if that's the explanation you wanted to hear" one of Melissa's friends who sat at Melissa's table said to Kira.

"I'm not asking you, dumbass" Kira said to the girl.

"You have to eat the shrimps" Kira said as she picked up one shrimp from her food and put it on top of the spoon of rice that Melissa was about to take to her mouth.

Melissa gulped down her saliva as she stared at the spoon of rice and shrimp she held close to her mouth.

"Eat it now!" Kira ordered Melissa.

But Melissa hesitated.

"She said, she doesn't eat shrimps, why are you forcing her?" James said loudly to Kira from his table.

"Mind your fucking business!" Kira said as two other female workers who were also in line got their food and stood behind Kira as she bullied Melissa.

"Please, James, let's not get involved, I don't want trouble," Sarah whispered to James, and James kept mute and faced his food.

"Dumbass" Kira muttered to James as she faced Melissa and shouted; "Now eat it!"

The hand Melissa used to hold the spoon began to shake while Kira continued shouting,

"I said eat up! Eat up now! Cause if you don't, you will be disrespecting the President," Kira shouted as she used her leg to hit the leg of Melissa's chair.

Whispers filled the hall, as some of the workers who were far from the table, stood on their feet, trying to see what was going on.

Tears streamed down Melissa's cheeks as she trembled, holding a spoonful of rice and shrimp close to her mouth.

The diner fell silent the moment a voice spoke:

"You fucking heard her right, she said she doesn't eat shrimps. Are you naturally deaf, or do you just choose to be intentionally deaf?" The voice said calmly.
