The guards were terrified after seeing the insignia, and they seemed to want to melt into the floor. It was clear that my recommendations carried significant weight.
"Please forgive our rudeness," one of the guards pleaded. "It's common for adventurers to try and reach the third floor without authorization, and to maintain order, we have to be strict."
"It's alright," I said reassuringly. "As I told the other guards downstairs, I don't blame you. You're just doing your job." I gave the guard a reassuring pat on the arm.
This seemed to calm them both. In fact, the guards used the situation to try and befriend me, ensuring a future ally. They treated me exceptionally well and even offered assistance with various guild matters.
"I'll remember you when I need help. Thank you very much," I said sincerely.
