Sophia told her assistant and staff to leave first. After finishing the re-made cake and tidying up the shop, she glanced at the clock and realized it was already late.
Capone, at some point, had parked his car by the entrance. He held a bag of packed dishes and soup dumplings, rolled down the window, and said, "Get in. We can still have a late-night snack when we get home."
The events of the morning had left everyone shaken. Sophia didn't refuse; she obediently got into his car to head home.
"Where's Laura?"
"She went home with your sister and the others. She's been chattering non-stop to Jimmy about everything she saw and heard at kindergarten today—hasn't quieted down all evening," Capone said with a smile of contentment tugging at his lips.
"Hmm, seems like she's adjusting well." Thinking of her daughter filled Sophia with warmth. "What about my sister and Jimmy? Are they alright?"
