Chapter 24 - The quote of the night

Teyat's soul was much stronger than the soul that inhabited the body before. As a result, it took control of the body, seizing its command. The soul, body, and mind were completely freed from the control of the one known as the "Lord of Roses." Without revealing his newfound freedom, he stopped asking questions after gathering the basic information to understand what had happened and to learn more.

Under the starry night, the moon's magnificent light continued to shine on the faces of the two bandits returning to camp. The roses gleamed in the moonlight, falling to the ground from the trees with the breeze.

After a quiet return, the two bandits finally reached the camp.

At that moment, when Teyat and Aaron arrived, the three bandits sitting around the fire were nowhere to be seen.

However, only three of the five tents had lights on. The fire had already turned into cold ash.

Seeing the lights in the tents, Aaron broke the silence.

"They've probably gone to sleep already. After all, tomorrow is the day to offer a soul to the Unknown. As much as I don't want to, I have to get to bed early for tomorrow. You should do the same. Also, let me remind you, prepare yourself mentally for what you'll see."

Teyat, eager for what was to come the next day, nodded with an internal smile, as if to say, "Okay."

"Of course, I understand now. The memories I've lost are slowly returning to my mind. I'm more ready for tomorrow than ever, I feel good and excited."

He spoke these words with a confidence he had rarely felt in his life.

But Aaron's reaction to this confident expression was one of disgust and discomfort.

"So, you're excited to kill innocent people. Wonderful."

As Aaron was about to step into his tent, he suddenly stopped. He glanced sideways and continued, "When you deceive others, choose your words carefully. Because once you deceive yourself, know that there's no going back."

Teyat felt a sudden panic at the thought that the lies he had told so far might be exposed.

This sudden panic manifested itself as only a few drops of sweat.

Unexpectedly, Aaron turned around and gave Teyat a reassuring and sincere smile.

"Let this be the quote of the night. By the way, I'm going to take a nap and then take the night watch. If you can't sleep, you're welcome to spend the night with me. Good night."

Aaron turned and headed toward his tent. As his smile faded, his expression returned to one of disgust and indifference, and he entered the tent to prepare for sleep.

As soon as he entered, a light turned on from inside, illuminating the tent.

Seeing this, Teyat's confidence-filled spirit suddenly turned to panic. Filled with anxiety, Teyat quickly headed for a tent that had no light.

Inside the dark tent, he saw a blanket on the floor, a pillow, and a gas lamp hanging on a hook.

Too panicked to care about these details, Teyat threw himself onto the bed. As he lay there, deep thoughts swirled in his mind.

'Damn it, damn it! Who could find killing innocent people exciting, of all things? Tsk! This is the first time I hate lying! I need to get out of here quickly, I don't want to die without continuing this cursed legacy, I need to escape, but how? Ah, damn luck!'
