Chapter 26 - Human flash grenade

Melinda May shrugged. "It's not me saying that, it's your conclusions."

Coulson grinned. "What's the school he mentioned? Kama something..."

"Kame School."

"Yeah, that's a strange name." Phil sighed. "Alright, let's go talk to him. Get a special unit...no, get two, with one as backup."

"OK!"

"And May, try to look like you're not enjoying this."

"Ha ha."

"..."

Half an hour later, after closing time at Lee's Chinese Restaurant...

"Lorna, please stop. The answer is the same. Colleen hasn't returned. I can't sense her Ki at the Dojo."

Lorna looked at Rex suspiciously. "Boss, are you really using Ki Sense? Why do I feel you're bluffing? We're at least 500 meters away from the Dojo! How could you sense her?"

"Didn't I say? Within a kilometer, I'm never wrong." Rex rolled his eyes. "If you really want to know where she went, why don't you call her? But, Lorna, Colleen is your Sensei. Don't you trust her to be okay?"

"Humph!" Lorna twitched her nose. "Heartless boss! Do you think everyone is as cold-blooded as you are?"

Rex put his head in his hands. "I wonder if you actually recognize that I'm the boss! Get out! I need to close up."

Lorna pouted. "No! I'm staying here tonight. Didn't you say the room upstairs is open?"

"Alright, stay, but don't bother me. I have to practice in the quiet room until midnight. If you dare to break in..." Rex tried to look menacing, but stopped.

He turned to the front door. "We have trouble. No matter what, don't lift your Ki Masking!"

"Boss, did you sense..." Lorna started, but saw six heavily armed soldiers bursting through the door. Rex waved to Lorna, and she ducked behind him. Phil Coulson, in a black combat uniform and bulletproof vest, led the way, followed closely by Melinda May.

Seeing the squad, Rex's mind raced. "What's going on? Do I have an X-gene I haven't awakened? Or maybe some alien genes?"

"Coulson, what do you mean? I was just closing up! Why break in like this?" Rex shielded Lorna, trying to sound irritated.

"Mr. Lee, we meet again. I'm sorry, but this is a precaution. Don't worry." Phil pointed to the team.

Rex sneered. "If that's the case, can my clerk leave? She's just an ordinary person."

"Ordinary?" Phil smiled and stepped forward. "I don't think so!"

Phil was talking when Rex felt Lorna trembling. He reached behind him, grabbing her arm and pinching her, warning her not to attack.

Rex raised his hand, his gaze angry. "What do you mean? How is Lorna not ordinary? You suspected me first, saying I might be a mutant. I gave you a blood sample and everything! Now you're doubting my staff? I'm starting to feel targeted."

"Please, Mr. Lee, don't get agitated." Phil was clearly concerned as Rex raised his hand. He took a step back, placing his hand on his holster. "We're not malicious. We just want to talk."

Rex looked up, gently pressing Lorna's hand again. He pointed at the soldiers. "Then tell them to put their weapons down!"

"Yes!" Phil seemed to agree, but then pulled out a pair of high-tech handcuffs. "As long as you agree to wear these, no guns will be pointed at you."

Rex squinted at the soldiers. A week ago, he was in a similar situation with the Hatchet Gang. This time, he wasn't helpless.

"So you want me to come with you? Alright..." Rex raised his arms as if surrendering. But his hands were close to his head, fingers slowly aiming at his forehead. Before Phil could react, Rex sneered, "You made me do this. SOLAR FLARE!"

A blinding light erupted from Rex's head and arms, overwhelming everyone. The special unit screamed, shielding their eyes. They were temporarily blinded and shocked.

A human-powered flash grenade was certainly scary!

Rex smirked. He channeled his Ki into a blinding light, his Solar Flare hitting everyone indiscriminately. The special unit, Melinda May, and even Lorna were caught in the blast. Only Phil Coulson, wearing sunglasses at night, resisted. Why he wore them at night was a mystery...
