Alex had always been protective of Isabella, but now that she was pregnant, his care for her skyrocketed to a whole new level. He woke up early every morning to go on gentle walks with her, following every single piece of advice the doctor had given for pregnant women. He refused to leave anything to chance, not when it came to the safety of his wife and their unborn child.
"Come on, Isabella," Alex said one morning, coaxing her out of bed. "The doctor said walking in the morning is good for both of you."
Isabella groaned, pulling the covers over her head. "I'm still tired, Alex! Can't we skip today?"
But Alex was insistent, gently tugging her out of bed and wrapping her in a warm coat. "You'll feel better once you're outside," he assured her with a smile. "I even made your favorite tea."
After their walk, Alex wouldn't let Isabella lift a finger. He made sure she rested as much as possible and began cooking for her, taking over the kitchen despite his lack of experience. To everyone's surprise, Alex became quite the chef, preparing nutritious meals that were perfectly tailored to her pregnancy.
Isabella, however, started noticing the downside. "Alex, if you keep feeding me like this, I'm going to get fat," she complained one evening as he placed yet another plate of food in front of her. It was her third meal of the day, and it wasn't even noon yet.
Alex chuckled, brushing off her concerns. "You're eating for two now," he said, grinning. "You need to stay strong and healthy for the baby."
"But you're giving me enough food for an army," she laughed, eyeing the large portion of fruit, grilled fish, and salad.
He sat down next to her, watching her eat with satisfaction. "I just want to make sure you're well-fed and taken care of."
Isabella rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling. "You're going to spoil me."
"That's the plan," Alex said with a wink.
As time went on, Alex's attentiveness only grew. He even offered to bathe her, which made Isabella burst out laughing the first time he suggested it.
"You're treating me like a baby, Alex!" she said, giggling as he set up a warm bath for her.
"You deserve to be treated like royalty," he responded, completely serious as he tested the water. "I want to make sure you're relaxed and happy."
Isabella shook her head, amused but also touched by his thoughtfulness. "If I wasn't already pregnant, all this pampering would definitely make me lazy."
As much as Isabella loved Alex's attention, she couldn't help but worry about her weight. Every day, he cooked her delicious meals, made sure she rested, and monitored her health, but she couldn't stop thinking about how much she was eating.
"Alex," she said one afternoon, glancing at herself in the mirror. "I'm getting bigger."
He walked over to her, gently placing his hands on her shoulders. "You're growing our child, Isabella. That's all that matters."
"I know," she said softly. "But…"
Alex knelt in front of her, pressing a kiss to her growing belly. "You're beautiful, and nothing else matters to me but you and the baby."
His words eased her concerns, and Isabella couldn't help but smile. As much as she teased him about his over-the-top care, she was grateful. She had never felt so loved, so cherished.
"Okay, fine," she said with a sigh, leaning down to kiss the top of his head. "But if I do get fat, it's all your fault."
"I'll take full responsibility," Alex grinned, standing up to kiss her softly. "But you'll still be perfect to me."
With that, they settled into a comfortable routine—Alex fussing over her every need, and Isabella, despite her complaints, enjoying the extra attention. For the first time in a long while, they felt like they were in their own bubble, far away from the chaos of their past. The world could wait—right now, they were just focusing on each other and the new life they were creating together.
