Chapter 5 - Chapter Five: Set in Stone

On the bench of the basketball court, in a quiet corner are Em and Ar. "Ok how do I start, My parents…. my parents…. are crooks who only care what they can get out of someone." Em unknowingly replied with a harsh tone. " So um, wow I wasn't expecting that kind of answer, you know what, keep it for another time, I won't pressure you into telling me….,"

Ar tried to say but Em stopped him. "No it's fine, how about I tell you two things they did to my siblings and I." Em comments, preparing himself. "When my older sister turned 18 she wanted to make her own bank account you know for herself for college, the joint account that she had with my bitch of a mother was for the college money, low and behold when she got to the bank to get her college money, the account was in the negatives, later that day finding out that they used the money to try to pay off their Mortgage. They took about 3,000 dollars from her and she never trusted them again with her money….

When I was 15 I got a job to try and get some money for my driving lessons, one day when they didn't have enough to buy wooden flooring they went to me and my brother for 200 dollars, I told them that the money was for my driving lessons that I had to pay the school fees so I could get my provisionals license, my younger brother said he couldn't give them the money because he was saving to buy a car when he turned 19, they looked at us told us to sit down and they said that we were stingy for not helping them, my mom said she carried us for months in her belly yada yada, and then my dad said we can't say no because we have to help family and family helps each other, after my brother and I are done getting manipulated I gave him the 200, my dad saids that he has sons, that he has men but he said to my brother you're half a man and I'm a full man." Em remarked with clenched fists.

"Wow what an ass, no dad should have to manipulate his sons like that, damn, I didn't realize how shit they were, I'm sorry bro." Ar remarked solemnly.

"It's fine, I cut them out of my life…, Oh, that reminds me of something a wise man once said , If you failed to plan, you planned to fail, That statement is just how my parents are, they failed to plan ahead, failed to reenroll me in a new school when they should've a month ago but that's passed me now, now that I've told you at least." Em responded

"Anyway enough about them, how do you think you'll do on your exam?" Em mentioned to Ar, wiping away his old emotional roller coaster. "Well, its tomorrow so, just pray for me bro." He uttered worryingly. "Dang bro its that bad?" Em said concerned. "Nah, I'm just fucking with you, I'ma try to get it done before Prom night." Ar replied.

"Wait!, your not telling Rina about your plan." Em replied with a speculative look. " Of course not, I'm gonna surprise her obviously."

Ar glances at his watch, " So yeah, gotta go start section one and two today, see you later bro." Ar remarks walking off to his exam area.

Later that night-

Rina responded in a sultry voice.

"Then say it," he asserted in a possessive tone. "Say what?" She replied with mock ignorance. "I want to here from your slut mouth." He exclaimed waiting for those words. "Arnold Strickland means nothing to me, only you do Robert, you and only you." She replied in a husky voice. "You're damn right, you're daddy's little play thing, aren't you?" He silently declared to her. The both of them going back to their conversation.

Em replied. "What are we gonna tell Arnie?" Mike commented. "No, we'll tell him after, I don't want him to fail this exam, it's really important to him." Em remarked "Fine, but when he finishes we have to tell him ok!" Mike replied worriedly.
