Deadpool's combat skills were no joke. Even though he wasn't wielding his iconic dual swords at the moment, he still managed to handle a frying pan with remarkable proficiency. He used it both as a shield to block incoming bullets and as a weapon to knock down enemies. Heck, he even managed to ricochet bullets off the pan—talk about over the top!

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

*Clang! Clang! Clang!*

Amidst the symphony of gunfire and the clashing of metal, a fierce battle erupted.

*Duang!*

In the midst of the chaos, Deadpool moved as if channeling Jackie Chan, darting around the tight space of the room, making use of anything he could find to dodge the bullets with near-perfect precision. Then, with one swift motion, he flattened an enemy with the frying pan.

*Bang!*

In another flurry of dazzling moves, Deadpool's frying pan seemed almost enchanted as he flung it through the air. Instantly, it smacked another guy right in the forehead, sending him tumbling to the ground.

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

As Deadpool momentarily exposed himself, a few other gunmen immediately opened fire on him without mercy. However, there was no way they could hit him so easily. He dove forward, gracefully evading their shots while grabbing a knife block from the kitchen counter. With a swift flick of his wrist, he sent a knife flying straight toward one of the large men standing in his way.

*Swish!*

The knife turned into a deadly projectile, embedding itself into the man's chest, killing him instantly.

Without missing a beat, Deadpool charged forward, the knife block still in hand, engaging the remaining enemies in close combat. The knives in his hands were as deadly as any weapon, and with each swing, more blood sprayed into the air.

*Slice! Slice! Slice!*

The sickening sound of flesh being sliced open echoed through the room. In a matter of moments, all the hired killers lay on the ground, lifeless, having been taken out by Deadpool's swift and brutal attacks.

"Babe? Babe? It's safe now!" After finishing off every last one of the attackers, Deadpool frantically scanned the room, calling out.

Vanessa finally stood up from behind the couch, smiling, "I'm fine, honey."

"Phew!" Deadpool breathed a sigh of relief, visibly relaxing now that he knew Vanessa was unharmed. With his signature flair, he quipped, "Thank God I didn't have to use our cheese grater."

But just as he finished speaking, footsteps echoed from behind. Another gunman had appeared, rushing in from outside and raising his weapon at Deadpool.

Deadpool spun around without hesitation and hurled another kitchen knife.

*Clang!*

Unfortunately, the gunman was standing near the door and instinctively dodged, causing the knife to bury itself into the doorframe instead.

*Bang!*

The gunman managed to squeeze the trigger, and a bullet fired from the chamber. However, because he had dodged Deadpool's knife, his aim had shifted, and instead of hitting Deadpool, the bullet struck Vanessa.

"Ugh…" A soft grunt escaped Vanessa's lips as she collapsed to the floor.

"You bastard!" Deadpool's eyes widened in fury. With a primal roar, he lunged at the gunman like a wild animal, taking him down in mere seconds.

After dispatching the final enemy, he rushed back to Vanessa's side, cradling her in his arms. "Babe, speak to me! Are you okay? Tell me you're okay!"

"Wade…" Vanessa sat up slowly, a relieved smile spreading across her face. "I'm fine. The bullet hit my clothes. You forgot, didn't you? This outfit's made from the Suit-Suit Fruit; Babe, it's bulletproof."

Deadpool let out a long breath, his body finally relaxing. Of course, he hadn't forgotten about her devil fruit, but his instinct was to panic first and ask questions later.

After thoroughly checking her and confirming she was truly unharmed, Deadpool grinned, "Thank God for the shopkeeper! Babe, you dodged a bullet. Literally!"

"Yeah," Vanessa echoed, her voice full of gratitude." Thank God for that store."

The two exchanged a meaningful look, both thinking the same thing: buying Vanessa that Devil Fruit had been the smartest decision they'd ever made.

If they hadn't…That bullet would have ended Vanessa's life in an instant.

Deadpool couldn't even begin to imagine what he would have done if that had happened. Could he have gone on? Probably not.

Helen Cho's Research Center.

"Jennifer, how much longer until the digital simulation is complete?"

Dr. Helen Cho was immersed in her work at the control center of the Regeneration Cradle, her eyes fixed on the rapidly shifting icons and data streams flashing across the large screen in front of her. She absentmindedly asked her assistant, Jennifer, while continuing her analysis.

Jennifer glanced at the simulation's progress before replying, "Another three hours, Doctor."

"Three hours, huh?" Dr. Cho paused for a moment, weighing her options, then made a decision. "That's enough time. Jennifer, let's run another set of experiments."

"But Doctor Cho," Jennifer said, shaking her head slightly, "you won't have time. Don't forget, you have a meeting with Dr. Morbius in twenty minutes. You should probably get ready."

Helen Cho blinked, suddenly remembering the appointment. 'Right!' She had scheduled a meeting with Dr. Morbius at three o'clock but had gotten so absorbed in her research that she nearly forgot.

"You're right. Thanks for the reminder, Jennifer. I'll go change."

"Got it, Doctor. I'll take care of everything here," Jennifer replied quickly.

Nodding, Helen hurried out of the lab. Once in her private room, she removed her lab coat and changed into something more appropriate for the meeting. She quickly washed her face and touched up her makeup. Just as she was finishing, a staff member knocked and called out, "Dr. Cho, Dr. Morbius has arrived."

"I'll be right there." After a quick glance in the mirror to finish applying her makeup, Dr. Cho made her way to the reception area.

There, waiting for her, was a pale and frail-looking man. He was so thin that his skin seemed stretched over his bones, and his ghostly white complexion gave him an eerie appearance. Using a pair of crutches, the man struggled to his feet as Dr. Cho entered the room.

"Dr. Cho, it's an honor to meet you. Your work in bio-nanotechnology is nothing short of extraordinary," Morbius greeted her with effort.

"You flatter me, Dr. Morbius. Your breakthroughs in biochemistry are the true marvels. I highly respect your work," Helen replied sincerely as they shook hands.

Her words were not mere pleasantries. Dr. Michael Morbius was a renowned scientist, even more famous than Bruce Banner in some circles. After all, Bruce had never won a Nobel Prize.

But despite his brilliance, Dr. Morbius was afflicted with an incurable blood disease—something that filled the scientific community with both awe and pity.

Though that was all in the past now.
