Chapter 4 - The Cat-Girl Who Is The Last Of Her Kind

"The first form will give you the ability to move as fast as a lightning flash...

...The second can imbue your weapon with the strength of a lightning strike...

...The third will make your roar as loud and destructive as thunder...

...The fourth would allow you to summon a ball of lightning...

...The fifth will give you an armor of black lightning...

...The sixth can create a storm of thunder...

...And the seventh will give you the power of the Guardian Beast, the Lightning Beast Saber."

The Cat-girl listens as her mentor, the cat-like Half-Beast kin grandpa, tells her the story about her Bloodline Magic origin.

A kind of Magic only for her to use.

For there's no one left in the whole world like her.

As she is the last of her kind.

A Demi-Human of the Lightning Beast Saber.

.

.

.

Even though she's a Demi-Human, the Cat-girl was born from Human parents who carry the Lightning Beast Bloodline in their blood.

Her father died to save her and her mother just a few days after the Cat-girl was born.

Her mother, along with her mother's companions, rescued by the Cat-girl's beloved teacher, brought the Cat-girl to the town where they are currently living to protect her.

The Cat-girl lives in the Orphanage together with her mother. She was loved by everyone. By her mother, of course, by the caretakers and orphans at the Orphanage, by her friends and teachers at Adventurers school, by the Knights, Valkyries, and Soldiers who would visit their town, and by everyone living in their town.

But as the Cat-girl grows and learns, she starts to wonder.

Why doesn't anyone look like her?

The Cat-girl has black hair and black fur on her cat ears and tail.

She has seen other cat-like Half-Beast kin like the Adventurers Guild Master and her mentor. Yet, the Guild Master has brown hair and fur, while her mentor has gray hair and fur.

They're the same but not the same.

It was the Cat-girl's words as she told her mother what she had observed. And at the same time, ask the thing she was wondering.

"Is there no one else like me?"

"Of course there is. Wouldn't he always appear every time you call his name?"

The Cat-girl's mother answers her child as cheerfully as she can be to console the Cat-girl's anxiety as she tries to divert the attention of the Cat-girl from the thought that there is no other like her.

"But Cat-san isn't like me. He's a real cat, not a human cat."

As the Cat-girl calls the nickname Cat-san, a small black cat around the size of her palm appears at the top of her head between her cat ears.

The small black cat is a Cat-sith. A Sub-Spirit that Demi-Humans can summon to help them use their Bloodline Magic.

"Well, even if Cat-san is not a human cat, he's still the same as you. After all, he's also a member of our family. Right, Felin-chan?"

"Mhm!... Cat-san is family!"

Seeing her child back to her usual cheerful self, the Cat-girl's mother pats the Cat-girl and the Cat-sith on their head as the Cat-girl hugs her mother.

"Meow..."

"Cat-san said he likes Mama a lot!"

"Really?..."

"Mhm!... He also likes Grandpa Danboro. But he didn't like the Guild Master that much."

"Well, the Guild Master looks scary after all. It's no wonder Cat-san didn't like him."

"The Guild Master is not scary... Sensei said that he is a child-like idiot."

The Cat-girl continues to grow as cheerful as she can be surrounded by her friends.

By her friends living at the same Orphanage, by her friends studying to become Adventurers, and by her closest friends whom she thinks as members of her family as well.

Her weird friend who always tells her amazing stories and shares weird toys with her.

Her Half-Elf friend who always looks after her at the Adventurers school.

Her big sister friend who always looks after her and the other children at the Orphanage.

They would always play together and help each other when their in trouble.

Like that time when her weird friend got hung on her feet for turning their classmate into a big frog with her weird potion.

Like that time when her Half-Elf friend blew up the classroom with her Magic.

Like that time when her big sister can't find where the small children are hiding in the Orphanage.

Like that time when her mother got mad at her for eating honey candy before dinner.

They would always be there to support each other. Like that time when her Half-Elf friend locked herself in her room, refusing to see them.

.

.

.

When her weird friend heard the news of her Half-Elf friend refusing to see anyone, she was asked to come together with her big sister friend at her Half-Elf friend's home.

When they arrive, her weird friend leads the march towards her Half-Elf friend's room.

After being refused by her Half-Elf friend to meet them, her weird friend breaks the door using one of her weird toys.

When her Half-Elf friend saw their group, she just started crying.

The Half-Elf girl told them the reason why she had locked herself in her room. Yet the Cat-girl didn't understand what it meant. All that she could understand was that her Half-Elf friend was sad and afraid.

Then her weird friend started saying weird things like those amazing stories her weird friend would tell her.

Once again, the Cat-girl didn't understand what it all meant. The only thing she managed to comprehend was that her weird friend would go on a great adventure together with her Half-Elf friend.

Seeing her Half-Elf friend not getting sad and afraid anymore, the Cat-girl has realized one thing.

If going on a great adventure would make her Half-Elf friend not sad and afraid, then she would go with them to help each other like they always do.

On that day the Cat-girl made a promise.

"Mhm!... Let's go with the great adventure, Mifumi-sama."

"That's right, Felin!... You and I, together with Mifumi-sama and Rozze, will become great Adventurers and have an adventure that will be remembered by everyone for more than a thousand years."

"Mhm!..."

The Cat-girl made a promise to go on a great adventure together with her friends.

Because even though they are not the same as her, they are the same as her. After all, these friends of her are members of her family too.
