Synopsis

Chapter 1 - Soul Ember (Prologue)

"For I am nothing but A Phantom of the person who I once was before...

...A fragment of burning Memories...

...A shard of flaring Knowledge...

...A wisp of flickering Emotions...

...A fading flame within the Soul...

...A Soul Ember which is bound to disappear as the flame of life reaches its end."

In the place within the Soul, where there is nothing but a white void, there she is standing alone.

She remembers her name but that is not for her to own. She remembers her life but she is not the one who has lived that life.

For she is nothing but a Phantom of the person who she once was before. For her life that she lived before has already reached its end.

She is nothing but a fragment of burning Memories. The Memories of life that she has lived.

Memories from her innocent childhood, from the adventurous days of her youth, from the hardship of being an adult, and from the peaceful days of the old.

She is nothing but a shard of flaring Knowledge. The Knowledge that she has learned through the life she once lived.

The knowledge that she had learned from her days in school, from her curiosity and interest, from the way she had lived her life, and from the choices she made.

She is nothing but a wisp of flickering Emotions. The Emotions that she has felt living a life she once has chosen for herself.

Emotions that she felt from her family, from the ones she called friends, from the ones she had loved and hated, and from the rest of her world.

She is a fading flame that gives life to the person she has become. To the person who is supposed to be her reincarnation.

She is a Soul Ember. An Ember that keeps the flame of life burning. A Phantom that rests deep within the Soul. A flame destined to disappear at the end of life of her reincarnation.

It is her fate to fade. For there is no flame capable of blazing for eternity.

Yet that fate is something she has already accepted. For being a Soul Ember is something she is proud of.

She stands there alone in the vast space of the white void, seeing the unfamiliar world through the eyes of her reincarnation, understanding the unknown knowledge through the mind of her reincarnation, and feeling the emotions she had felt before through the heart of her reincarnation.

She is supposed to be nothing but a Phantom and she has already accepted her fate.

But seeing that unfamiliar world through the eyes of her reincarnation made her yearn to see more of that world, understanding that unknown knowledge sparked her curiosity and interest, and feeling all of those emotions reminded her of the person she was once before.

She is supposed to be nothing but a Phantom of the person she was once before.

Yet, for the first time since she has been aware of her existence as a Soul Ember, there she is, dreaming of becoming something more.

She raised her hand in front of her as if trying to grab the unfamiliar world that she sees through the eyes of her reincarnation as the urge to take a step forward and run towards that unfamiliar world emerged from deep within herself.

But that is nothing but a wishful dream. For this life is not for her to live. She is bound to stand alone in this void until the day she disappears.

"...Sob!... Sob!... Sob!..."

But in the vast white void where there was supposed to be nothing but her alone, she heard a cry whimpering behind her.

As she turned her back while being anxious about that strange noise, what she found was a child crying while sitting on the white floor.

That child, with her hands wrapped around her knees and her face buried on it as if she's hiding from the rest of the world, continues to cry without being aware of her presence.

The existence of that child within the place inside the Soul, where there's nothing but a white void, is extremely strange. For she, who is a Soul Ember, should only be the one to exist in this place.

Yet that matter is not what makes her concerned. For that child crying in front of her is her reincarnation.
