Normally, Riverside Prep going on the counter wouldn't be a problem. The problem in that scenario was that they had remained dormant in their penalty box for so long without any form of attack that the Charles Patterson players had become lax. Their central backs and other defensive players had unknowingly moved very high up the pitch, so Luke Lawson (Riverside Prep right midfielder) only needed to play one pass through the middle to unlock Charles Patterson's defense.

William Wood (Riverside Prep striker) was faster than the two Charles Patterson center back and managed to push it forward, past the two of them that had outstretched legs in an attempt to intercept the ball.
