Kara Danvers, known as Kara Zor-El in Kryptonian, is Superman's cousin. Before Krypton exploded, Superman was sent to Earth as an infant. Kara was supposed to follow, tasked with protecting him, but her spaceship veered off course, and it took years for her to finally reach Earth. Although she hadn't aged during her journey, by the time she arrived, Superman had already grown up and become Earth's greatest hero.
Upon her arrival, Superman arranged for Kara to be adopted by the Danvers family. Without the responsibility of caring for her cousin, she was able to grow up as an ordinary girl, attending school and living a relatively normal life. After graduation, Kara chose to become a reporter like her cousin and joined CatCo Worldwide Media. However, instead of working as a reporter, she became the secretary to the media mogul Cat Grant.
Her life followed a trajectory similar to Superman's. In her day-to-day life, she donned glasses and ordinary clothes. But when duty called, she would tear away her disguise to become Supergirl. And it's worth mentioning—her transformation by tearing off her clothes is particularly impressive!
After leaving the hotel, Su Sheng's first stop was a real estate agency. Within the hour, he purchased a high-end apartment over 200 square meters in size, complete with a semi-enclosed private swimming pool. The entire process—from viewing the property to signing the contract and paying in full—took less than an hour.
As the enthusiastic agent handed over the keys to Su Sheng, she also slipped him a note with her phone number scribbled on it. Unfortunately for her, she wasn't quite his type. With the keys in hand, Su Sheng initially planned to visit Kara, but after arriving at CatCo Worldwide Media and scanning the entire floor, he couldn't find her. He decided to return to the hotel instead.
"Come with me," Su Sheng said to Jesse, who had calmed down but still had slightly red eyes.
This time, Jesse complied. Although reluctant, she followed Su Sheng out of the hotel in silence. Jesse was young, and with her father Harrison Wells keeping a close watch on her back on Earth-2, she hadn't had many opportunities to explore the world. As she walked alongside Su Sheng through the bustling, unfamiliar city, her curiosity got the better of her.
Su Sheng took Jesse to a large supermarket, where they shopped for daily necessities and several sets of clothes. Jesse's eyes were wide with wonder, noticing many small but significant differences between this world and her own. After more than an hour of shopping, they arrived at the apartment Su Sheng had just purchased, carrying bags of goods.
"We're living here?" Jesse asked, surprised.
"Better than being held captive by Zoom, right?" Su Sheng replied nonchalantly as he set down the bags.
Jesse remained silent.
"Put your things away. Can you cook? If not, learn, or order takeout. I'll give you money. If you want to go out, feel free—just be back before I go to bed at night!"
Su Sheng's attitude toward Jesse was more like that of a strict host than a kidnapper. Jesse silently accepted the money and began organizing their new home. Although Jesse was the daughter of Harrison Wells and accustomed to a life of privilege on Earth-2, she knew some basic cooking. After tidying up the apartment and preparing a meal, she noticed night had fallen outside.
As darkness descended, Jesse grew increasingly nervous.
After Su Sheng emerged from his shower, he glanced at Jesse, who was sitting quietly, still tense. He instructed her to take a shower as well. Jesse nodded silently and headed to the bathroom.
The sound of water ceased after a while.
Jesse stepped out of the bathroom, only to find the living room empty. The light was on in the master bedroom.
After hesitating for a long time, she walked over.
Pushing the door open, she found Su Sheng lying on the bed, using Gideon to gather information about this world. Unsure of what to say, Jesse stood frozen for a moment before she silently crawled into the bed, keeping to the far edge.
Tense and restrained, Jesse didn't dare move, lying stiffly with her back turned to Su Sheng, her mind racing with anxious thoughts.
Time passed, and exhaustion began to take its toll.
Having been abducted by Zoom, locked away for days, rescued by Fiora only to be knocked unconscious, and then transported to an unfamiliar world, Jesse was both physically and mentally drained. Lying in the soft bed after a hot shower, she slowly drifted off to sleep.
Morning arrived.
When Jesse woke up, Su Sheng was no longer beside her. Emerging from the bedroom, she found the living room empty as well.
Where was Su Sheng?
He was downstairs at CatCo Worldwide Media, holding a large bouquet of roses.
Passersby couldn't help but steal glances at him, especially the employees of CatCo. Their curiosity was piqued—who was the lucky woman these flowers were meant for?
"Excuse me, please let me through."
"Sorry."
Kara Danvers was rushing through the crowd, dressed in a beige pencil skirt, pink blouse, and a headband that held back her hair. Her glasses framed her face, and a shoulder bag was slung over her arm as she carefully balanced several cups of coffee. She called out apologetically to the people blocking her way.
She was going to be late.
Kara needed to reach the office before Cat Grant arrived.
Just as she was about to enter the building, a figure suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her path.
"I'm sorry," Kara said, trying to step around him, but then she saw the bouquet of roses thrust in her direction, and she froze. She looked up, adjusting her glasses, to see a handsome man smiling at her.
"Um…"
"Kara Danvers," the man said.
"Yes, that's me. And you are?" Kara asked, confused.
Seeing her puzzled expression, Su Sheng smiled and asked, "Do you have a boyfriend in this world?"
"No… no, I don't," Kara stammered, even more confused. What was going on?
"You do now!" Su Sheng declared, handing her the roses. "My name is Su Sheng. Would you be my girlfriend?"
"What?"
Kara was stunned—completely stunned.
Did she hear that correctly? Did this man just propose to her? No, he was asking her to be his girlfriend? But… Kara stared blankly at Su Sheng, trying to process what was happening. She didn't know him at all.
"Are you sure you haven't mistaken me for someone else? We don't even know each other," Kara asked tentatively.
"You don't know me, but I know you—and I've known you for a long time," Su Sheng said with a smile.
A crush?
The people around them immediately understood. This guy, Su Sheng, must have been harboring a secret crush on Kara Danvers for ages, and now he had finally mustered up the courage to confess.
