Chapter 174 - Chapter 173: Dating Supergirl

Kara Danvers stared blankly at Su Sheng, who was standing in front of her with a bouquet of flowers and a smile. She never imagined something like this would happen to her. Kara always saw herself as ordinary, at least in how she conducted herself.

A crush? A confession?

She had never experienced anything like this before.

"Last night, I used my powers for the first time to save Alex and the passengers on that plane, and now I'm being confessed to today. Is this some kind of reward for doing good deeds?" Kara wondered, her thoughts drifting.

"Aren't you going to take them?" Su Sheng asked with a smile.

Kara hurriedly took the flowers, feeling embarrassed. "Well, thank you very much for the flowers. This is actually the first time I've received flowers from a guy. They're beautiful, but…"

"Don't be in such a rush to refuse," Su Sheng interjected gently. "I know you don't remember me, but could you at least give me a chance to let you get to know me? And…" Su Sheng glanced at the crowd of onlookers curiously watching the scene unfold, then chuckled, "If you turn me down now, you'll make me look pretty embarrassed."

"Well…"

"I'll pick you up after work, and we can have dinner together," Su Sheng suggested simply.

Kara hesitated for a moment but then nodded.

"Great, it's a date then," Su Sheng said with a smile.

"I, um, I need to get to work," Kara pointed toward the building and quickly walked inside, her movements awkward and a bit unnatural.

Receiving flowers and a confession right outside the office?

Such an event made it impossible for her to focus on anything else.

"Huff… huff… huff…" Kara breathed heavily in the elevator, trying to calm herself down, while Su Sheng watched her retreat with a small smirk.

Kara Danvers was genuinely amusing.

Su Sheng had always been curious about whether a woman with a body of steel was hard all over, and although Fiora was also Kryptonian, Supergirl Kara Danvers was clearly more intriguing. Originally, when Su Sheng left in the morning, he planned to go directly to Kara, but he stopped by a flower shop on a whim. The shop owner had been quite persuasive, and the idea of giving flowers to a girlfriend sounded appealing.

Why not? After all, he didn't have a girlfriend in this world, and only Jesse and Fiora knew him. He could try something different, which led to the scene of him confessing with flowers.

He was curious to see if he could win over Supergirl Kara Danvers!

After leaving CatCo, Su Sheng wandered around, scouting for a restaurant suitable for a date. After grabbing a quick lunch, he returned to the apartment.

Jesse was watching TV on the sofa.

After taking a shower and changing clothes, Su Sheng's actions caught Jesse's attention. "Where are you going?" she asked curiously.

"Getting ready for a date," Su Sheng replied casually.

"A date?" Jesse was stunned.

Of course, she didn't think Su Sheng was going to date her; she was just curious about who he was going to date. She wanted to ask more questions, but seeing Su Sheng wasn't in the mood to talk, she decided to suppress her curiosity.

Time seemed to fly by, and Kara Danvers felt like she spent the entire workday doing nothing but handing a few papers to Cat Grant and getting scolded a few times.

She was nervous!

Kara was inexplicably more nervous than she had been during any interview. As she watched her colleagues pack up and leave one by one, Kara slowly packed her things, fumbling several times and even putting the wrong items into her bag.

"Why are you still here?" Cat Grant, dressed in a sharp and elegant outfit, stepped out of her office and asked casually when she saw Kara still packing up.

"Just finishing up, Ms. Grant," Kara replied hastily.

Cat Grant glanced at the bouquet of roses on Kara's desk and remarked indifferently, "Walking slowly, dawdling—no matter what you do, you're always dawdling. What's the most important quality for a reporter? Be decisive, be simple, and be quick to seize opportunities. News won't wait for you to be ready, and neither will boyfriends!"

"Ms. Grant, I…"

Cat Grant turned and walked away, clearly uninterested in hearing any excuses.

"Phew…"

Kara sighed, gathered the last of her things, and left the office with the bouquet in hand.

Ding!

The elevator doors opened.

Kara stepped out of the elevator with small, tentative steps. As soon as she exited the building, she spotted Su Sheng waiting for her not far away.

"I thought you might not come out, trying to avoid me," Su Sheng greeted her with a chuckle, glancing at the flowers she was holding.

"I… I didn't know what to do with them, and it felt wrong to just throw them away," Kara explained awkwardly.

Su Sheng smiled. "I've already made a reservation at the restaurant. Shall we go?"

With that, Su Sheng led Kara to a sports car parked on the side of the road. He opened the passenger door for her, and once she was seated, he got in and started the car, driving off. He had bought the car just before coming to pick her up.

It was clear that Kara Danvers was a complete novice when it came to dating. She remained nervous and cautious after getting into the car, unsure of what to say or how to act, feeling utterly embarrassed. Su Sheng, on the other hand, was completely at ease, casually chatting with her until they arrived at the restaurant.

At the reserved table, Su Sheng pulled out a chair for Kara before sitting across from her. Smiling at the waiter, he said, "We're ready to order."

It didn't take long for the food and wine to arrive.

"I didn't know your preferences, so I hope there's nothing here you can't eat or don't like," Su Sheng said.

Kara shook her head. "No, everything's fine."

"That's good."

Su Sheng didn't pressure Kara, keeping the conversation light and steering clear of any serious discussions about their date. He fabricated a story about being a Chinese businessman who had just moved to Central City and chatted with her about everyday topics. Kara, who had been anxious at first, gradually relaxed. Eventually, the conversation began to flow more naturally, and she even started initiating topics on her own. The relaxed atmosphere allowed her to finally ask the question that had been on her mind.

"How did you know me? And why don't I remember you at all?"

"Of course, you wouldn't remember me. We only met briefly by chance, but there was something special about you that caught my attention. So, I took some time to learn more about you and your work," Su Sheng explained with a chuckle.

Love at first sight?

Kara Danvers was secretly pleased but also a bit doubtful.

Had she really made such a strong impression on someone at first sight?
