Silence.
A deathly silence gripped the room. Just moments ago, Zoom had been brimming with confidence, eager to lead his followers to conquer another world. But now, he had been killed and reduced to ashes in the blink of an eye. The change was too sudden—too fast. Watching Su Sheng's lightning shift from yellow to blue left all the villains in stunned disbelief. They were witnessing the power of a speedster from another Earth, one who had not only killed Zoom but also absorbed his Speed Force. What were they supposed to do now?
As the villains hesitated, unsure whether to run or fight, Harrison Wells felt a surge of joy. Zoom was dead, and his daughter was safe. He approached Su Sheng, ready to speak, but before he could say a word, a flash of azure blue lightning streaked past him.
Harrison Wells froze.
Su Sheng was gone.
The villains were also stunned. Zoom was dead, and the one who killed him had just left. With no clear goal or leader, confusion spread among them. Those who had been coerced quickly decided to leave, and soon the villains began dispersing like a disbanded mob.
"Blue definitely looks better."
Su Sheng darted through the city, marveling at his new Speed Force. He wasn't sure if the color change was due to the quantity of Speed Force he had absorbed, or if it was because Zoom's Speed Force had enhanced his own. Either way, the blue lightning was far more pleasing to the eye, and his base speed had significantly increased.
Even without layering his speed, Su Sheng was now much faster than before.
Whoosh!
Su Sheng came to a sudden stop. Fiora was still where they had parted, holding the unconscious Jesse.
"That was quick," Su Sheng said, somewhat impressed.
Fiora didn't respond. Using her enhanced hearing and vision, she had quickly located Jesse. The girl's panicked questions had tested Fiora's patience, so she had simply knocked her out.
Knowing Fiora was eager to reach the new world, Su Sheng didn't waste any time. He instructed her to hold onto Jesse, then grabbed Fiora's shoulder as they prepared to travel through time once more. Whether due to his increased speed or his upgraded Speed Force, this time Su Sheng found it quick and easy to open the wormhole.
Swish!
The blue lightning flashed and disappeared, and in the next moment, they were in the wilderness.
The wormhole opened.
Su Sheng dashed out, bringing Fiora and Jesse with him.
"Is this the place?" Fiora asked, her voice tinged with excitement.
"Earth-38!" Su Sheng chuckled.
This was the world of Supergirl—a world without The Flash or Green Arrow, but teeming with aliens. Su Sheng couldn't help but think that the original screenwriters had done this on purpose, making it Earth-38 because of the obvious reference. Thirty-eight, thirty-eight—the symbolism was hard to miss.
"You can go now." Su Sheng took Jesse from Fiora and said with a grin.
Fiora looked at Su Sheng, her expression conflicted. After a moment of hesitation, she said, "I hope you didn't lie to me. If you did, I'll find your world, and I'll come back for you."
Su Sheng, holding Jesse, simply shrugged as Fiora shot into the sky with a loud bang.
"Now, time to enjoy the new scenery." Su Sheng smiled as he picked a direction and started walking.
National City.
A bustling and vibrant city, this was also the city where Supergirl lived.
Su Sheng booked a room in a hotel in National City and tossed the unconscious Jesse onto the bed. He turned on the TV and called out to Gideon.
"Gideon, can you establish contact with Earth-One?" Su Sheng asked casually.
"Not at the moment. It will take time to analyze and synchronize the frequencies of the different worlds," Gideon replied.
Su Sheng acknowledged the response and deactivated Gideon.
"Mmm." A pained groan came from the bed as Jesse slowly woke up, rubbing her neck. "It hurts… Where am I?"
As she opened her eyes and saw the unfamiliar surroundings, Jesse froze. Her shock deepened when she saw Su Sheng. "You… you saved me? Where is this? Where's that woman?"
Su Sheng gestured for her to be quiet as a news broadcast played on the TV.
Last night, a plane had experienced a mid-air emergency but had been saved in a miraculous way. Someone had dragged the plane to safety, landing it in the sea. The news showed footage of this mysterious figure flying away, leaving everyone speculating about her identity.
"So, Supergirl has just started her heroics," Su Sheng mused with a smirk, then turned to Jesse. "Zoom is dead. I killed him. As for the woman who saved you, she's off exploring this new world. Where are we? This is Earth-38."
"You… you brought me to another world? This isn't your world?" Jesse asked, stunned.
Su Sheng nodded. "I'm going to stay here for a while. During that time, you'll be my guest—right here. Once I find a new place, you'll be free, and I'll send you back."
"Why?"
"This is kidnapping!" Jesse exclaimed, growing anxious.
She didn't want to be a hostage, and she didn't want to stay in this world.
Swish!
Su Sheng appeared at the door in an instant, opening it wide. He looked at Jesse. "You're free to leave."
"Leave? Where am I supposed to go? I just want to go back to my world." Jesse got up and walked toward Su Sheng. "You can't do this—you're kidnapping me! Send me back, send me back now! I want to see my father…"
Su Sheng's expression darkened as he suddenly grabbed Jesse by the neck, pulling her close. "What did you tell Zoom when he kidnapped you? Or do you think… I'm easier to bully than Zoom?"
"Let… let go…," Jesse gasped, desperately clawing at Su Sheng's steel-like grip. The suffocating pressure brought tears to her eyes as fear overtook her.
In that moment, the reality hit her—the man before her was the one who had killed The Flash and Zoom, a cold-blooded killer. Behind his seemingly friendly face lay a heart of ice.
"I… I'm sorry," she stammered, trembling.
Slap!
Su Sheng released her, and Jesse collapsed to the floor, sobbing softly.
Shaking his head, Su Sheng left the hotel.
Since he was in a new world, it was time to explore. And maybe, just maybe, he'd run into Supergirl.
