Chapter 164 - Chapter 163: A Shift Toward the Injustice League

"Evacuate all nearby residents immediately, mobilize the troops for suppression, and..." General Swanwick hung up the phone, then turned to Carol Ferris, shouting, "Contact Su Sheng!"

Carol Ferris nodded quickly, picking up the phone and dialing with urgency.

As chaos spread, people fled without needing orders from the police or military. In the distance, Superman swooped in, colliding with Doomsday and propelling it out of the city!

In a worn-down apartment, Lois Lane was also trying to contact Su Sheng. She had a strong suspicion that this monster was somehow connected to him.

After all, with Su Sheng, it wasn't too far-fetched.

"Damn it, why is his phone off?" Lois Lane cursed, only to suddenly feel someone hug her from behind.

"Looking for me?" Su Sheng whispered against her shoulder, his hands slipping under her clothes.

Lois Lane shivered slightly but quickly asked, "Did you create that thing?"

"It's called Doomsday, a product of Kryptonian technology," Su Sheng replied with a soft chuckle. "Right now, the only thing that's certain to kill it is kryptonite. And kryptonite..."

"Only you have it!" Lois Lane interjected. "Why, why are you doing this?"

Ring Ring Ring...

Lois's phone rang. As she answered, she heard Carol Ferris's urgent voice on the other end. "Lois, it's Carol Ferris. Can you reach Su Sheng?"

"Hi, Carol. Good evening," Lois Lane said with a smile, while glancing at Su Sheng.

"The monster in Metropolis..."

"I created it," Su Sheng interrupted, smiling. "Kryptonite can kill it. Do you want some?"

"What are your terms?" General Swanwick's voice replaced Carol's.

"It's simple. Just have Superman wear his classic red underwear. And remember... it has to be red," Su Sheng said with a mischievous grin.

Click!

The call ended abruptly. General Swanwick, his face darkening with anger, asked, "What's the situation?"

Military fighter jets had captured the ongoing battle. The footage showed Doomsday and Superman locked in fierce combat, their brutal, close-quarters fighting reducing the surrounding buildings to rubble.

For now, the fight seemed evenly matched.

"Why are you so obsessed with making Superman...?" Lois Lane began, noticing Su Sheng had hung up the phone. She couldn't help but ask.

It wasn't the first time.

Su Sheng seemed to have an odd fixation on Superman doing this very thing!

"Think of it as a quirky sense of humor," Su Sheng chuckled lightly.

Despite being far from the battlefield, Su Sheng was watching the fight like a blockbuster movie. His attention split between enjoying the chaos on screen and teasing Lois Lane. Was it cruel? Perhaps. But then again, Su Sheng found bad humor in strange places. The emergence of Doomsday had also brought about the first gathering of the Justice League's Big Three. He wondered if Batman and Wonder Woman would show up soon. If Diana did, he thought, he could prepare a little gift for her.

With that thought, Su Sheng released Lois Lane and, in a flash, disappeared.

Yellow lightning streaked through the city, and in no time, Su Sheng arrived at a bookstore. A gust of wind later, and he had several books on music programming in his hands.

Swish, swish, swish!

Su Sheng flipped through each book in mere seconds, moving on to the next. With his accelerated thinking, he quickly mastered the principles of music programming. After about five minutes, Su Sheng had grasped the essentials and raised his wrist to activate Gideon. "Gideon, help me compose a BGM."

Edit, input.

After another ten minutes of tweaking, Su Sheng returned to Lois Lane's apartment, satisfied with his work.

Lois Lane was on the phone with Carol Ferris. The military had been unable to contact Superman directly, and even if they could, Superman was unlikely to agree to such conditions. General Swanwick had devised a plan, a desperate one, to make Superman comply.

"This is too extreme. How could he even think of doing that?" Lois Lane exclaimed as soon as Carol Ferris explained the plan.

"It's the only option we have," Carol Ferris replied helplessly. "I don't agree with it either, but unless you can convince Su Sheng to change his mind..."

"..."

Convince Su Sheng to change his mind? Lois Lane doubted she could.

"I'll try," she said reluctantly, hanging up the phone just as Su Sheng reappeared without her noticing.

"Where did you go?" Lois Lane asked, curious.

Su Sheng walked up to her, smiling as he wrapped an arm around her waist. "Swanwick is playing with fire."

"You... you heard?" Lois Lane whispered. "I agree it's too harsh. Even if you want Superman to do that, why drag others into it? Su Sheng, can't you..."

"No."

Su Sheng refused flatly.

Was Doomsday strong? Absolutely. As a product of Kryptonian technology, it was formidable. But kryptonite could still destroy it. Su Sheng had already laid out the terms, and since the military seemed intent on playing by his rules, there was no way he would back down now. What surprised him, though, was General Swanwick's audacity. He had created Doomsday as a result of being provoked, but even without it, Su Sheng could have come up with another way to wreak havoc. Now, by coercing Superman, Swanwick had made things far more entertaining.

Previously, General Zod had sent someone to interrogate Superman's adoptive mother about the whereabouts of the Codex. When Superman had intervened, the military had discovered her identity, realizing how much she meant to him. With this knowledge, they believed they could leverage her as a bargaining chip. Given Superman's current feelings toward Earth, if General Swanwick were to capture Martha Kent, Superman might very well turn dark.

In the original Injustice storyline, Superman became a tyrant after Lois Lane's death. Back then, the government had also tried to control Superman through similar means, but it only backfired, pushing him further into darkness. Now, this situation seemed to be heading toward the creation of an Injustice League. It was funny, really—Su Sheng had merely created Doomsday, and now, an even more interesting twist was unfolding.
