Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Beat You First, Then Help You!

Ares, the god of war, born from Zeus, the king of the gods, and Hera, the queen of the gods, is one of the twelve main gods of Olympus and the half-brother of Wonder Woman, Diana. He often roams the human world, provoking wars. The more wars there are, the stronger he becomes. He was also one of the gods who fought during the last invasion of Earth by Steppenwolf.

It's not just human nature but also the nature of the gods… Ares began to clash with his father, Zeus. After poisoning humanity and killing the other gods, his father, Zeus, sacrificed himself to repel Ares with all his might, leaving behind a weapon in the hands of the Amazons—a weapon capable of killing Ares.

Trapped on Earth, Ares spent centuries orchestrating wars and maintaining his power, manipulating both sides into conflict during the First World War with the intent of wiping out humanity and plunging Earth into endless war.

Killing all the gods, including Zeus.

The record sounds impressive, but it's a bit overblown.

The sudden appearance of Eris, the goddess of strife, proves that the gods are not completely dead, and while Zeus, the old thief, is "dead," that might not be entirely true. He could have faked his death to avoid the rise of new gods or the real crisis of the gods' destruction.

But regardless, Ares, the god of war, was formidable for both Diana and Donna Troy.

Under the night sky, a nimble figure swiftly darted across the rooftops, soon arriving near the battlefield. Diana and Donna Troy, both battered, stood up again with unyielding determination, ready to continue the fight. Just then, a figure descended from the sky.

"Su Sheng!"

Seeing Su Sheng standing between them and Ares, Diana frowned.

"Is that Su Sheng? The Su Sheng who enslaved Paradise Island and took you away?" Donna Troy asked, recalling what Hippolyta had told her about Su Sheng. When she saw him, she was overjoyed. "With his help, we can defeat Ares."

"He's not a good person," Diana said in a low voice, her expression complicated. Then she raised her voice and shouted at Su Sheng. "What are you doing? This is my battle!"

"This can be my battle too," Su Sheng chuckled.

Diana huffed. "I don't need your help."

"So… I'm here to help him," Su Sheng said, pointing at Ares.

"…?"

Diana, Donna Troy, and Ares were all stunned.

"You… are here to help me?" Ares pointed at himself incredulously, and suddenly, cars and steel from the surroundings floated up and rushed toward him. As they did, these objects morphed and reassembled into armor that attached itself to Ares.

Half an hour later…

Ares, now wearing a holy robe of armor and holding a giant axe, stood tall. His eyes, glowing with a fierce light from within the helmet, locked onto Su Sheng. "I need your help? Boy!"

"You do!" Su Sheng affirmed solemnly.

"Really? Then tell me, when they are no match for me, why do I need the help of a mere human like you, someone I could crush at any time?" Ares looked at Su Sheng coldly.

"Because…" Su Sheng began slowly. The smile on his face gradually turned cold as he suddenly rushed forward.

"There should be very few humans who can match your speed, but unfortunately, in my eyes… you're too slow. You can't hurt me because you can't even scratch my armor…" Ares sneered proudly, but before he could finish, his eyes widened in shock as if they were about to pop out of his head. The next moment, his body was thrown back, and the armor on his chest shattered under the force of Su Sheng's punch.

How is this possible?

Feeling the power in Su Sheng's punch, which seemed capable of piercing through him, Ares looked at Su Sheng in disbelief as he was sent flying. Before he could recover, a hand grabbed his face and slammed him into the ground.

Boom!

Ares, who hadn't even had time to react, was smashed into the ground. The impact caused the ground to dent, sending shockwaves rippling outwards. Diana and Donna Troy stepped back, trying to resist the force while staring at the shocking scene in disbelief.

"Because… if I don't help you, I'll have to kill you!" Su Sheng bent down, grabbing Ares by the face. The armor completely shattered with a crunching sound.

Unbelievable!

Ares couldn't speak, but his eyes were filled with shock and confusion. Why…why?

"By the way, what was it you said earlier? That my speed was too slow? And… what about your armor?" Su Sheng suddenly smiled brightly, lifting Ares with one arm.

Crash.

The fragments of Ares' armor clattered to the ground.

"How about you watch closely as I beat you, so fast that you won't even see it coming?" Su Sheng squinted, carrying Ares, and turned to smile at the stunned Diana and Donna Troy. "If something interesting gets boring, I don't mind quitting halfway. So I'm going to make it a little more exciting. If I don't help you, I'll just kill you and end this."

"Now…" Su Sheng brought Ares in front of him, speaking each word with chilling precision. "Do you need my help?"

Could Ares say no?

Though Ares couldn't comprehend how a human could possess such immense power, he had a strong sense that if he refused, Su Sheng would kill him, and he could actually do it.

Even if Ares was a god!

"Yes… I need… help…" Ares said reluctantly.

"That's more like it!"

Su Sheng released him with a brilliant smile, letting Ares fall to the ground.

Cough, cough, cough…

Ares coughed, his body slowly healing from the horrific wounds as he removed his helmet.

"You… yes, you…" Su Sheng ignored Ares, pointing at Donna Troy with a smile. "From now on, your opponent is me. Are you going to fight me seriously, or are you just going to take it easy?"

"What's happening now?" Donna Troy looked at Diana, bewildered.

Diana shook her head. She hadn't expected Su Sheng to intervene in this way, but it was just like him. After all, he had enslaved Paradise Island just because he wanted to ride a horse, and he had killed the goddess of strife, Eris, because he was afraid she would taint the Lasso of Truth. So, it wasn't entirely surprising that he would help Ares after crushing him.
