Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Let's Join Forces—Together Against the Demon King Su Sheng

The atmosphere at the scene became increasingly chaotic.

It was supposed to be the battle between Diana, Donna Troy, and Ares, where either the heroines would triumph, or Ares would turn the tide and teach them a lesson. But now, everyone was thrown into confusion by Su Sheng's sudden and powerful entrance. First, he beat Ares and now challenged Donna Troy. Whose side was he on?

"No one knows what he's planning. You… be careful. I'll deal with Ares as quickly as I can and come help you," Diana hesitantly advised Donna Troy before turning her attention back to Ares. Even though she and Donna Troy had struggled against him earlier, she was now determined to defeat him, no matter what.

Diana's long legs pushed hard against the ground as she charged toward Ares.

Ares, still reeling from the unexpected beating he had just taken, was not happy. Seeing Diana boldly declare that she would defeat him quickly only fueled his anger further, and the two clashed violently. Whether it was due to Ares not yet fully recovering his strength or the intimidating presence of Su Sheng, Diana fought with renewed vigor. The fight was still uneven, but the balance had shifted from what it had been before.

Donna Troy watched in disbelief, her gaze flickering between the two battles.

"Hey."

A slender hand waved in front of her face, startling Donna Troy. She instinctively stepped back, realizing that Su Sheng had approached her.

But he didn't seem to be making any aggressive moves.

"What's your name?" Su Sheng asked with a smile. From her appearance, she seemed to be only sixteen or seventeen years old, shorter than Diana, and with black hair that contrasted with Diana's. Though her armor style was somewhat similar, it was the black hair that set her apart and confirmed her identity.

If Su Sheng recalled correctly, there were two generations of Wonder Girls. The first was Donna Troy, and the second was Cassie Sandsmark. Cassie, who admired Donna Troy, had fashioned her own equipment and joined the Teen Titans as the second Wonder Girl during the period when Donna had changed her name to Darkstar. However, Cassie had blonde hair, so…

"Donna Troy," she replied, her voice tinged with hesitation.

"It really is you!" Su Sheng's smile widened as he continued in a friendly tone. "So, tell me, where did you come from? I don't recall seeing you on Paradise Island before."

Kindness, especially after displaying such overwhelming power, was a weapon. Donna Troy hesitated only briefly before responding. "I've been training in the outside world. I was brought to Paradise Island after you and Princess Diana left six months ago."

"Six months ago? I might not have been paying much attention to time during my travels."

For Donna Troy and the inhabitants of Paradise Island, Su Sheng and Diana had been gone for over half a year.

"And do you know anything about your origins?" Su Sheng asked, his curiosity piqued by Donna Troy's mysterious background.

Donna Troy paused, then asked cautiously, "What do you mean by origins? Queen Hippolyta told me that I was an orphan she saved from a fire. Because of the potential complications of raising me on Paradise Island, she fostered me outside and trained me from a young age, eventually bringing me back when I was ready."

"An orphan?"

Su Sheng's smile grew wider, then, without warning, he punched Donna Troy in the abdomen.

Caught off guard, Donna Troy doubled over in pain and dropped to her knees.

"Donna Troy!" Diana, locked in fierce combat nearby, had been keeping an eye on them. Seeing this, she cried out in alarm, but her distraction cost her as Ares took advantage and kicked her away.

Donna Troy struggled to stand and, in anger, swung a fist at Su Sheng, but he easily dodged it. As he did, he copied her abilities in the blink of an eye.

"Just as I thought, you possess the same divine powers as Diana, though they're weaker," Su Sheng chuckled, grabbing her fist, twisting it behind her, and pressing her to the ground. He then pulled out the Lasso of Truth, binding her hands behind her back. Donna Troy, unable to resist, lay helplessly on the ground.

"This thing really is handy!" Su Sheng remarked, sitting on Donna Troy's back with a smile as he examined her equipment.

The Lasso of Persuasion: anyone ensnared by it would obey as long as their willpower didn't resist. The Bracelets of Submission: capable of deflecting normal bullets, missiles, and laser attacks. The armor, according to Hippolyta, was a gift from the Titans. As for her shield, it was just standard Amazonian equipment, and she also had a combat staff she'd left behind because it was too cumbersome to carry.

There was no way Donna Troy was just an ordinary human orphan.

Hippolyta must not have told her the truth about her origins. After all, she wouldn't find an ordinary human to replace Diana and fight Ares. The Lasso of Truth might compel honesty, but it couldn't answer questions the wielder didn't know the answers to, so Su Sheng would have to ask Hippolyta directly the next time he visited Paradise Island.

Su Sheng sighed slightly, regretting that he couldn't uncover more and engaged Donna Troy in small talk for a while.

"Ten minutes!"

"I'll give you another ten minutes!"

After a while, Su Sheng suddenly shouted, his voice tinged with boredom.

"Diana, if you can't beat Ares in ten minutes, I'll make you watch as I kill this girl who's been taking on your mission for you. Does that sound scary enough?" Su Sheng paused and glanced down at Donna Troy. "What do you think? Scary enough?"

"Sca… scary…" Donna Troy reluctantly admitted, her voice shaky.

Diana's anger flared as she glared at Su Sheng.

"Ares, if she's still alive in ten minutes, I'll crush your skull myself!"

Ares glanced at Su Sheng, his expression dark.

"Don't doubt what I say. To me, there are only two types of people in this world: those who interest me and those who don't."

Diana's fury turned toward Ares—not Su Sheng, but Ares—because she knew Su Sheng meant what he said. She understood that her chances of defeating Su Sheng and saving Donna Troy were slim, so she had to focus on defeating Ares.

Not for the mission, but to save a life.

"Do you see that? He's the real villain because he cares about nothing. Sister, let's join forces to defeat him, and then we can settle things between us!" Ares, the god of war, made Diana an offer—a proposal that, despite herself, she found tempting.

Together, they could fight against Su Sheng, the stronger and more terrifying Demon King!
