Chapter 22 - Ambush

"Dude, that was awesome!" Jaje exclaims the moment he enters the locker room with Quincy. "The way you were moving as if you were a professional and the stunts you kept on pulling, dude, that was just fantastic." Jake commented contentedly with a sigh.

Quincy chuckles as he watch the exaggerated actions of Jake who tries to describe the way Quincy played the ball by imitating his actions back in the court.

"Really dude, it is nothing." Quincy says casually like his performance on the basketball court was nothing that doesn't deserve credit.

"Nothing? Did you just say they were nothing? Bro! You were fantastic!" Jake screams. "Also, did you see the look on Riley's face? It was hilarious." Jae said in a high pitched tone before bursting out into laughter.

"That look was so funny that I almost laughed to my death when I saw it." Jake added as he continues to laugh until tears drop from his right eye.

Quincy didn't say anymore words as he watched his best friend having his fun. Deep down within him, he knows that had it been he was a normal person, he would have broken a bone or two due to the stunts he kept on pulling on the basketball court. Fortunately, he wasn't normal. Instead, he is divine.

"Come on man, we gotta get going. I am supposed to meet up with Celeste after school hours." Quincy said while changing out of his jersey quickly.

"Why are you in such a hurry? Can't you just have this moment all to yourself." Jae asks with a frown as he pulls off his jersey.

"Celeste is meant to help me train after school. She has some ideas about how I can be able to deal with this whole divine supernatural thing." Quincy whispers as soon as other players started trooping into the locker room.

After spending some minutes changing, the duo walked out of the locker room and proceeded to the main hallway of the school.

"So Celeste is like your divine teacher or supernatural guardian or whatever you said she will be to you." Jake inquires, his words coming out more as a statement than the question he intended.

Quincy nodded his head, "Yep, she says she can help me channel my potential. After all, I wouldn't want a situation where my powers would go out of control." Quincy explains.

"Besides, she won't be the only one teaching me. Christine would be there to assist me in the ways of combat since sheus an Amazon, I would be learning some things about the realm of the supernaturals from Cynthia since she is a Muse and Christiana... Well I am yet to know the abilities of Christiana."

"Wow. If someone ever told me that a day would come when my best friend would have four hot supernatural beings as his girlfriends, damn, I would have argued." Jae grins as he playfully hits Quincy with his elbow.

Quincy scoffs, "They aren't my girlfriends, Jake. They are just acquaintances ." Quincy corrects Jake who still have a mischievous smile plastered on his face.

"Of course, of course. I believe you that they are your acquaintances. Or more like your divine harem, my Messiah." Jake said playfully as he bows before Quincy who lightly taps him on the head.

"Enough with your shenanigans, Jake. We got somewhere to be." Quincy cautions while maintaining a serious face though there is a playful smile dangling across his lips.

"And some seductresses to train with." Jaje added with a wink causing Quincy to roll his eyes.

The duo where moving on foot as a result of the fault Jake's car developed. Crossing an intersection, they proceeded into an alley as they continue with their discussion, unknown to them that they were walking into an ambush.

They had barely walked fifteen steps into the alley when they were stopped by two other kids whom they recognize as their seniors who played on the basketball team.

Quincy knots his brows as he questions, "What is the meaning of this?"

"Surely Quills, you didn't think you would go scot free after putting me to shame during the basketball game, do you?" The annoyed voice of the team captain rang out as he walks towards the duo.

"Put you to shame?" Jake scoffs, "He didn't embarrass you, bozo. He was only trying to make the shot by playing well." Jake said in annoyance as he glares at Riley.

The scornful laughter of Riley resounded in the alley. "Make the shot?" Riley's gaze turns cold as he glares at Quincy, "The reason I was put to shame is because he made the shot." Riley spat.

"What do you want Riley?" Quincy asks calmly. He isn't a bit afraid at the menacing way Riley is staring at him. If they were to go head to head against one another, Quincy knows that he would end up beating Riley to pulp, a situation that Quincy doesn't want so it is better he tries to salvage the situation.

"What do I want?" Riley sneers a he repeated the question while keeping his hateful gaze on Quincy, "I want you to break one of your arms. Only then would you be able to repay me for the shame that you caused me."

"Don't be a bully, you bastard!" Jake cursed. His body was trembling due to the hot blood that crossed his veins as a result if the anger he is feeling but he knows better than to act rashly.

Riley isn't just a senior in the school but also the only son of the mayor of Celestial Falls and his family are direct descendant of the earliest settlers and founders of Celestial Falls.

"Keep your mouth shut! I don't give a damn about you but if you don't mind, I will also ask you to break one if your legs." Riley shouted causing Jake to swallow the words that threatens to come out of his mouth.

Upon the mention of Riley's threat, Jake cowered back while fuming silently as rukey turns his attention back to Quincy.

"Don't waste my time Quincy. Have you made you your mind?" Riley asks impatiently. "Are you gonna break you arm or should I do it for you?"

At the mention of these words, the other two older kids slowly drew near to Quincy as the prepare to engage at Riley's command.
