Chapter 23 - Choices

Jake was obviously trembling as he watched the two older kids draw nearer to Quincy. He might be a sheriff's son but that doesn't necessarily implies that he has the protection of the sheriff station when compared to Riley who is the son of the mayor.

"You do know that your request is quite unreasonable, don't you?" Quincy calmly asks causing a scowl to appear on Riley's face.

"How about you apologize to us and I will forgive and forget your misdeed." Quincy added causing a deafening laughter to erupt from Riley's throat. Even Riley's lackeys laughed along with him.

"Forgive and forget my misdeed?" Riley utters as he calms down from his laughter.

"You obviously don't know about the situation of things here. You see, you are the one meant to apologize to me by breaking an arm and not the other way round." Riley sneers.

"Since you had the audacity to ask for an apology, them I would have to teach you a lesson by myself. Get him boys!" Riley barks. "Make sure he learns never to mess with those older than him." At his command, the other two kids spring into action with alacrity.

Quincy simply sighs as he rubs his temple while shaking his head. It is true that the dog that wants to get lost would not listen to the whistle of the hunter.

Well, he tried warning Riley and his goons but since they are itching fir a beating, he might as well take that as an opportunity to flex his own muscles.

With that thought, a wicked glint flashed in his eyes as he readies himself to counter attack.

Though he is yet to channel and control his powers, he still knows how to use some of it to an extent.

Quincy extended his hand at lightning speed to catch the punch that was aimed at his head by one of the older kids, he crushed the guy's knuckes causing him to yelp miserably in pain before Quincy sent him flying with a casual swipe of his right leg.

The moment the older kid landed, he spouted out a mouthful of blood before passing out. This scene caused Riley's eyes to almost pop out of their sockets. Even the other kid had to approach Quincy with scruples while debating whether or not he should attack Quincy.

Jake on the other hand almost whoop in joy as he saw the amazing feat Quincy performs. Though he is still shock at the raw display of superhuman strength and reflex, he couldn't help the smile that crept to his face when he saw the unconscious body of the older kid.

"Get him Jason!" Riley orders viciously through gritted teeth. The other kid had no option but to attack Quincy even when he is still scrupulous towards Quincy, he dares not disobey the order of Riley as he is the mayor's son.

He could only hope that he has an advantage against Quincy buy his hope was soon shattered. The moment Jason is as about to strike Quincy in the loin, Quincy moved out if the way with unnatural reflex that made him seems like he disappeared and even Jason couldn't catch Quincy's movement.

The next second, Quincy is behind Jason and before Jason could figure out what you as going on, the last thing he remembers is been flung effortlessly into the air like a sack of potatoes. On landing, Jason shared the same fate with the other kid as he spat a mouthful of blood before passing out.

"I gave you a chance to atone for your sins but I guess my mercy was not needed." Quincy said tucking hike walking towards Riley like a predation stalking it's prey.

With each steps Quincy takes, Riley slowly back away as h felt as though it was death that approaches him. He is now fully aware that he really is no match for Quincy.

Had he followed the wise saying of look before you leap, he wouldn't dares challenge Quincy who single handedly took down two older kids within a matter of ten seconds.

"You gave me two choices and I would be kind to offer you the same. Either you break one of your legs or you break one of your arms, your choice."

Riley felt sweat dripping down his face to the extent that his back was already drenched in it but he made no effort to clean it off. He tries swallowing the lump that clogs his throat but it seems like his muscles refuse to move.

Had he not be someone with a big ego, his legs would have given way and he would be kneeling before Quincy while pleading for his life. However, Riley still have one more card to play based on his ego.

"You can't do anything to me. I am the son of the mayor." Riley blurted out hoping that Quincy would back down due to the influence his father's name has.

Quincy scoffs, "I don't care if you are the mayor's son. Even if you are the president's son or he comes to beg for you, I won't still let you off. It is either you give me your choice now or I make it for you."

Riley was dumbfounded. Did Quincy not fear his father or was he bluffing. Judging by the confidence in the way Quincy spoke, it is as though the influence behind Quincy us far more greater than the president of the country but how is that possible.

"Very well then, since you can't make you your mind, I guess I would have to act on your behalf."

Before Riley could figure out what Quincy meant, the sound of bones breaking filled the air and Riley opens his mouth to let out a long shriek. He was sweating profusely as he stares at his right hand which has been twisted to an unnatural angle.

He was about to glare at Quincy when a pain jolt up his spine and another crunching sound filled the air. This time Riley wasn't able to scream as he passed out in pain before noticing his bent left leg.

Quincy stares at the unconscious Riley on the ground with utter disgust as he dust his hands.

"Was that really necessary? Breaking an arm and a leg." Jake asks as he looks at Riley, "I thought you gave him an option."

Quincy casually shrugs, "I did but he failed to choose. Also, he threatened to break my arm and one of your legs, I think it is only fair if he experience both."

Jake simply shook his head before sighing, "What do you think would happen if they find him like that?" Jake asks as they walk away from the alley.

"Whatever happens is their business. As long as they don't come bothering me it anyone that I cares for, I don't care about them." Quincy replies and Jake didn't ask anymore questions.
