Felicia was led into the building designated for the Council of Mentors, still reeling from the unexpected visit she'd received on the plantation. Two guards had shown up out of nowhere, informing her that the head of the council wanted to speak with her.
She was stunned; these were the same people who had questioned her son after his return, and it hit her that she'd never actually asked Lucius what that meeting had been about.
Now, as she stood in front of them, confusion clearly marked her face. She couldn't understand why an ordinary woman like herself would be summoned to a place of such authority.
"I can see that you're puzzled, Mrs. Storm," Elder Aldrich began gently. "But your presence here is not without purpose. Please, take a seat."
Felicia blinked, feeling a growing unease, but she nodded and took the offered chair.
"What reason am I here for?" she asked warily. "Is this about my son? Has he… done something?"
