It has been two weeks working at Ronnie's empire as the CEO's secretary and Isabel still haven't recovered from the fact that the handsome stranger she made out with at the party was her boss.
She had almost passed out the day she was introduced to him as his new Secretary but she managed to maintain her composure until the day was over and she was able to rush home to break the news to Lily.
Kine Ronnie, the only son and child of late Kelly Ronnie was the CEO of Ronnie's empire.
If he was surprised to see her , he didn't act like it infact he had acted like he never met her before. It made her heart sink.
She saw him less and only communicated with him through the office call line. She later learnt from the receptionist that he preferred to work from his private condominium.
He only showed up in the office if there was an emergency or an important meeting.
Isabel was in her office taking calls for appointments and replying mails when the door opened suddenly.
A tall model like woman with blonde hair walked in , she was dressed elegantly. She had a smirk at the corner of her red lips.
Isabel wondered who she was and why she did not bother to knock.
"Hello how may I help you please?" She asked the intruder.
The woman let out a small sarcastic laugh "you are Kine's new Secretary right ?"
Isabel nodded.
"I'm Kate , Kine's fiancée" she said as she scrutinized Isabel from head to toe.
"Oh hi" Isabel whispered, too shocked to look away from the stunning blonde standing before her.
Her heart raced in an unhealthy way. He never mentioned that he was engaged, not that they have had the chance to have a conversation.
Kate looked around the office like she was seeing it for the first time, "you can re-arrange here to your taste you know".
Isabel faked a smile "I'm fine with the way it is."
"Please make tea for me, my office is the one opposite Kine's".
She was about to ask if she was going to also work as Kate's secretary when her boss' familiar cologne filled her nostrils. He strolled into her office with his hands in his pockets. She had not received any call from him that he would be at work. He probably came because his fiancé was around.
Isabel smirked secretly.
"What a man" she thought.
Kate ran to him and threw her arms around him in a tight embrace.
"Hi baby , I've missed you" she grinned from ear to ear as she placed a kiss on his left cheek.
He didn't hug her back , he just smiled and took her hand to his lips and gave it a gentle kiss.
Isabel flushed as she tried to concentrate on the laptop before her. She looked up just in time to see Kine studying her.
"Good morning sir" she managed to say.
"Good morning Isabel, I think I have an appointment with an investor tomorrow right?" He asked walking towards her large office desk.
"Yes sir" she answered shyly trying so hard not to meet his gaze.
"Please call them and ask them if they can make it today. We have to be in New York on a work trip tomorrow" he said.
She looked at him and was about to ask what he meant by "we" but she was interrupted by Kate.
"Babe I'm meant to go on the trip with you"
Kine scoffed as he made his way out of the office , "you just got back from a vacation and the company needs your presence" he paused to face her "besides you're not my secretary" and with that he left walking off like some main character in a romance movie. Isabel watched him leave as the thoughts of what happened at the party filled her mind. He probably did not remember her and that made her chest hurt.
Kate stood fixed to a spot, the look on her face showed how unsatisfied she was with Kine's decision .
"Do you want your tea with milk and sugar?" Isabel asked before she could stop the words from getting out. it was obviously not the right time to ask about tea.
Kate shot her a death stare and walked out of the office hurriedly.
Isabel knew at that instance that she and Kate would not be friends.
Another thing she noticed was that there was something off about the couple. The relationship seemed one sided but she could not say for sure as she was just seeing them together for the first time.
She let out a deep sigh wondering what it would be like to be on a trip with the man she was attracted to. She was so keen on finding out if Kine really did not recognize her or if he was pretending not to.
She had just one night pack for the trip , the thought of it excited her and she could not wait to get home to fill her cousin in with all the details like she always does.
Lilly would find her little escapade so fascinating because she was a sucker for romance and drama.
She let out a soft laugh because she knew Lily would hate Kate as soon as she hears about her and that pleased Isabel in a way.
She smiled sheepishly as she placed a call through to the investors. She dropped messages in their mailboxes as they were not available to take her calls.
She was willing and ready to find out if Kine really loved Kate and why he had made out with her if he had a fiancée as stunning as Kate. There has to be more to the couple.
Kine looked like a bad boy obviously but not the kind of bad boy that would cheat on his woman.
"Why am I making excuses for him?" She whispered.
She wanted to move on so bad and let Kine and Kate be but she just could not get her mind off the the night at the party.
