In the Ogun family, there is a tradition
that has been passed down from
generations to generations, which is that
every child of the family will be given four
bracelets to put on both hands and feet.
This bracelet is made of 30 percent
meteorite rock and 70 percent 500-year-
old cold iron.
Each family member has a bracelet
newly made for them when they turn 12
years old.
When the bracelets are put on, the
average weight is 60 kg, but every 6
months the bracelets become heavier
with an additional 30 kg, until they reach
the age of 25 years, at which point the
bracelets will automatically be removed.
Each child is called forward, having both
their hands and legs with those
bracelets.
"Ogunleye, come forward." One of the
elders called for him.
Ogunleye walks forward and raises both
his hands for the bracelets to be put on.
Instantly, when the bracelets were put
on, Ogunleye fell to the ground.
The iron was too heavy for him.
Everyone in the hall makes fun of him
as they laugh at him.
"Silent, we should honor our ancestors
by keeping an upright attitude." The
Ogun family leader said angrily.
They all left the hall, leaving Pertrish and
his son in the hall.
"Don't be weak; prove yourself worthy of
this clan.
In the next few years, the family will hold
a family competition, and the winner will
be given the chance to leave the clan to
study at the Orthodox college.
I will be expecting your improvement."
Ogun Pertrish said, flinging a martial arts
manual at his son, who was lying down
helplessly.
Ogunlade, who is Ogunleye's father,
also left his son as he left. Ogunleye,
who is still trying to figure out his
scattered memory, tries to stand but
finds it difficult and crawls back to his
room as people make fun of him.
A month has passed since the clan
ceremony.
Ogunleye is starting to get used to the
bracelets, as he can stand up and work.
"Hey, come out, you basterd. You have
been in your room doing nothing.
Are you the only one of your age putting
on the bracelets?" An elder of the family
shouted,Kick the door open.
"Greeting, elder Ogunbiyi; I don't know
how I have offended you; I apologize for
my mistake." Ogunleye said he
prostrating.
"Elder Ogunbiyi is one of the elders in
the clan, close to my father, not just as a
member but as friends, so why did he
find fault with me?"
"If you know your mistake, come out and
follow back to the back of the mountain."
Elder Ogunbiyi said angrily.
Ogunleye followed elder Ogunbiyi back
to the mountain.
"From today on, I will be your personal
tutor, training you on how to build and
shape your body into a perfect weapon.
Ogunleye runs 500 meters, does 200
pushups, squats for 5 hours, and does
body relaxation exercises every day.
It has already been a year since the
training started, as the bracelets weight
also increased to 120 kg each, but like
others, Ayodeji did not grow muscles all
over his body, looking like someone who
has not been trained.
Ayodeji has gotten used to the training;
even without a tutor around, he trains on
his own.
"It has been a year since this training
started, so I am making some
adjustments to the training timetable."
Elder Ogunbiyi said,
"What? Did I really offend you? Why do
you have to go through this harsh
training?"
Ogunleye complained.
"Hey, like other clan members, you are
lacking, as you are far behind in your
training.
Get yourself together if you don't want
me to add more to the new training
schedule.
From today, the distance covered will
increase by 200 meters, making it 700
meters, as you will also climb through
mountains as you run, do 400 pushups,
do 5 hours of squatting, and do relief
exercise.
