"Splash!"

Countless droplets fell like rain. Illuminated by the bright light, the water sparkled enchantingly.

One after another, figures like mermaids emerged from the deep blue waters, breaking the surface and capturing hearts.

Their skin white as jade, their wet hair, their dazzling eyes, and their slender waists caused Lin Yifan, who was sitting on the poolside chair, to swallow hard repeatedly.

He was a lifeguard at an indoor women's swimming pool, mainly responsible for rescuing and aiding, and occasionally performing artificial respiration.

Although he had dreamt of performing mouth-to-mouth on a sexy lady one day, reality always contradicted his wishes; because none of the beautiful women who came to swim couldn't swim.

Sighing inwardly, he silently sat high up on his chair, day after day, faithfully holding his post.

Not long after, a group of youthful girls in swimsuits arrived at the pool to swim.

Each performed warm-up exercises on the poolside, clearly taking safety seriously.

His throat tightened again, and then he slapped his thigh.

"Damn, as a soldier, how can I be so easily tempted? Where has all the self-control I painstakingly trained gone?"

Indeed, he was a soldier, and a distinguished one at that. On the battlefield, there was no one who didn't recognize him.

The reason he ended up as an obscure lifeguard was because of a momentary impulse, a grave mistake he made.

The military couldn't accommodate him, and he had no choice but to silently leave the place that had nurtured him for ten years with his baggage.

Back home, without any qualifications, he felt lost, unsure of what job could help his debt-ridden family out of hardship.

Poor families easily accumulate debt; a sudden severe illness can plunge you from having something to owing a lot.

The most unfortunate for Lin Yifan was that his parents were both laid up in the hospital; and as the eldest son in the family, he had to shoulder all responsibilities.

Not going out to work was not an option!

So, with a few hundred yuan borrowed from relatives, he traveled to the provincial capital, roaming the streets and alleys, constantly searching for a decent-paying job.

His requirements were simple: a monthly salary of a few thousand would suffice, ideally with food and accommodation included.

After a long search, he finally landed this high-paying job, which for someone without any qualifications, was really a pie from the sky.

A monthly salary of nine thousand was above average among the working class.

He initially thought it was an easy job that could earn him good money; little did he know it required considerable "energy."

As a lifeguard, he could only sit high up on his chair every day, silently enduring the deadly temptations emanating from the pool.

The youthful and sexy girls doing warm-ups had no sense of shame; they had long treated Lin Yifan as an object that didn't exist unless absolutely necessary.

Later, these girls approached the poolside and, with a leap, jumped into the water for a swim.

Lin Yifan watched closely, just then, a cold breeze suddenly blew in from the direction of the door.

Out of instinct honed on the battlefield, he sensed something was amiss and quickly turned his head towards the door.

He saw a woman with a troubled expression, wearing a deep blue one-piece dress, walking towards the pool with a heavy gaze.

She seemed deeply troubled, as if she had a difficult issue constantly bothering her.

"Tap tap tap!"

She quickly reached the poolside but, unlike other swimmers, she didn't warm up. Instead, she dived straight into the water and sank to the bottom.

The corner where she picked was secluded with fewer people, quiet and serene. All her movements and behavior seemed to indicate she was looking to end her life.

Lin Yifan's job was to "save lives and aid the injured." If this woman indeed sought death, he wouldn't ignore it.

He carefully observed every move the woman made, trying to understand what she truly intended.

As time ticked by, after a minute and a half, the motionless sexy woman still hadn't surfaced.

Based on ordinary human breath-holding capacity, her life might already be in danger.

As the only lifeguard in the pool, Lin Yifan didn't think twice. He immediately jumped from his high chair into the pool, over a meter deep.

"Splash!"

Water splashed all around. Lin Yifan, not a professional diver, naturally couldn't minimize the splash.

However, this didn't slow his rescue efforts at all.

After jumping into the water, he quickly moved his body and swam towards the still woman at the bottom; then with his strong arms, he embraced the fair-skinned woman and surfaced together with her.

"Whoosh!!!"

White water droplets fell like rain, ticking loudly.

Lin Yifan successfully rescued the beautiful girl intent on dying, but she still had her eyes tightly closed, unaware if she was still alive.

The woman in the deep-blue one-piece dress was beautiful, and upon close observation, Lin Yifan felt his heart stir.
