At the foot of Qinghu Mountain, there is a spring of clear and transparent water, chilling to the bone.
No matter the freezing cold or scorching heat, the temperature of this pool of water remains constant throughout the year. The old man said that when Ye Qiu was young, he had used this icy spring to toughen his body.
It rid him of illness and only then did his physique become robust and increasingly healthy.
In Ye Qiu's memory, this icy pool brought him one joyful childhood moment after another, especially in the scorching summer when he would often sneak into the pool and bathe in refreshing coolness.
He would leave quickly before the nuns came to fetch water, doing this every year.
The old man said this spring water was delicious, very sweet, but Ye Qiu would not drink a single drop, for ever since he had accidentally shed his tears into the spring, he never again had the slightest desire to taste that water.
